The judge is correct here (as usual) but isn’t that what progressives truly want, anyway?
Remember, he’s the one the left has been looking for, their vaunted philosopher king after all.

Power: Given the president’s end-runs around Congress, his shredding of the Constitution and his assault on the authority of the courts, a second term free of electoral restraints may be a frightening prospect.
Judge Andrew Napolitano, a Fox News commentator, raised the question on Neil Cavuto’s “Your World” show Wednesday. And while it seems fanciful in light of the safeguards built into our democracy and its institutions, it recognizes the threat posed by the president’s policies and actions if left unchecked.
“I think the president is dangerously close to totalitarianism,” Napolitano opined. “A few months ago he was saying, ‘The Congress doesn’t count, the Congress doesn’t mean anything, I am going to rule by decree and by administrative regulation.’
“Now he’s basically saying the Supreme Court doesn’t count. It doesn’t matter what they think. They can’t review our legislation. That would leave just him as the only branch of government standing.”
Some would consider this borderline hyperbole. But this is, after all, a president who has said he can’t wait for Congress to act and will govern by executive order and regulations if necessary. He has questioned the Supreme Court’s “unprecedented” review of ObamaCare

Not worried at all. Bring it on. The more he exposes his inability to properly govern according to our Constitution, coupled with his America-hating agendas and the company he keeps, the better.
ReplyDeleteHe's the best thing that could ever happen for the Conservative Movement. The best.
Well, being the reasonable old fart that I am, and following the President's clarification, combined with Attorney General Eric Holder's letter to the 5 Circuit Court of Appeals Justice Smith I suppose the fear has been mitigated? Yes?
ReplyDeleteThe term "the cat's out of the bag" comes to mind. If the president's remark was off the cuff, it sure as hell speaks volumes to what is bouncing around in his skull. Freudian slip is what I would call it.
DeleteThe salient point is this… He clarified, the AG confirmed, the correction is now a matter of unassailable record. As a businessman it is all the "F" I need going forward. No?
DeleteHis clarification or his original statement? Again, Dear Leader's "Freudian slip" moment spoke volumes to his intent. Things like that are just "accidentally" proclaimed by United States presidents.
DeletePlus, Holder's letter to the 5th Circuit is anything but reassuring. Though he confirmed judicial review (duh), his noting of the "presumptive constitutionality" of laws passed by congress is ludicrous and totalitarian in itself. Congress can pass laws all day (as they do and have done under 'D' and 'R' statist administrations, especially in the last 10 years or so), but that does not make their edicts "presumptively constitutional" in any sense.
Plus, his original statement is all the "F" (and I assume you are referring to a curse word?) I need; retractions from the miscreants that rule us don't mean squat to this independent-minded patriot.
DeleteForgive me if you will but I think partisanship has won over reasoned judgement here. The clarification, along with the AG's response is now a matter of record. As a business person this distinction is most notable as a matter of record.
DeleteFurther, beware of encroaching right statism bordering on fascism as noted by both Ayn Rand and Leonard Piekoff. The devil is in the details if you will.
End of analysis, pay particular close attention to the battles truly worth fighting as the possibility of winning the battle yet losing the war is quite in the realm of likelihood my friend.
Les, I hear you and really don't mind you kicking my proverbial #ss into independent-thinking shape once in a while; like you I am all too aware of the "good" side's proclivity in doing as much (or more) damage to the country as the progressive left. That's what blogging (and paying attention more than is possibly good for our health) has taught us the last few years — what's up is down, 'R' is as bad as 'D' and this nation needs a total change in leadership (from the statism of both parties and back to limited, constitutional government). We unaccounted for thinkers in the blogosphere are the true Sons of Liberty patriots of our time.
DeleteHappy Easter and make sure you get some rest, I sure plan on it đ
DeleteThanks Tim, you as well! Keeping each other honest (all of us liberty minded individuals) is really what it's all about. Thank you for doinf yoiur part when I've needed it my friend!
DeleteSame to you Les!
