It will be another day before the National Enquirer follows up their claims to an Al Gore sexual assault with some alleged evidence. The article is scheduled to hit news stands tomorrow. While we wait, I felt it would be a good time to add yet one more nuance to the old “global warming is a religion” analogy.

So let’s look at the analogy thus far: We have a movement whose sole tenant is that all of mankind is a sinner by our mere existence since our breathing causes CO2. We must therefore follow the tenants of global warming science as a way to absolve our sins. These tenants include buying hybrid cars, painting our roofs white, not eating meat, using GE made CFL light bulbs, ect…. To administer their doctrine, the global warming fanatics have canonized a high priest Al Gore. The church of global warming requires a tithe from everyone in the form of carbon taxes.

Well the analogy just got juicier with its first Catholic priest style sex scandal. The story is complete with loony sex poodle, high priest in Al Gore. However, Byron York gives us the latest nuance; the church of global warming aligned itself against the victim of sexual abuse to protect the sanctity of the religion:

Finally she got away. Later, she talked to friends, liberals like herself, who advised against telling police. One asked her “to just suck it up; otherwise, the world’s going to be destroyed from global warming.”

As it occurs in so many cases where clergy are involved in sexual abuse, the church members often become accomplices to the cover up. When news of a scandal comes to light, church members regularly rally to protect the clergy predator instead of the victim by citing the virtues of the greater good of the clergy member’s work on achieving eternal objectives over the seriousness of the victim’s claims. Their mind set is that a scandal will damage the credibility of the church’s message to the unbelievers. Thus, justice for the victim becomes secondary to keeping a pretense of holiness.

As Darth Vader once so eloquently put it to Obi Won Kenobi, “the circle is now…complete.”
