One "Personal Health ID" IRS Form to Rule Them All

By the Left Coast Rebel

Matt Drudge has a link today regarding the new ObamaCare "personal health ID" requirements you and I will have to send over to the nice folks at the IRS once ObamaCare is implemented.

One piece of paper to rule them all...

Obamacare IRS Form

More from Americans for Tax Reform:

When Obamacare’s individual mandate takes effect in 2014, all Americans who file income tax returns must complete an additional IRS tax form. The new form will require disclosure of a taxpayer’s personal identifying health information in order to determine compliance with the Affordable Care Act’s individual mandate.

As confirmed by IRS testimony to the tax-writing House Committee on Ways and Means, “taxpayers will file their tax returns reporting their health insurance coverage, and/or making a payment”.
So why will the Obama IRS require your personal identifying health information?

Simply put, there is no way for the IRS to enforce Obamacare’s individual mandate without such an invasive reporting scheme.  Every January, health insurance companies across America will send out tax documents to each insured individual.  This tax document—a copy of which will be furnished to the IRS—must contain sufficient information for taxpayers to prove that they purchased qualifying health insurance under Obamacare.
More at the link.

There was a time in America (not even that long ago, frankly) when this type of infringement upon our privacy and liberties would have been met with near-violent revulsion. Americans would not have accepted garbage like this. Think about it, for God's sake, our forefathers risked their lives to protest a miniscule tea tax from the British crown.

Today we've given it all away with nary a whimper:

On the form, lines 3-4 show where taxpayers will disclose their personal identifying health information.

Awesome! We all saw this coming after this damn thing was passed but I still have to ask: What kind of country are we living in?

Updated: In the comments, fellow SLOB, Charles Fettinger from DooDooEconomicsBlog:

Universal healthcare is doomed in America. We are too comfortable with things like developing cures, innovating technology and allowing infants and the elderly to live outside of the "whole lives" system. We simply do not want the government picking "survivors and losers."

When comparing America to a universal healthcare system:

1) We are not a homogeneous population that can be optimized with similar health care concerns.

2) America makes most of the innovations that the universal health care systems pick and choose from for treatment options. Health Care is a race against disease. A fully implemented American Universal system will take the world's best innovators out of the race against disease.

3) These "universal" systems then send the people they do not want to treat, to the American health system for treatment. Under a fully implemented American universal system, we are not going to pay for foreigners. This system will disappear for them, and we will not have a similar option. Maybe we can send people to China, India or Singapore for non-covered treatments?

4) Insurance companies may currently get to pick treatments, but there are multiple insurance companies to choose from. If the government picks the treatment options, there is no way to fire the government and choose a better option and no one can put the government out of business for malpractice.

  1. "f Mitt Romney defeats President Obama on Election Day, November 6, 2012, and Republicans take control of the Senate and maintain their majority in the US House, youmay disregard this form as Romney has promised to repeal Obamacare."

This is unlikely to happen. A complete repeal has low to zero odds of happening. Romney himself has walked back his earlier statement. He will keep parts of ObamaCare, after all it was patterned after his Massachusetts healthcare reform law. Which incidentally has a mandate as well.

Somebody should have called the Swiss. They have a universal health care system that is actually working. And, the best part is, no one can call the Swiss Marxists.

I guess at this point it truly is, what it is.

    1. I totally agree this is unlikely to happen too, Les. The Swiss system has a lot to like and should be a model to at least study. One thing I didn't think or mention in the post is this: what happens if/when millions of Americans REFUSE to fill out the new ObamaCare IRS form? I wonder what they will do beyond fining them?
