(PHOTOS) Reuters Releases, then Pulls, Graphic PHOTOS from Osama Bin Laden Raid (GRAPHIC WARNING)

by the Left Coast Rebel

My buddy Donald Douglas at American Power scooped me on this (nice work) as did Bungalow Bill.

Reuters paid for a series of photos taken after the Navy SEAL Team 6 raid wherein Osama bin Laden was killed, then promptly pulled them from the internet.

Too late, Reuters: as expected, savvy new-media types grabbed the gory photos before they vanished -- one even shows the downed Navy SEAL helicopter.

Here's one of the photos, an unidentified man, dead as a squashed cockroach:

I'm not going to post all of the pictures here but you can view the entire lot at BBCW and lots more at American Power (Warning: GRAPHIC)

Methinks the Osama bin Laden death photos are going to be coming down the pike soon enough, this Reuters teaser is just that: a teaser.

Obama thus gets to have it both way as likely planned: going on the record as being against the release of photos of Osama's corpse yet most likely knowing that they are going to be "leaked" regardless.

  1. Thanks for the link. The traffic from this has been great.

  2. I don't think we will ever see an authentic Osama Bin Ladin death photo.

  3. Bungalow Bill: I must disagree, humbly, with your statement. We WILL see that photo -- just before the 2011 election, as this will be the only plus from the Once's current term that they will be able to point to!

As an aside, the UK Herald reports: Mr Panetta was directly in charge of the team, a US official said, and his conference room was transformed into a command centre.
