Jon Mcnaughton's Latest Painting "The Empowered Man"

By the Left Coast Rebel

We've written about Utah-based patriotic artist Jon McNaughton several times here at LCR; his new piece, "The Empowered Man" depicts a man holding up the Constitution as Obama recoils in horror.

Past presidents the author finds faithful to our founding document are to the man's right; those that are not are to the left (I completely disagree with his portrayal of Lincoln, you can read why here).

From the artist's website:

Do we have freedom when half the country pays taxes to support the other half?
Do we have freedom when government regulates every aspect of our lives?
Do we have freedom when our currency is controlled by a corporation that has no accountability to the American people?
Do we have freedom when we have more debt than can possibly be repaid?

We need a federal government that does not hinder the American people by unnecessary financial and regulatory burdens.

The government bureaucracy is to a point where it is no longer worth what the tax payer is required to maintain it. The Constitution outlines exactly what the federal government's role is in our lives. All other duties are to be administered by the state. We can see which states are financially solvent and which are not. Take the worst state, put it on steroids and you have the federal government. I wonder how many Americans realize they have sold our God given freedoms for a mess of pottage.

Well said. View the rest of his work here.

  1. This could have been a powerful expression of the artist's feelings, but he's been absolutely led astray by his hatred of Obama. The whole body of Obama is proportionally wrong and anatomically incorrect: weird hands, right arm not possible, left ear askew...but someone's gonna buy it.

    1. I think you're projecting your own hatred.

  2. i agree with above-obama was done wrong. the disinterest shown by the others on the right of the drawing should have been mirrored. or at least the smugness should have been caught-i would have used o's "mussoulini" stance.

then again, o still is in power so maybe that is why he is the only one addressing TEM.

nice to see they got FDR on the correct side.

  3. I like it, and how many examples of Obama's disdain of our system of government will it take to open the eyes of his zombie-like followers? Fast and Furious vs 2nd Amend, Obamacare abortion mandate vs religious freedom, killing American Citizens vs due process, auto & bank bailouts that stole property rights, etc.. the list is endless!

    Oh boy a pop-quiz.

Do we have freedom when half the country pays taxes to support the other half? YES!
Having a safety under the high-flying trapeze artist does not prevent the artist from being any better or worse than the individual wants to be.

Do we have freedom when government regulates every aspect of our lives? YES! Government exists every time two or more people interact. It is referred to as etiquette, order, customs, policies, rules, regulations, and/or laws. You know, civil society.

Do we have freedom when our currency is controlled by a corporation that has no accountability to the American people? Yes, currency has no affect on freedom.

Do we have freedom when we have more debt than can possibly be repaid? Which debt is that, the debt that the international corporations and wealthy do not have to pay because they own Congress? Funny how paying for services rendered seems not to be something the hate-machine of the RW cares about.

"We need a federal government that does not hinder the American people by unnecessary financial and regulatory burdens." Agree completely! The people do need the Federal, State, and Local governments to use financial and regulatory rule, and laws to stop the criminal banksters, corporate thieves, and RepublicanT Party supporters.

"The government bureaucracy is to a point where it is no longer worth what the tax payer is required to maintain it." Really? Breathing clean air, drinking clean water, driving safely on roads/highways, working safely, eating untainted food, being treated fairly/equally under the law, and receiving quality health care are no longer worth what the taxpayer is required to maintain it? Really, to whom? Where (only in RW hate-machine land)?

Oh btw, the guy's drawing are very very very funny. For the record, Abe Lincoln was accused of doing even worse than any Democratic President and Ronald Reagan loved to go around the Constitution (ever heard RR's secretly trading arms for hostages and financing South American death squads?).

    1. Sounds like something a Facist might have written. Did you get that from the Nazi party platform?

    2. I second Les's sentiment: where in the world did you learn your political philosophy?
