Because Our Economy Is Improving

The number of people receiving supplemental nutrition assistance (food stamps) has risen to a new high of 44,187,831 persons in January 2011, according to the USDA. Something to think about as politicians and the LSM tout how much better things are getting by using statistics like rising GDP and falling unemployment, both of which are easily manipulated to produce positive results.

As the amount of people relying on the government steadily increases, what are the chances that they will vote for smaller government? We are more likely to see protests such as in Europe over austerity programs there or even outright revolt as we are seeing in the Middle East if funding is reduced for those facing economic hardship.

If this chart, along with higher food and fuel prices, doesn't make you worry that this country is headed for financial armageddon, nothing will.

How's that for hope and change?

  1. I'm sure that all the increases in people who are now forced to survive by begging to the government is all just Bush's fault. It's not like it could possibly be Obama's fault that more and more and more people are now relying on taxpayer-forced handouts to simply eat.

  2. The result of altruism, irrationality, and businesses sell out to the quick buck through cheap labor off ashore.

Check out Ayn Rand and true capitalism. Not the suited corporate welfare queens that occupy Wall Street and the chairs of most American CEO's slots today.
