Put on Your Activist Caps – Cap and Tax Vote, Bloody Details

I’m in a rush this morning, I overslept and it seems that my head-cold came back. I am in a mental-fog, scrambling to find more information on the Cap and Tax. The media is focused on Michael Jackson’s death so the info is a bit hard to come by and derive a coherent view on what I should write about/what we should do. Or even the odds that this thing has. Yes, the biggest tax increase in history, (and one that slaps the face of the 95% that the Obamanation promised a cut), is being voted on today and the MSM is hounding the Jackson story like a bunch of vampirious, ambulance-chasing, mortician-hyena vultures on viagra, (pictured right). Did they plan his death to preempt discussion on the piece of garbage-disaster legislation? Who knows, anything is possible under this government-media controlled complex.

Now I’m getting even more angry, I am reading that the Democrats are using the straw man of redistribution to the poor to coax votes, to do an end-run around the ‘downtrodden’ constituency, to tell them that even though their energy bills and costs will rise they will get refunds and credits from this scheme and therefore won’t be affected?!?!?

*……..millions of toilets flushing in the distance, our collective, sacred free market circling the pooper-drain, Pelosi, Pigman, Barney, doing a rain-dance around said toilet…….*

Stacy McCain here has a blip up pointing to the fact that Waxman tacked on another 300 mysterious pages in the dead of night (here @ Hot Air), do you think that the reps will read these pages before ramming this thing through? This is insanity. More from Hot Air

“Among the many reasons President Barack Obama and the Democratic majority are so intent on quickly jamming a cap-and-trade system through Congress is because the global warming tide is again shifting. It turns out Al Gore and the United Nations (with an assist from the media), did a little too vociferous a job smearing anyone who disagreed with them as “deniers.”

Cap-and-trade is a tax, one imposed through an artificial scarcity model onto an industry that drives the economy. The AP reports the CBO and EPA cost estimates without mentioning that those predictions only cover the actual mechanical costs of cap-and-trade. They do not predict the economic impact on American families from the loss of economic power as energy becomes more scarce and expensive. This bill will lose the US 2.5% of its GDP each and every year in the years after the first decade of implementation.”

It is happening folks. Years ago I would listen to crazy-liberal friends’ arguments and think to myself, ”wow, imagine if this type of thinking took hold in the country, in the government,” well it has and it’s not pretty. The most shocking thing to me is the lack of debate, the closing of argument. If the Statists/Socialists/Liberals/Progressives were so confident in their ideas and ideology, why the rush and hush? Why not let ideas stand on their own merit? Why not let democracy work. Midnight secret discussions and amendments, silenced debate, an able and willing press – is not the will of the people! This is not going to happen. These bastards need to be sent this message here, today, now. Burn up the lines, fill the inboxes, threaten reelection (that’s all they care about anyway).

If your Congressman is on an undecided or leaning list below PLEASE click here and enter your zip code to get your representative’s number and talking points on this issue. Tell them that they are fired if they vote for this thing. This is unbelievable folks, simply unbelievable. Some of my readers like Andrew33 at KOOK are telling me that the lines are jammed at the Capitol, keep calling anyway!

Update I : CrabbyConservative at StoptheLiberals.com whom I met at Twitter, visit and support here site, posted this for LCR –

The Cap and Tax debate is still continuing on the House floor as I type this. These politicians didn’t even have a physical copy of the bill at their fingertips, nor has anybody read the entire thing – but they want a vote on it today. Waxman and Markey are making deals on the floor and bribing other members of Congress with earmarks. These earmarks would be paid for by the American taxpayer and add to our insurmountable debt.

There are 14-15 undecideds that desparately need phone calls and activists to tell them to vote NO. Let your voice be heard and let them know that if this passes and they vote Yes, they will be in the same unemployment lines as the constituents they sold out.

Those reps are the following :

Arcuri (NY) 202/225-3665
Boccieri (OH) 202/225-3876
Brown (FL) 202/225-0123
Carney (PA) 202/225-3731

Space (OH) 202/225-6265
Teague (NM) 202/225-2365
Tonko (NY) 202/225-5076

And just for good measure, remind Mary Bono Mack she is a Republican and that her own state, California, is bankrupt!

Melt those phones! We have a chance!

Update II : Mary Bono is on the fence, contact her at (760)320-1076 (local CA), (202) 225-5330 (DC), Fax (202) 225-2961 Urge a no-vote!

The MSM really are as bad as you describe. "Importance" means nothing to them. "Hype" that passes for importance means everything.

I am flabbergasted that the US Congress is even considering cap-and-trade. It's like the far left of the political spectrum has won the damn lottery, over and over again, the past few months.

Left Coast Rebel said…

Cerdo – I am almost speechless over this, it is the most shocking political train-wreck I have ever witnessed……..

Andrew33 said…

I really do not think they have the votes to do it. If they did, they would have voted on it while all this stupid Michael Jackson garbage is on the news. By the way, you said you have a headache…this is my comment to yours from my blog…"Don't feel bad, I am doing all this, with a migraine, and watching what is predicted to be a tropical storm or hurricane for me (early next week) forming at the same time (YAHOO). That is why this is my only post/comments for today"…and the PHONE LINES ARE STILL JAMMED!!!!!

I have a splitting head and headache at the same time.

Andrew33 said…

an occasional check to C-Span seems to be the only way to get info on this.

Left Coast Rebel said…

Andrew – We are both on the frontlines here, I am still going after this thing with the urgency of it possibly passing, I just called my congressman Bilbray and they said it was 'too close to call'. Anyway, hope the hurricane misses you and you fell better too….

Andrew33 said…

For migraine took pain pills.
For tropics better to get it over with now than wait till september and get a very bad one. It is more a competing source of interest than anything else. We are already getting rained on from it but it may not get here 'till the 4th of July. Here in this part of the world, this is as big as story as the death of the "freak show" already. It will likely be named ANA in a day or so.
For the Dems, I believe if they had the votes, it would be over. PHONE LINES STILL JAMMED….

William said…

As per your liberal idiot icon, Tim, here is an article from American Thinker that sums up the way these mouth breathing morons think; or don't think as it were. http://www.americanthinker.com/2009/06/not_much_ado_about_nothing.html

Hang in there man, Hannity just reported that it is about 210 to 210 with 14 undecided.

Left Coast Rebel said…

Andrew – Wow, here in CA, this thing is hardly reported on

William – I am cursing at Cspan, loved what Paul Ryan just said, Chucky Wrangler is hogging the limelight….I'll tune into Hannity right now too, thanks!

Left Coast Rebel said…

William – that is a great piece, thanks for the heads up, I'm putting it on the desktop to read a few times…..American Thinker is such a great source…..

William said…

That wasn't the article I had in mind (sorry() it is still relevant. Here is the article I was referring to:http://www.americanthinker.com/2009/06/when_did_the_lowbrows_take_ove.html

William –
As a nation we are under the thumb of idiots. Not just indoctrinated, or wrong-thinking, or power-hungry, or manipulative, or even malevolent people. No, I mean real lowbrows…

James Lewis @ American Thinker, well said

Andrew33 said…

LCR: I was saying the developing tropical system near Cuba is the growing story here, not Waxman-Malarkey. Media locally tends to hype them before they are named now as this time of year they are usually in right in our back yard.

Dems have pushed the vote back to 7PM and THE LINES ARE STILL CLOGGED…in fact it looks like we crashed the board because the message that I was getting saying all lines are busy is no longer playing.

Left Coast Rebel said…

Andrew – Gotcha, hey try the link in my piece from AFP, try to contact specific reps in your area instead of the capitol…I looove seeing the GOP on the attack, I'm watching GOP speeches on the floor, I wish they had been this agressive when they were in the majority!

William said…

Unbelievable! Tim, you are about the only blogger on my must red daily list, that is interested in the largest tax increase in American history. Everyone else seems more interested in Iran, (not that Iran is not important) the death of Michael Jackson or Mark Sanford's extramarital activities.

Left Coast Rebel said…

William – That is a joke man! Have we lost focus on defense of our freedoms? Are we really that a(pathetic)? BeGeezus, Sanford? Really? Give me the blog names and I will commence in bombardment…..Hannity is saying that the vote is close!

Andrew33 said…

I've already done the "locals". I took care of that early and often.

Andrew33 said…

I believe that this could lead to a "midwest secession" if it passes. It could also lead to a massive change in power in 2010.

Left Coast Rebel said…

Andrew – Good, check William's comment above, I am going to blogs to make our guys on message witht this thing….

Jan the crazy lady said…

Thanks so much for bringing this to the real light. I love the list. I have been contacting as much as possible for the last 3 days. I am having a hard time reaching those that are on the fence. I am hoping the computer is now going to let me because I need to email those that you have listed.

The 300 page add on is such an outrage. He admittedly didn't even read his own bill. And then the 32,000 scientist that have strongly dissented the global warming issue, has to be a consideration. Al Gore said the debate is over, I say no.

Left Coast Rebel said…

Andrew – you are right, it looks like it may, this could be the turning point on secession, also 2010. On the other hand a slap in the face of the Chosen One if it doesn't pass

Left Coast Rebel said…

Jan – I know, this is insane, it reminds me of the electoral process in countries like Venezuela. Thanks for your effort, God bless!

Andrew33 said…

This may be the "Chosen One" slapping us in the face for recent elections.

Andrew33 said…

"32,000 scientists" because activities elsewhere, I may among those named there:0)

Andrew33 said…

LINES ARE STILL JAMMED…..I never did get through despite "auto-dialing" and redialing…again…and…again…

Andrew – keep trying!

2 of my blogs are on this topic today. One arguing that we have become what we fought to escape. That by forcing legislation on a huge tax that they know the people don't support we have become taxed without representation. The other is the response I received from my Senator with a translation of what she said. I'm absolutely disgusted by I can't get anybody to talk about anything other than Michael Jackson. I'm with you Rebel, I think the administration may have offed him for cover.

Left Coast Rebel said…

Tommi – I'll read your posts, thanks for being on-message with this!

Also, I called and got through on my second attempt to my Freshman Cong Jim Himes. His staff member was cordial. I could tell she'd taken quite a few calls on Batman's legislation. Hope the effort pays off.

Left Coast Rebel said…

LA – Thanks! I've spent most of the day

Thanks for the effort too, we did our best!

Beck's show just started half an hour ago where I live, and he starts his with the death of Michael Jackson. I hope he gets with the program and starts talking about the tax and kill bill.

Left Coast Rebel said…

William – I have turned Cspan on mute, queen moonbat is on and I don't want to get sick this evening, Boehner just finished, impressive! I wish the GOP defended liberty and fought tyranny this well while in power. Fill me in on Beck, I will watch at 10pm tonight when he is on here in San Diego. I can't believe Moonbattery has nothing on this!?!?! William – I have a better blog than these guys!

So let me get this right. We're in the middle of the worse recession since the Great Depression with unemployment still increasing and we're going to DECREASE the GDP by 2.5%. I like to know how this gets us back to work?

I wonder if anyone ever heard of the National Economic Department? No? That was a branch of the Nazi government that determined who got what energy and resources of the country. Oscar Schnidler bribed the crap out of them to maintained his factories and keep his jewish workers employed (as not to be shipped to those "work camps" like Auswich). Seems we're heading right for the same economic model and think anyone that disagrees with the messiah is going to get any work, energy or resouces? Time for me to consider getting out while I'm behind here. After all, do you think rich, radical leftist are going to have a hard time or feel the consequences of their insane, stupid and racist policies or the poor slaves?

People's lack of history or just plain common sense would make dictators around the world proud. Ignorance isn't bliss, it's the totalitarian's best friend.

Tommi Jefferson said…

Beck talked about everybody being distracted by Michael Jackson while Legislation that will fundamentally transform our country is up for a vote.

Although, if the American public actually paid attention to what was going on we wouldn't be in this position in the first place.

conservative generation said…

Grrrr! Who voted for these congressional clowns?

I'm at least proud to say my own congressman is not voting for the worst piece of legislation ever conceived.

William said…

Something very weird is going on here. The people I mention should be on the edge of their seats in anticipation of the results of this bill.

This from Washington Times, under "Politics" (a link) toward the bottom of the home page: "President Obama on Friday said the global warming bill the House is debating today is only a start, not the end of efforts to control greenhouse gas emissions."

Powerline blog has nothing mentioned.

Under sub heading, "Newsfront," at Newsmax, we have this: http://www.newsmax.com/newsfront/house_climate_bill_vote/2009/06/26/229306.html Headline at Newsmax is: Unemployment Triples. This is an important article, but c'mon, it pales by comparison to C&T.

Fox carried an article with 167 comments, but the heading was in the midst others, and wasn't in bold fonts..

Washington Examiner has nothing!

US Newswire reports nothing.

I simply do not understand any of this. Do I have to listen to Alex Jones for an "objective" analysis? That was sarcasm, folks.

Yes indeed, Tim, your blog is better than any of these. If there is an award for blogging, you should receive one.

conservative generation said…

9 Republican's are voting for it! The nerve!

conservative generation said…

Sorry 8! One switched at the last moment.

Tommi Jefferson said…

I sure want to know which Republicans voted for this atrocity. And I want to know what they were offered for their vote.

Left Coast Rebel said…

Everyone – This is a big defeat and I am disgusted. The thing that disgusts me the most is that 8 members of the Republican party voted Yea on this thing, this thing passed by 7 votes….meaning obviously that if these 'GOP' reps had voted Nay it would have gone down in flames. What does this tell us? It tells me that we have to fight harder. We have to purge the party of members that would vote for a bill that represents the most Marxian infringement ever in our country. It tells me that we have to ensure that these 8 are never elected again. I'm writing a post on this tonight, stay tuned.

Ananda girl said…

As of today when people ask about my politics, I shall succinctly and accurately say, "I AM A DEVOUT ANTI-STATIST!" Now, any problems? Monday morning I shall go to the county election board and register as an Independent. That folks is a big (I) Independent.

Andrew – I would unfortunately have to agree with you, trouble is, where do we go from here?

William, I went to the Glenlivit Distillery on a recent trip to Scotland, and I'm fondly remembering the rows and rows of aging whiskey in the store room. LMAO Blackandgoldfan! I can sure tell you aren't from the left coast. You see, out here when you say "I've been smoking like a van full of hippies at a Grateful Dead concert," translates that what you have been smoking is indeed, a van full of hippies; "like" being the operative word in west coast jargon.

But I'm glad you aren't
like those imbeciles who speak that way. I like you just the way are, in a "cling to your religion and guns kind of way." 😉
