Avatar Movie Review From a Conservative: Avatar is Worth Seeing?

by the Left Coast Rebel

Well shiver me timbers, I never would have guessed that one of my conservative/libertarian-leaning brethren would have seen ‘Avatar’ and walked away liking it, a lot. And not only for the dazzling special effects but for the story line as well. Perhaps I wrote it off to quickly and need to reconsider? KOOK’s Manifesto:

And everyone had prepared me for a very pretty movie that was overly political. I gotta say, I really liked it. I simply did not see the political overtones that many others complained about. And it is a delicious looking movie, stunning. The story is, in many ways, a retelling of Dances with Wolves. But this is a story that can be told over and over again, for new generations, it is a timeless sort of tale.

Any of you who read this blog know that if there were political overtones in this movie I would have likely noticed. I just didnt see it. I see it in many of the movies and TV shows today, but just not really here.

The main two complaints was that it was Left Wing, and it was an Eco Green movie, and neither of which seemed true to me.

Smurfs with alien guns/crossbows, native american themes clocking in at over 3 hours? Color me blue, (read skeptical), still, but interesting nonetheless.

I too was stunned by the special effects and CGI. But to be completely oblivious of the blatant leftist politics in Avatar is borderline retarded.

Knowing who directed it, I can't help feeling he has an axe to grind. Revisionism in fiction.

The movie had an obvious green agenda to me, but since I expect that from Hollywood, I was not surprised and I was able to enjoy the heck out of the movie.

I can sum it up easy:
1. The earth is God
2. Capitalism is evil
3. Mankind is evil
4. Civilization is bad
5. Technology is bad

How I hate this movie

Guys I live y'all but I disagree. It was not Earth. It was whatever their world was called and they were part of it. Much like the American natives thought towards the earth. No one said our technology was bad. They just didn't much care for humans coming to their planet and killing them and taking their land and their resources. Like Freud said, sometimes a cigar is just a freaking cigar.

@hack. Hey I like tatur totz as much as the next guy but I don't thinkcalling me retarded was really warranted.

And I have labored through several three hour movies; you won't notice.

Breitbart's Big Hollywood has a good article on this as well. I love watching movies, but I'm never surprised at Hollywood propaganda. They used to do it for the good guys during WW II all the way up until the mid 60's, now the do it for every petty liberal cause.

Still there are the good messages too, like Spiderman 3 and the latest Batman.

If it's a retelling of Dances With Wolves then I definitely won't see it. I think that movie is absolute torture and we should use it to get information from terrorists. Play Dances With Wolves over and over again and the terrorists will tell us anything just to make it stop. But of course that's just my opinion.

Now libs are upset because the movie has cigarettes in it. You know sex is fine in movies as long as the baby can be thrown in a trash can a couple months after conception, but we can't have smoking in movies. Very bad.

It must have a commie-lib agenda because my critism of it drew fire from the far-left. 'Nuff said. 🙂
