I was right: Obama was behind Dems flip flop on God

By Dean L

Earlier I posted my thoughts on Obama being behind the removal of God and Jerusalem from the Democratic party platform for personal electoral reasons.  I said he was behind it all. It turns out I was right at least about him being behind it.

Via Big Government (emphasis added):
The Democratic National Convention, reeling from today’s chaotic fiasco surrounding the reinsertion of pro-Israel, pro-God language into the party platform, has announced that President Obama personally intervened to ensure that that language was revived. But Politico is now reporting that President Obama approved the original, Jerusalem-less, Hamas-less language less than a fortnight ago. He didn’t try to change the platform “until after Republicans jumped on the omissions of God and Jerusalem late Wednesday.” And his own party was clearly against it – the people on the floor of the convention probably didn’t even vote in majority numbers for the reinsertion of pro-Israel, pro-God language. They booed Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, the DNC chairman, off the stage after he rammed through the measure on the third vote.
That was fast.

  1. The Democrats do not need to "restore" God.
For they are not hypocrites like the Republicans.
    They LIVE their values. Honestly.
But the Republicans real god is MONEY,
and THEIR saints are those who have LOTS of it….and want it ALL.
Those Republicans who would destroy Social Security & voucher Medicare to death,
who would cut Pell grants, and who readily admit they “don’t care about the very poor”
should stop, remember, and take to heart the ancient words so relevant for today:
“Whatsoever you do for the least of these – you do for me”.
There is God in each of us. And that is why we are bound to each other.
If we do not believe that, and act upon that – then we are lost.
The Catholic Bishops agreed : The politics of Romney/Ryan masquerades as values
…while harming those who are most at risk.
Their budget does not praise God – it mocks God, it defiles God. And man…

    1. Ahh yes, the typical liberal platitudes. No substance here whatsoever, just a bunch of baseless accusations, and a bunch of claims of moral superiority without evidence to back it up.

Why not give us another 10 or so platitudes, maybe you'll change some minds if you double your efforts! LOL

    2. Exactly right LoneWolfArcher. Not only are baseless accusations, they are full of hyperbole. It's an easy (lazy) way to argue because it's so simple. Watch;

Stanchaz, come talk to me about restoring God when the seas stop rising like you were promised by your deliverer.

That's not an argument, it's a taunt. It helps nothing. Liberals argue like that because they cannot resort to reason. It eludes them. Besides, excoriating the other side makes them feel good about themselves.

  2. Is the Democrat's effort to remove God from the platform any different than Republicans booing Ron Paul for saying Matthew 7:12, one of the virtues of a Christian life, should be practiced by Republicans?

    1. Bungalow Bill, so you put someone misapplying scripture on the same plane as someone denying the very existence of the Author of said scripture?Typical liberal, even your moral equivalents aren't equivalent.

  3. Misapplying scripture? Does God believe we should be bombing brown people? Please show me that in the Bible. I am sure the owner of this blog will ensure you I am not a liberal. You can't have it both ways. You can't selectively choose scripture to push your political agenda LoneWolfArcher.

    1. Yes Ron Paul did misapply scripture. And yes, God does allow for justice in the Bible, including acts of war. Try reading the OT once in a while. Jesus taught us to turn the other cheek to try an diffuse situations, but this is the same Jesus that later overturned the tables and drove the money-changers out of the temple with a cat of nine tails!

You guys will take a scripture about one-on-one human interactions and try to turn into how to keep a country secure. That is a misapplication of the scripture.

  4. The Christian Just War theory is something Americans should live by. Attacking countries over lies doesn't seem very Christian to me, does it you Lone Wolf?

    1. Attacking a country that for 12 years reneged on terms of its ceasefire agreement is the epitome of a Just War. You can yell from the rooftops about the WMDs that weren't found all you want, Iraq had to be dealt with sooner or later. I was for sooner.

    2. Oh try reading Romans 13:1-4 sometime: Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.2 Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:4 For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.

Saddam was an evil-doer. I have no doubt that God used our government to execute wrath upon him.
