Why was Al Franken so bored at Elena Kagan’s testimony today? Perhaps it’s because Al Franken knows what is bouncing around in Elena Kagan’s skull and considers the ‘hearings’ even less than a moot point. Does liberalism cause narcolepsy?:
Or does narcolepsy cause liberalism?
Narcolepsy of the brain, if I were to surmise from Elena Kagan’s empty, flowery, worthless speechifying today.
Exit question – Does, “I’ve learned that we make progress by listening to each other across every apparent political or ideological divide…”
Substitute, ‘I do solemnly swear to faithfully and impartially discharge and perform all the duties incumbent upon me as associate justice of the Supreme Court of the United States under the Constitution and laws of the Unites States, so help me God?’
If so, then perhaps the ‘redistribution of wealth to it’s rightful owners‘ really has replaced ‘the pursuit of happiness.’

UPDATED: Oh my goodness, he dropped the ‘s’ word! Does Senator Jeff Sessions (R-AL) sum up precisely that which I did above?:

I'd be tempted to be openly snoring on purpose during the first day of "testimony", where everyone reads their prepared remarks, tries to score political points, and nobody says anything unexpected whatsoever: it's a complete waste of time. Of course the entire hearing itself is likely also a complete waste of time, if only because nobody on the Republican side is likely to have the stones to call out the procedure for the useless charade it clearly is, or to bluntly hammer on how ridiculously unqualified Kagan is for the job. At least I'd have some juicy post-hearing comments to explain my snoring…
ReplyDeleteThe spineless Democrats raised hell and blocked Republican judges from even getting a hearing. This is the most unqualified nominee in scores of years and has a boatload of reasons not to confirm her and the Republicans are being cowards, afraid to say anything. BLOCK HER, FILIBUSTER HER!!!!!!

You state,
ReplyDelete"Does liberalism cause narcolepsy?:

It might serve you better not to use a serious illness as a set up for a joke, or to describe how boring someone's speech was. There are people out here, including myself, that actually have this disease, and struggle with it everyday. Poverty of language is no excuse, you are more intelligent than to have to resort to this kind of writing.
I hadn't seen Senator Sessions' speech today, but it looks like he covered all of the bases, while smiling throughout his speech.
ReplyDeleteMs. Kagan looked like she was ready to lose her lunch.
My initial thought after reading the first paragraph was,"does narcolepsy cause liberalism?" Because I cannot for the life of me comprehend what makes these people like they are other than a disease!
ReplyDeleteAnd to "Oh Hola I'm Ja:)" I don't think anyone wants to make light of your condition. But rather show how ridiculous this circus on the hill is! Sadly ridiculous…
Liberalism causes insanity. Commie Lib's sure make me crazy!
