Obama is still suffering from the Speech Illusion, the idea that he can come down from the mountain, read from a Teleprompter, cast a magic spell...

By the Left Coast Rebel

I loathe NYT "columnist" Maureen Dowd's dumbed-down chickified limo-liberal weekly screeds. Yes, she is even dumber than Peggy Noonan but it's still often hard to choose the more inane and vapid of the two.

Nevertheless this is certainly quoteworthy, from today's NYT:

Obama is still suffering from the Speech Illusion, the idea that he can come down from the mountain, read from a Teleprompter, cast a magic spell with his words and climb back up the mountain, while we scurry around and do what he proclaimed.

The days of spinning illusions in a Greek temple in a football stadium are done. The One is dancing on the edge of one term.

The White House team is flailing — reacting, regrouping, retrenching. It’s repugnant.

After pushing and shoving and caving to get on TV, the president’s advisers immediately began warning that the long-yearned-for jobs speech wasn’t going to be that awe-inspiring.

It is repugnant. But smart people have been saying this for quite some time, Maureen.

Via Memeorandum.

Updated: The inimitable Smitty dissects the entire Dowd-Obama-downer column. Bravo on the patience factor, Chris.

  3. ..you all want a real thrill from MoDo's column? Go read the comments. The cries of anguish and lamentations over their fallen hero were epic and so mournful that the NYT shut off further remarks at 244, the cowards.

The joy you will receive from reading all of the moaning can be characterized as *the* definition of schadenfreude.

    Enjoy gang!
