Breaking: Obama Decides that Osama bin Laden Death Photos Will NOT be Released

by the Left Coast Rebel

And there you have it, via CNN:

(CNN) - An administration official briefed by the White House says he was told the president has decided against the release of Osama bin Laden photos.

More information forthcoming...

Updated: For the life of me, I cannot think of an example that better portrays how feckless, clueless, out-of-his-element and pathetic our president is. I am seething and words (almost) fail me.

Jake Tapper, earlier today:

(ABC, Memeorandum) President Obama is increasingly doubtful that there's a compelling reason to release a photograph of Osama bin Laden's corpse, ABC News has learned.

There don't seem to be many skeptics of bin Laden's death in the Muslim world, with bin Laden's wife having survived the attack to identify bin Laden's death both to the Navy SEALs and Pakistani authorities.

Meanwhile, sources say, Defense Secretary Robert Gates and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton are advising the president about concerns at the Pentagon and State Department that releasing a photograph could prompt a backlash against the US for killing bin Laden where one does not seem to currently exist.

-Jake Tapper

"Compelling" reasons that failed to surface -- at least in Obama's head -- include closure for 9-11 victim's families, resistance to street-thug Islamists who will carry out violence anyway...proof for the world that Osama bin Laden is in fact dead...

How many other "compelling" reasons are there?

Without photos of Osama bin Laden's body and burial at sea, why should anyone believe a lot of what we are hearing today?

Leave it to this bunch to do this to us!

Updated x2: I've been sitting on this, this photo (c/o Saberpoint but uncomfirmed by the WH) will have to do:

Updated x3: CBS News will air an interview with Obama tonight wherein he "explains" why he won't allow release of Osama's death photos:
In an interview with Steve Kroft for this Sunday's "60 Minutes," President Obama says he won't release post-mortem images of Osama bin Laden taken to prove his death.

Video of the comments will appear on the CBS "Evening News" on Wednesday.

  1. Tell me your not suprised. I expect evidence to show up that Osama died years ago from Al Qaeda or the Taliban. After all they are calling Obama on this one.

  2. It gets worse. Republicans aren't going to put any pressure on Obama to prove it to the American people.

  3. A few thoughts via Obama:

    1. Why give Americans 9/11 closure when I can keep my "enemies" distracted with conspiracy theories?

    2. Paranoid American teabaggers vs. the international Islamic community... this is a no-brainer.

    3. How can I promote the Ground Zero mosque in my speech tomorrow?
