(CNN) - An administration official briefed by the White House says he was told the president has decided against the release of Osama bin Laden photos.
Updated: For the life of me, I cannot think of an example that better portrays how feckless, clueless, out-of-his-element and pathetic our president is. I am seething and words (almost) fail me.
Jake Tapper, earlier today:
"Compelling" reasons that failed to surface -- at least in Obama's head -- include closure for 9-11 victim's families, resistance to street-thug Islamists who will carry out violence anyway...proof for the world that Osama bin Laden is in fact dead...
There don't seem to be many skeptics of bin Laden's death in the Muslim world, with bin Laden's wife having survived the attack to identify bin Laden's death both to the Navy SEALs and Pakistani authorities.
Meanwhile, sources say, Defense Secretary Robert Gates and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton are advising the president about concerns at the Pentagon and State Department that releasing a photograph could prompt a backlash against the US for killing bin Laden where one does not seem to currently exist.
How many other "compelling" reasons are there?

Leave it to this bunch to do this to us!

Updated x3: CBS News will air an interview with Obama tonight wherein he "explains" why he won't allow release of Osama's death photos:
In an interview with Steve Kroft for this Sunday's "60 Minutes," President Obama says he won't release post-mortem images of Osama bin Laden taken to prove his death.
Video of the comments will appear on the CBS "Evening News" on Wednesday.
