A loyal reader of this blog knows that I think that the Democrats and the Obamanation are going all for broke, now or never. Progressives in power want it all – yesterday. The transformation is upon us; nationalization of key industries, bureaucratic number crunchers drooling over the US medical system, unforeseen debt levels, future curtailing of basic American freedoms, even tolls on the air that we breathe. A free society, hoodwinked into mass acceptance of all things antithesis to our values. A president at head of this transformation, moving to collectivization at a breakneck pace. Every new day, a provision of extra-constitutional activity; culminating abridgements of our way of life.
Looking at a photo album today I found a familiar quote, pondering if this quote holds relevance to today.
“The candle that burns twice as bright burns half as long.”
Half as long? Hmm. Mind you, I credit current day power brokers in quickly supplanting our Constitutional republic. But I credit one man the most. The Silver Tongue himself, the Obamanation. He has moved in such earnest fashion in the prior 6 months that if it were not so perilous, it would seem impressive. Using his gift of oration and talent of salesmanship, a malleable and eager public has allowed.
“The candle that burns twice as bright burns half as long.”
Could the tides be changing, is America rising from a slumber? I fear that she may not be, but a new Rasmussen poll shows an amazing shift in the populace here. Even after month to month media coronations and messianic state-run circus events, independents trust the GOP on the economy by a two-to-one margin. A broad swath of the public feels the same – 45% to 39%. On all economic issues, voters now trust Republicans by vast Rasmussen margins. Could it be that Atlas is Shrugging? Once again, story is here. Could it be that our President’s candle is fading?
Perhaps it’s a sense that Americans didn’t even have a debate on our course, much less a chance to stop it. Perhaps Americans know instinctively the basic laws of economics, of cause and effect here . That silver tongues and empty promises only go so far – that today’s budgets, deficits, and expansion in government mean an annihilation of our fiscal future. That throwing nearly a trillion deficit-financed dollars at special interest groups was indefensible. That such a bill had to be done immediately ”or the country would face irreversible damage”, here was fearmongering at it’s worst. And the Bright Candle was elected to curtail such things. Perhaps folks are drearily waking to the horror of a centrally planned medical system. That such a system here is the precise opposite of what America used to stand for here.
And if so, then the urgency here at the Left Coast Rebel is to engage future leaders of the GOP, true thinkers of individualism, freedom, limited governance, Austrian economics. Mainstream libertarians, Ron and Rand Paul acolytes – voices that echo such beliefs and sentiments. To live and rule by the words of Newt Gingrich on Sunday night, but not by his actions in the past. To rise up and find the voices that can carry the torch of liberty and basic Constitutional governance and to dispel the charlatans that would use an opposition party for an end to their means. To find our Reagan, our Goldwater. And to succeed.

GIMME REAGAN NOW! GIMME REAGAN NOW! {deep breath} Whew. Sorry. Tantrum over.
Opus – I know! Where is he?
I hope and pray the tide is turning. After reading this, I have the urge to get Ray Charles's version of "America the Beautiful" playing while visions of Reagan dance in my head.
Most excellent post!!!
Blackandgold – thanks, 3 1/2 hours in the making…..thanks for reading, I hope that I'm not talking to myself!
If the tide doesn't turn soon it will be more like Atlas Spikes than Atlas Shrugs.
Good Post Prisoner LCR
I often wonder the same thing, LCR. Unfortunately, most of the time I am.
Simplex – I agree
blackandgold – blogging is tough, it's a lot of work to put together something worth reading. With patience and work, you will find success…btw, I appreciate your emphasis on Ayn Rand
Newt is as smart as they come. Especially when it comes to the constitution. I was just telling someone on KOOK's blog earlier today that didn't know much about Newt that they should read every book, listen to every speech and watch every interview with Newt that they can find. Newt is one of those people that comes once in a generation and we are so so lucky he's on our side.
Andrew – I agree that he is incredibly intelligent. I also think that he committed numerous blunders over the years that hurt his credibility with conservative activists, that's why I said to ''live by his word, not necessarily his actions''..
You are right. Sometimes people are too smart for their own good which was Newt's problem politically.
Andrew – I suspect as much as well….
I linked to your post, but I figured you wouldn't mind.
Obama's going to try to set up Bush as a straw man for the deficit, but it's not going to work. First of all, the deficit problems are going to take us into new kinds of problems, which will be distinguishable from the old ones. Second, 50% of people believe the stimulus would cause problems down the road. You usually don't need to convince people that they were right.
Black and Gold fan, Blogging is alot of hard work and requires hours of study and dedication. honestly though, when it starts to take off and becomes successful as KOOK's Manifesto is for me, it is worth every minute. I joined forces with KOOK (Keeper of odd Knowledge) because we found we are like minded in both writing style and political views. I suggest finding a niche and put personality into your blog. KOOK does his rants, and I am sort of his "sideKOOK". I use my various areas of study such as history, environmental sciences, politics and religion and add a bit of humor. I found that by blogging as though I am in the room with my readers, I get much better responses. Commenting on other peoples' blogs helps get you readers too. I've looked at your blog and read some of your posts and I think you will do just fine. It takes time to build up followers. Remember that they are what it is all about. I joined forces with KOOK (Keeper of odd Knowledge) because we found we are like minded in both writing style and political views. LCR became a member of our blog today. When folks become members at our blog, I always visit their blog and chat with them a bit. Political views are important but people are the real reason for blogging. The successful bloggers always remember that and usually reply to comments. Joining with KOOK helped because we can share the workload as a team. We live in different parts of the country so we can each do local stuff that by ourselves wouldn't work. I don't know that joining forces is for everyone but it has been a total blessing for me. I got it easy too because he had his blog for a while before I joined. I had only blogged for about 2 months before we crossed paths. Now I consider KOOK a good friend and yet we've never met. B&G, you are welcome at KOOKs manifesto anytime. We want thinkers and good honest debate and I saw that on your blog.
LCR, I just signed on to your blog and I am going to sign on to Black and Gold fan's too,
C.G if you are talking about my blog, it is actually K.O.O.Ks blog. I am a co-contributor. It is fine for you to link to us. We want to get the message out. It's not our goal to talk to ourselves. That goes for anyone reading this.
LCR,
Another person you might want to add to the list (after the Pauls' and Gingrich's words) is Peter Schiff of Euro Pacific Capital. He's contemplating a senate run against Chris Dodd in Connecticut next year. Are you familiar with him?
Andrew – Plan on seeing me over at KOOK more, I think that we have a lot in common, I loved your Rush post!
Carl – I am familiar with Schiff, he was one of the canaries in the coal mine re: the recent economic meltdown, have you written on him? Please tell me that he has a shot against Dodd, I would really support him!
I haven't written about him but I probably will. Unfortunately I don't have near the insight on that race as I do Rand's. I know Dodd's in trouble because even the GOP establishment has been trumpeting with their lackeys Rob Simmons and Sam Caligiuri. OK, I don't know that they're lackeys but if the CT GOP supports them, what else could they be?
I can say that as of about a month ago Dodd was having major difficulty getting campaign contributions. I'll start looking around and get back to you.
Carl – that is a big story, I'll see what I can dig up. It would make me a very happy man to see Dodd go bye-bye, not quite as happy as Barney or Pelosi though, keep me posted on what you find?
Excellent POST!!!!!!!!!!! I surely hope his candle is down to a stub. I hope the "light" is fading in the eyes of the liberals, and they are figuring out what a charlatan he is……….. I hope America wakes up before it is AMERIKA………….
God Bless America.
I think you are being well read, and growing. And, very good post. I like the way you worked Newt in, and put up limits as well. He is an often overlooked treasure, speaks and writes well, but needs attention at times as he can and does wander afield. As well, I think he really is on our side, in that he actually loves the constitution and it's real intent (and he knows both).
As far as the candle burning twice as hot but half the time, I have a worry. Is it really o, or some other political entity, that we are dealing with? All I am saying is that, as he burns out, he will merely be shoved under the bus to be replaced. It's business. He is good at it, though I think he isn't the master, merely the puppet.
I wish I could get heartburn (almost). Cause a case of it once in a while would show my distress better. :p Oh, and I linked you this evening as well. I won't bring in much traffic for you, but if a few show up I would be happy. Keep up the good work.
"Perhaps it's a sense that Americans didn't even have a debate on our course, much less a chance to stop it."
I think we are helping shape the debate in forums such as these. Great post.
Thanks for the complement, but the Rush post was not one of my better posts. Check out "Empathy" and my Global warming posts. I enjoyed your candle post. By the way KOOK was also impressed with your blog. We are glad you came by as our blog had been on an island until recently, now we are steadily growing which is good as that gives us an opportunity to meet and chat with our new friends such as yourself. We try to put out the best content we can. KOOK and I make a good team and we compliment each other well. I believe that the sky is the limit for us. I believe that the sky is the limit for us. As more folks become disenfranchised with the Obama Regime
CPDcoppur – Thank you and I hope for the same!
Doom – I hope so in that I am trying to make a difference here, I agree with you on Newt…a brilliant man, but he tends to stray from conservatism…. I also agree that the obamanation is a puppet, but it could be that we see a swell of change in opinion to leftis/statism/progressivism/collectivism? thanks for linking!
Blue – I think so as well, thanks for your work too over at Blue!
Andrew – Thanks for the compliments and tell KOOK that I would like to see him here too, I'll support you guys as much as possible!
Obama is a puppet. The puppeteer is behind his Teleprompter. I believe it may be Soros or those close to him. Of all the people around Obama, Soros is the one with the money to pull strings. Oprah has that kind of money too and she is a leftist but I don't think she likes how quickly Obama has marched toward communism. That is just a gut feeling though. When I look at all the money players that surround Obama and I look at Obama's actions to date, they have Soros written all over them.
Andrew – I could be, I know that Soros' end goal is a collectivist USA, he's been pushing to kill conservatism for years. I think that he is a big part of the picture but not all of it. All Leftist power brokers are pulling the puppet's strings, all for the same goal. They have their Chosen One, the great Equalizer. And that is why they move so fast.
We agree there, but all roads, ties and moneytrails lead back toSoros.
Andrew – I certainly see your point!
I'm glad you do. However when you think I'm wrong, I want to know about it. I want people to debate me, not just blindly agree with me because I say it. MY goal in bogging is to get the asheeple to think for them selves. You obviously do and I like that. I am not offended by debate and whenI lose a debbate, I learn something that makes me a smarter person and means that is a debate that I won't lode next time. You may or may not know this but I have severe post concussion trauma. I fell 11 feet head first onto concrete. While quite painful, it has given me a second chance at learning from the ground up. I forget things easily and have to take a whole plethora of meds just to function but I am alive and able to write this despite having no feeling in my right hand, side or right leg. I can use then, but they are numb. God truly kept me alive that day. Gotta go exchange cars and pick up m=some medicine, ttyl
Andrew – I agree that debate can make your intellect stronger, that's inspiring as well that you have overcome an injury like that too, does it affect your ability to type? The human spirit is capable of many things…there's always hope
Not having feeling in my right hand makes it difficult. Also arthritis has set in but I have a new IMAC with the soft flat keys and they help a bunch. Another problem is that the concussion has given me dyslexia that comes and goes. The best thing i can do is read to exercise my brain, blog, to exercise hand-eye coordination and get as much physical exercise as my body will allow. MY Asian Leopard requires at least an hour of chase type games everyday or she will revert to being wild. That gives me at least some exercise.
Note that the only government assistance I get is free hospital. I turn down all else because I believe in smaller government. I actually practice what I preach. I could get full disability, but I couldn't look myself in the face and do this blog doing that.
This is one of my old posts from KOOK's blog. I mentioned it earlier so I will give you the post in it's entirety.
Neutering the language
I've wanted to post this one for a while but have been away: One huge way that the Obama regime has pulled the wool over the eyes of the masses is by “Neutering” our language. The true definition of neutering language is watering down lies so that they sound reasonable to the less educated masses. Those of us who understand the meanings of neutered language need to counter such language whenever and wherever it is heard. Here are some examples of neutered language.
"Community Organizer": Communist Agtitant.
"Cap and Trade": Energy Tax
"Green Energy": living in the stone age with no electricity or running water
"Man Made Disaster": Terrorist act
"Immigration Reform": Open Borders.
"Government/Corporate cooperation": Fascist or Communist takeover of our capitalist system
"Tax Cut": less of a massive tax increase than those richer than you
"Card Check": forced unionization of businesses to empower union thugs
"Economic Stimulus": wasteful government spending in an attempt to destroy our capitalist system through forced monitery inflation
"Climate Change": Man made destructive changes in climate made official by AlGore (PHD, Bovine Scatology)
"God": mythological being worshipped by extreme right wing kooks. God is in same mythological class as gnomes and unicorns.
These are just some of the Obaminations that are creeping into our language out of the white house. Those of us with common sense left must stand up and put a stop to this misuse of our language. Obama’s teleprompter will call a rattlesnake a caterpillar just so someone can get bit. If we don’t start fighting back on this front soon it will be to far gone.
I'd move Virginia to Blue simply because everybody who works in D.C. lives in N.VA making it hard for repubs to win there.
Andrew – I love your neutered language definitions, I agree with all of them, can I use this in the future? I am all too familiar with the twisting of the language here in CA, it's how the Left is so effective. BTW, all of those idiots that work for the fed Largess live in VA to get away from the high taxation largess…not in my own backyard mentality
That is why I posted it. I am trying to change the way we talk and therefore see things. If you have any to add, post them on Kooks blog so we can share them.
By the way did you know KOOK and I are issuing PHDs in Bovine Scatology? (People not from the south or midwest often don't get that) if that is the case, I will e-mail you with an explanation.
someone with "not in my own backyard" mentality -NIMBY
While I'm here, I just posted this on KOOK's blog. THis one is a special one for me.

've been waiting to do this blog since last summer and the opportunity finally arrived last Sunday afternoon. Probably many NASCAR fans among you and you already know what I am about to discuss. Tony Stewart a.k.a SMOKE (who my leopard is names after) left a championship organization that is one of the best in NASCAR to join with HAAS CNC racing, a mediocre team at best to become a team owner/driver in America's toughest sport. (Anyone who can find a sport where 43 teams play on the same field with 1 winner then I'll give it to you) Smoke got his first points win Sunday. Doing that with a new team in the first year is unheard of in the modern era of NASCAR. The thing is, my story isn't about the race, but it is about Smoke doing the American thing. He took a huge risk that probably would have ended his Nascar career with nothing less than success. Smoke did it. The reason he is successful at everything he does is not because he has a genie in a bottle to give him wishes. It's not because he's superman. It is not because he won the lottery off a welfare check! Tony understands people. People are what made this country great, just like picking the best people has made Stewart-Haas Racing great. So remember next time you see the #14 car on tv or in the newspaper, whether you are fans or not, they are doing it the American Way.
LCR, go over to KOOKs blog and read my latest (classic) post. It is probably one of the most important posts I ever wrote. Feel free to repost it here if you like.
Adrew – Just left a comment at your blog, I'll check back for a response at your site!
I read your response, what did you think of Weimar 2? How can it not scare you to death. We are copying NAZI Germany to the letter. NOw the shooting at the Holocaust memorial means a bit more at least to me.
LCR – I finally got a chance to read this post. Great analogy! We can only hope that the candle is waning. It will keep flickering until the people who voted for BO can ADMIT they made a mistake, link him to the bad economy and stop blaming Pres. Bush. Unfortunately, although people don't like BO's policies, they can't bring themselves to eat crow. Things are happening so quickly and I think once people are personally affected by BO's "changes", they will blow the candle out.
