Piers Morgan asked a question about abortion within the specific context of rape and incest:
“But you’ve had children, grandchildren. If one of your female children, grand children was raped, you would honestly want her to bring up that baby as her own?”
Herman Cain said the following:
… it comes down to it’s not the government’s role or anybody else’s role to make that decision. Secondly, if you look at the statistical incidents, you’re not talking about that big a number. So what I’m saying is it ultimately gets down to a choice that that family or that mother has to make. Not me as president, not some politician, not a bureaucrat. It gets down to that family. And whatever they decide, they decide. I shouldn’t have to tell them what decision to make for such a sensitive issue.
It sounds to me like Cain is saying that within the context of rape and incest, government should stay out of the decision. Cain gave a nearly identical response to the question of abortion to save the life of the mother, so I wasn’t particularly surprised by this. Here’s what Cain said on Meet the Press:
MR. GREGORY: What about abortion? You want to overturn Roe v. Wade. Could you support or condone abortion under any exceptions at all?
MR. CAIN: I believe in life from conception, and I do not agree with abortion under any circumstances.
MR. GREGORY: Exceptions for rape and incest?
MR. CAIN: Not for rape and incest because…
MR. GREGORY: What about life of the mother?
MR. CAIN: Because if you look at, you look at rape and incest, the, the percentage of those instances is so miniscule that there are other options. If it’s the life of the mother, that family’s going to have to make that decision.
MR. GREGORY: Mm-hmm. But you can–would you condone abortion if the life of the mother were…
MR. CAIN: That family is going to have to make that…
MR. GREGORY: You won’t render a judgment on that.
MR. CAIN: That family is going to have to make that decision.
The MSM is presenting this as a sort of schizoid conflict of opinions, and it’s created a firestorm on conservative websites. What do you think?

I think that vast majority of people opposed to abortion still fall into the "No abortion allowed except in the case of rape, incest, or danger to the life of the mother" category. Sounds like Cain's in that category too, based on these statement. It's the category I'm in as well, so I can't say I have any problem with what he's said.
I don't see any real inconsistency between the two interviews.
But what is more interesting is that you never hear about the media asking this type of questions of Demoncrats!
Where was this line of thinking when Obama believed in letting a botched abortion die?!
I have a friend who was born as a result of rape. An exceptional person!
The number of women pregnant as a result of rape is roughly equal to the number who won the Powerball lottery. In other words, it's what's reffered to as a "statistical zero". People who bring up rape and incest when the subject is abortion are simply people who don't have the balls to say they advocate the killing of unborn children. The answer to Piers Morgan's dumb fck question is simple. "If I had to settle for excepting the one hundredth of one percent of babies who were conceived as the result of rape or incest being killed so that the other 99.99% could be saved, that's a compromise I would be willing to accept. Are you wanting the 99.99 percent to die, so you can rest easy knowing that the .01% are dead too?"
No one ever asks these assholes to defend the sub-human barbarism they support through their advocacy on behalf of the child killing industry.
Cain is right.
Abortion is vile and reprehensible, but it is a choice. I hate it. I detest it. Just like I detest murder and stealing. But it comes down to that individual, period. Legislation cannot create morality. Legislation can only punish immorality.
Abortion should never have become a political issue for the convenience of sound bites on a campaign trail, and Mr. Cain stopped Piers from fomenting that. Bravo, sir.
Herman Cain is our next American President.
Life, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
Cain simply understand Marg Sanger and why most abortion clinics / planned parenthood offices are located in black neighborhoods, even affluent ones. He actually understands the solutions offered by the left.
Chuck, its amazing how much we are on the same sheet of music. You stated my position precisely.
Id add that within 100 years, advances in birth control and changes in attitudes will make abortion obsolete. As the number gets smaller and there is less profit from it, supply if abortuaries will diminish. Even now the number of doctors who train in the procedure is shrinking.
From a pragmatic standpoint, politics is at an impasse. We are not going to get it banned nor will there be widespread public funding. Incrementally, we might make headway on parental knowledge or consent. It disgusts me that a 14 year old can't get her ears pierced without permission, but she can get an abortion without her parents knowledge.
History will not be kind to abortion. Women 200 years from now will be saying, " what did we think we were fighting for?"
So I advocate a firm stance against, accept the few exceptions as a moral and political tradeoff, would fight for common sense limitations, and look forward to the future when this will only be discussed in History classes.
"Chuck, its amazing how much we are on the same sheet of music. You stated my position precisely."
Thanks for the kudos and all, but I think that's the position of about 80 percent of Americans. The problem is with the rhetoric. The American left is a culture of death. They couch the subject of child killing in friendly, appealing language. The supposed right should do the same thing.
I'd love to stand in a mall doing surveys asking passersby if they support a woman's right to kill. Instead, douchebags are asking, "Do you support a woman's right to control her reproductive health?" The person answering the question isn't informed that the asshole asking the question considers killing a living child for fun and profit to be "health care".
"Terminate a pregnancy" is another one of those accepted non sequiturs that drives me nuts.
How 'bout I terminate a traffic stop by paying my passenger to kill a police officer? After all, I have a right to choose. What about terminating a childhood? There are vermin on the left who advocate that. They work for universities,of course.
Seems we're all in agreement over the murder of babies labeled "Abortion".
I would like to have seen him just shut Piers Morgan down by explaining how the procedure is done. Making it virtually impossible for anyone with half a brain to envision what is being done!
Not all questions deserve a direct answer!
