Back From Costa Rica...

By the Left Coast Rebel

Hi everyone,

As you know, I visited Costa Rica last week and returned yesterday and am just starting to upload the mountains of pictures and videos of our stay there.

Needless to say, the trip was almost indescribable: Costa Rica is truly one of the most amazing places in the world. Here's just a taste of some of the sights and sounds.

This is the Arenal volcano, where our first stay was - an absolutely stunning, gorgeous and peaceful area of the country away from the coast (closer to the center of Costa Rica). The volcano isn't active but it does spew a bit of steam from the peak. It has erupted recently (a year or two ago); according to travellers I talked to, this puppy shakes the entire resort (and miles of outlying area) when she gets irked and lets off a bit 'o steam and lava.

I took this picture at sunset at Playa Blanca, the central Pacific coast of the country. This area is breathtaking as well - humid, exotic and a lot different than the Arenal area.

OK. Wow. We took this shot yesterday, peering over the bridge that crosses over the Tarcoles river. The Tarcoles river has the highest population of crocodiles per sq. kilometer (75) of anywhere in the world. Imagine falling over the edge here?
