Only a few in Congress have my respect like Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota. Not one to be afraid of standing up for true core conservative values, she made recent headlines here in the Washington Times with her stated refusal to fill out the upcoming Census. She says that she will fill out the number of people in her family and stop at that. Stating to the Times that the Census questions have become “very intricate, very personal”, she also believes that ACORN will abuse their door-to-door collection efforts. Remember my post on ACORN here? Simply a corrupt, shady, disreputable, radically anti-capitalist organization at best. And to think that the Obamanation had an intimate and long-lasting relationship with them, all the way up until his Senate run here, and here.
Apparently word got out that Bachmann publicly stated her refusal to fill out the entire Census. Thus Shelly Lowe, a spokesman for the U.S. Census sent her a letter. The letter contained among other things, details on U.S. legal code that showed that anyone over 18 years of age that refrained from filling out the entire Census could face fines of up to $5000.00. Really? What are you going to do? God bless her for having the guts to stand up.
Listen the accounts of fraud and corruption that Bachmann highlights in this video on the floor of the House. She also had put up an amendment, the Taxpayer Protection and Anti-Fraud Act, which would have prohibited any organization that has been indicted for violations of state or federal elec

My husband and I did the exact same thing during the last census.
It's not that we refused to answer the census, but we feel that anything other than number of people is none of the government's damned business.
Maybe if enough people do that, the message will be sent. And God help any ACORN nut who tells me I HAVE to answer all of it!
Target practice, anyone?
blackandgold – indeed, I understand your sentiment, it's nice to know that at least one person in Congress does too
Hold it right there! – You men from the bank?
You Wash's boy?
Yes, sir. Daddy told me to shoot who's ever from the bank.
We ain't from the bank, young fella.
Yes, sir. I'm supposed to shoot folks servin' papers.
We ain't got no papers, neither.
I nicked the census man.
Now, there's a good boy.

Respectful disagreement here. Census does not equal ACORN. Anti-census paranoia happened in 2000, and then it was the lefties who were exhibiting it because the census was supposedly "racist." It was just as silly coming from lefties then as it is coming from the other side of the spectrum now.
Barney Frank! The man who said no we can't punish Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac for improper lending, it is the Republicans fault anyway.
So now he says no lets not punish anyone how has a track record like ACORN.
How does a dirty old fairy get elected so many times in Mass. Are those people breathing laughing gas?
Red – LMAO, very well done…
Transplanted Lawyer – I understand your point but, and it's a big but, I think that the Census under this admin has taken a decisively political turn – intially they wanted to run it out of the White House! Having organizations like ACORN on board is suspicious at best and destructive to the purpose at worst. Something just stinks to high heaven about it. I think that I have a far more substantiated basis in thinking this than the ''racist'' claims of past, I do respect your opinion though!

Wonder if Ms Lowe has looked up what the penalties are for census fraud? With ACORN involved, this knowledge will prove useful.
As far as the 2000 census, there is another difference. In 2000 it was unfounded paranoia, now the right is concerned about the involvement of a group that has a strong and long track record of commiting felonies. The left always has trouble with the whole fact issue.
LCR and Transplanted lawyer: I think that they were going to , then werent going to and then quietly did move it to Rahm's control in the white house, and ACORN is absolutely running a big part of the census this time.
Red: that is AWESOME
finally Michelle Bachmann…LOVE HER.. have posted on here several times myself. Marsha Blackburn is another woman that I would absolutely vote for as President or anything else.
đ If you don't laugh, you'll stay angry.
Involving ACORN has "agenda" written all over it.
Red, KOOK, Chuck – I think that we know that this administration is using ACORN and other methods with the Census for political advantage, especially knowing their track record, it is very unsettling.
KOOK – send me an an email on a few bullet points on ACORN/Census fraud, etc, I'll give you a plug and put it up here…
All they get is folks living in the home, nothing else…period.
ACORN wants more than that,it will be a "get off my lawn" moment.
conservative Scal – I agree….
I'm liking Bachman the more I see of her. Acorn is a disgrace.
Love the blog. My heart swelled with pride as I read your profile. Anyone who is pro-capitalism and anti-European socialist is good people to me. (Oh, and I'm a native Californian myself….Bay Area). I'm going to add you to my blog roll if that's ok…..
goddess – Thanks for the compliment and I appreciate your support here, hope to see you more!
Economic Stimulus. H.R. 5140, the Economic Stimulus Act of 2008, passed 385-35 on January 29, 2008 (Roll Call 25). It would provide about $150 billion in economic stimulus, including $101.1 billion in direct payments of rebate checks (typically $600) to most taxpayers in 2008 and temporary tax breaks for businesses. Creating money out of thin air and then spending the newly created money cannot improve the economy, at least not in the long term. (If it could, why not create even more money for rebates and make every American a millionaire?) The stimulus has no offset and thus increases the federal deficit by the amount of the stimulus because the government must borrow the rebate money. A realistic long-term stimulus can only be achieved by lowering taxes through less government and by reducing regulatory burdens. Marsha Blackburn voted FOR this bill.(Source: The New American – July 21, 2008)
Marsha Blackburn is my Congressman.
She is no conservative.

Mickey
Mickey – Let's start a grassroots effort to give her the big fat boot, how can I help?
I can't wait for acorn to come a knocking:
I can't remember, I don't recall, what day is it?, are you from the hospital to help me?, can I come live with you since you are a real important rich Federal worker, do you have another pencil? I ate the one you gave me, what time do you get off work so we can hang out, do you eat your boogers too?
M Conserative Op – Awesome, I am urging others to do the same…..
I guess the census is ONE stimulus program that IS shovel ready.
barley – we can hope….
