The Humble Libertarian – W.E. Messamore and the Future of the Liberty Movement

by the Left Coast Rebel

So last night I had a nice little treat in my LCR inbox. Turns out it was Wes Messamore with the blog The Humble Libertarian. Wes was returning an email correspondence that I had with him fairly recently in regards to possibly putting up a guest post here at LCR.

As it turns out, Wes’s email to me was fairly involved, covered several topics and also had some interesting insight and constructive feedback. In fact it was so involved that I opted to phone him with the number he provided, (no I cannot give it out, as per his request). We talked for an hour, coming away from the conversation with him I felt invigorated. “What an incredible young man”, I thought, “More of a thinker and orator than I with a dozen less years….there is hope for America and liberty with young citizen-thinkers like Wes”.

As a team Wes and I will be evolving the Left Coast Rebel. In fact you may have already noticed a slightly leaner site. We plan on doing more; changing the look and feel of the site eventually and taking it to the next level. As always, feel free to offer your instructive input and opinion as well.

But enough of me, back to the intent of this post. As many of you know, I am a true conservative in my heart of hearts. I am a Reagan-kid. I believe in the Constitution. I believe in the sanctity of the individual, free markets and free minds. I believe in the freedom to choose and the freedom to succeed and fail. I believe in Libertarian ideals. To me, libertarian ideals are conservative ideals.

As a dutiful reader of my site, you may note that all freedom-loving Americans are my friends. GOPers, Independents, Conservatives, Left-Libertarians, Ron Paulistas, Palin fans…..the list goes on.

But tonight I draw your attention to the young man above, a voice with a vision of youth, (he’s only 22), a refreshing outlook for the cause of liberty, a humble approach towards those that value freedom over security. A Truly Humble Libertarian.

Visit his site, he’s actually celebrating his 1st blogger-birthday on October 2. Take part in his contest of celebration. When you enter, you have a chance to win 3 separate prizes –

  1. An autographed copy of the Constitution and Declaration of Independence by none other than Rand Paul, son of Ron Paul.
  2. A 1 year NRA membership which includes all kinds of goodies.
  3. A copy of “The Revolution : A Manifesto” by Ron Paul.

In closing, give Wes a shout out, visit his site daily, blow up his web-counter. Pass this post along and help me grow his voice and his site. And thanks for reading the Left Coast Rebel too.

He seems like a straight kid. No, I take that back, like a straight young man. Now that is nuanced. Anyway, I enjoyed reading what I saw, but I am a doubting Thomas. Well, I am not actually a Thomas (that is a quota boy nuance). I am looking forward to you having a right hand man (or the reverse? *grins*).

Why? If he is anything like you, the two of you can do some serious damage. Doubling output of good on good is more like exponential than power growth.

What does make your blog good (very good), if you want to know and I know you do, it is that you do not disparage dissent, you do not spar about what is not necessary, you keep the ideas flowing and open, yet you stay quite on target, and you do it frequently.

Good luck in this. Change what you like, but do not change what works. I am more than looking forward to the addition and changes.

@ Nickie – Thank man, give him a shout out and enter his drawing, anything you could do on your site too would be much appreciated….don't worry about me pushing him around, I think he can hold his own :).

@ Doom – Like the nuance! Fret not my friend, many of the changes here at LCR will essentially just make the site more effective. My voice, clarity, freqency will not change one bit. Thans a million for the feedback and compliments!

Teaming up seems to have worked really well for us at KOOK's. Our readership is going up, we work well as a team both online and working on the ground as a team in DC for 9/12. I hope that this is as successful for you as it was for us. I will repeat to you what I did THL's, we went to an internet activist class os seminar or whatever you call it. Anyways, we got some really good tips there. One was throw in some local stuff, it seems to work really well for bloggers, more importantly, just do what you're good at. As a sports fan, I see the value of playing to your strengths. That was what KOOK and I really figured out from that class. I'm not positive about this, but I think the fellow that is being sued by ACORN was in that class as well. My memory of the whole trip was blurred by a strained knee ligament and the fact that I had to take alot of painkillers just to be able to walk. By Saturday afternoon during the protest, the painkillers were having no effect at all and it was difficult to walk. It was well worth it though as I believe we were a part of history in the making there.

Excellent! Hubby and I will visit his site. I'm beginning to think that it's the young folks that are gonna 'save the world'. So many people my age (53) and older let it get screwed up with all the liberal crap (can I say that?) from the 60s & 70s. I've always been a conservative but that's from my accounting background I think. Anyway, Go get'em Wes!

Visited The Humble Libertarian today. I must say his interview with RJ Harris was impressive, as is his blog. I will frequent often.

It is great to see a young bright individual such as Wes taking an active role in working to get out the message of liberty and limited government. Restores one's faith in the younger generation. Go after em Wes!

Plugged Wes's sight on my facebook and twitter account, and will be adding to my blog roll.

Thank you folks so much for your kind words here, on my blog, and at your respective websites!

It is extremely humbling and thoroughly motivating to get this kind of feedback just days before my blog's 1st birthday.

I look forward to sharpening and being sharpened by all of you, that we may be a mighty weapon to slay the leviathan of tyranny and corruption in America and everywhere.
