Arizona and Illegal Immigration Again in the Spotlight

by: Les Carpenter

Birthplace of Independent Conservatism

I must confess, the left has a way of perpetually amusing the more reasonable and forever pandering to those that can put and keep them in power. At the expense of the American Republic.

Arizona, in continuing its attempt to respond legislatively to control the steady stream of illegal, and thus criminal, immigration is once again vilified by a pandering and bleeding heart cadre of leftist hyperbole.

Of course the illegal and criminal immigration goes beyond just Arizona. As we know the apparently impotent Federal Bureau of Immigration and Naturalization and its enforcement arm has essentially done little to nothing to stop and control the flood of illegals into the country.

This from NYT’s opinion page.

Arizona made itself ground zero for a new nativism last year with a radical policing law that encouraged racial profiling and declared the mass expulsion of undocumented immigrants to be official state policy. This led to boycotts, slumping tourism and convention business, and lawsuits, including one by the Obama administration. Yet Arizona’s current legislative session is overstuffed with nativist bills, several of which passed through committee on Tuesday in an “omnibus” measure.

They include:

A bill to chop up the 14th Amendment to deny citizenship to children born in Arizona to undocumented mothers. A bill requiring hospitals to check every patient’s citizenship status, turning doctors and nurses into the immigration police. A bill to deny education to undocumented children by requiring proof of citizenship to enroll in any public or private school. A bill to criminalize driving by illegal immigrants, and to evict them from public housing. This will fix nothing, and do real harm.

The birthright citizenship bill interprets the 14th Amendment in a way no federal court or Congress ever has. The state would issue a different type of birth certificate to babies whose parents lack papers. It’s a nonexistent problem; women are not sneaking over the border to have babies who — when they turn 21 — may be able to sponsor them for green cards. The plan will not drive away illegal immigrants, but it would turn generations of young Americans into deportable criminals.

The Supreme Court has ruled that undocumented children have a right to primary education, because the country is not served by perpetuating an illiterate underclass. And yet Arizona’s elected leaders persist in their assault on that principle. The bills’ sponsors don’t seem to care about the damage they do. They are bent on inflaming the anxieties in a changing country, even when crime is down in border cities and immigration has tapered off. New Census data shows America’s population growing more slowly than it has since the 1930s — another era of rampant bigotry and racial scapegoating.

We hope the angry Arizonans, and the rest of the country, will soon return to their values. Citizenship by birth and assimilation of newcomers are central to the American experiment. All that separates our newest immigrants from previous waves is the lack of a working system to assimilate them.

Arizona ought to be applauded for its stance and commitment to doing what should have been long ago by the feds. Foreigners gaining entrance into the United States from foreign lands is not a right, it is rather a privilege and should be considered as such.

What it is the left fails to understand about the concept of “illegal immigrant or alien” who knows, but it seems to be quite prevalent among the feeble of heart. On the other hand, and to be fair, the conservative business community that has perpetuated the problem by knowingly employing illegals in defiance of the law ought to have their proverbial criminal a*ses handed to them as well.

Arizona and its law, based on SB 1070 which really mirrors existing federal law, is reasonable, it is the right approach, and it ought to become the basis on which to effectively reinvigorate federal immigration law and enforcement.

The left has it wrong…. again.

Picture of the Day Year

by the Left Coast Rebel

Beers With Demo calls the picture above a ‘messaging problem’ and has the details:

Two men carrying Mexican flags in protest of Arizona’s immigration law ran into the outfield during the seventh inning of the New York Mets’ game against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday night at Citi Field.

The men were apprehended by security fairly quickly without much incident.

Prior to the game, about 40 people across the street from the ballpark chanted “Oppose racism!” and “Boycott Arizona!”

Others stationed closer to the subway exit handed out leaflets that requested Major League Baseball move next year’s All-Star game out of Phoenix.

Maybe it was a false flag operation as there is no surer way to turn sympathy for your cause into indignation than running around with foreign nation’s flag as the crowd’s chants of “U-S-A!…U-S-A!” did attest.

But chances are, it wasn’t a false flag operation but rather a counterproductive stunt performed by one of the true believers.

Recall when the open borders crowd started ramping up their protests some 4 years ago and everyone showed up with Mexican flags in Los Angeles on the first day but American flags on the second day as leadership, knowing Mexican flags are a P.R. disaster, sent out the word, pleading with the protestors to sport Old Glory.

Just as the messaging veil slips from time to time, it is merely evidence that this isn’t about profiling, it isn’t about discrimination and it isn’t even about Mexico or Mexicans, per se. These messaging hiccups occur because they cannot be helped as setting at the core of the broad umbrella of the open borders crowd beats a heart of race-based identity politics and victimization. Its a philosophy that detests capitalism and American exceptionalism and to which the rule of law is a completely foreign concept.

Judge Bolton… Another Judge Cloned BY The ACLU

By: Les Carpenter III
Rational Nation USA

I suppose it was to be expected. Judge Susan R. Bolton, a former President William Jefferson (no resemblance to President Thomas Jefferson) Clinton appointee has struck down key provisions of Arizona’s immigration law. Judge Bolton’s actions are consistent with the typical disregard the statist has for the will of the people in general, and the rule of law specifically.

What has just occurred is federal judge thumbing her nose at not only the citizens of the state of Arizona, but at all Americans, who in majority support the Arizona law. In fact several states have been considering actions of their own to effectively control illegal immigration to their states. The federal government, by consistently and methodically failing to enforce immigration laws, created the reason Arizona acted, and why other states have been considering similar measures.

The ACLU, one of America’s most progressive collectivist bodies is solidly behind the efforts to overturn Arizona’s perfectly legal SB 1070, the bill that created their new law. What the federal government really is after is just this… amnesty for all current illegals in the country and a cake walk path to citizenship in the future for all desiring entrance into our country.

If this is not so then someone please explain why nothing has been done going all the way back to the Reagan years to control the onslaught of illegals entering our country. When the question is asked… a defensing silence is always the response. Yet when a Governor with the, excuse the expression – balls to take action and show leadership finally arrives on the scene, the response is to handcuff and shackle her efforts.

The very federal government that is “supposed to protect the interests of the federal union” (which by the way was initially entered into voluntarily by all states) is failing miserably. The issue of illegal immigration points this up better than almost any other issue. It is time the citizens of the nation make their voices heard. And it is long past time for the government to take heed. The majority of legal American citizens support tougher immigration laws. They also support Arizona’s new law… the way it was written.

I suppose I am ranting here. However it is about time those who understand that the issue is all about ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION stand up in unison and force their voices to be heard. Arizona’s new law has nothing whatsoever to do with racism, racial profiling, abridging a citizens rights, or any other nefarious act. Rather it is about protecting Arizona’s right to control it’s borders and insure the safety of it’s people.

Find Arizona Governor Jan Brewers appearance on Hannity discussing the subject on my Twitter and Facebook pages. Stand tall Governor Brewer. Take the fight to those who would work against securing your your bonders and those of the United States of America. The final judgement is not in. When it is the rights to secure our borders will be vindicated.

The joke of the day is this statement by Hannah August of the Justice Department... While we understand the frustration of Arizonans with the broken immigration system, a patchwork of state and local policies would seriously disrupt federal immigration enforcement.”

This statement says two things. First the fed’s (Obama and minions) want to increase further their failed statist agenda, and second, how does one hamper an enforcement policy that has been non existent?

Stay tuned.
