Enter John Cusak: Another Hollywood Liberal Loon, Calls for 'Satanic Death' of Fox News, GOP Leaders

by the Left Coast Rebel

Hat tip Daniel Blatt at GayPatriot, get a load of this:

(Fox News) Actor John Cusack went on a caustic Twitter rampage Sunday evening, attacking former House Majority Leader Dick Armey, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and Fox News.

“I AM FOR A SATANIC DEATH CULT CENTER AT FOX NEWS HQ AND OUTSIDE THE OFFICES ORDICK ARMEYAND NEWT GINGRICH-and all the GOP WELFARE FREAKS,” Cusack tweeted.

Cusack has long been outspoken about politics. He supported Barack Obama in the 2008 presidential election and has contributed to The Huffington Post, but this is the first known time he has stooped to the level of making threats.

And while the U.S. Constitution protects Cusack's right to speak his mind, some critics say he should be more careful about what he says, since he has more than 200,000 Twitter followers.

“His provocative tweets could easily incite a rabid fan to commit violent acts against Fox News Headquarters and others he names," said Dr. Carole Lieberman, a Beverly Hills-based psychiatrist and author of "Coping With Terrorism: Dreams Interrupted."

"Fans could not only be influenced because of their devotion to Cusack, the man, but also because of their love for one of the characters he plays,” she told Fox411.

Cooper Lawrence, the author of “Cult of Celebrity” told Fox 411: “The fear isn't that a celebrity will influence someone to do something violent or out of character due to the sheer devotion to the celebrity, the fear is that someone who is already vulnerable, mentally disturbed, already considering something dangerous, may be encouraged to do so if it is advocated by their favorite star,”

Lawrence explained that while celebrities don't make healthy people do things they wouldn't normally do, they could impact someone who is on the fence or mentally unstable.

“John Cusack has to know that his words carry weight because he is an actor beloved by many generations of folks who may not get his humor and might think he is calling for something more sinister. The responsibility is on him to not abuse his fame to influence something negative on the off chance that even one person takes his words to heart,” Lawrence said.

Cusack could also be doing his career some damage. Image consultant Michael Sands says that Cusack should be worried that his vituperative words could turn off some of his fans.

“I think his fans will not appreciate his tone. They will be turned off to his rhetoric,” Sands told Fox411. “John Cusack is taking his fame too seriously. He is having delusions and his anger towards Fox News may get him arrested!”

Ironically, Cusack has just been signed to play Edgar Allen Poe in "The Raven", a movie about a serial killer who uses Poe's stories as inspiration for his killing spree.

Cusack’s publicist did not reply to calls and emails for comment.

Ugh, another Hollyweird celeb that I (will from now on) completely loathe......

University of Buffalo Professor James Campbell predicts 51 seat gain for Republicans

By Conservative Generation for Left Coast Rebel

Well voters already know how their voting in November, it's just that we'd like to know right this very moment what those votes will be. The pollster's are predicting a Republican landslide. What about the acedemics?

University at Buffalo professor James Campbell just created a new election model for 2010. Can you guess how many seats he's predicting the Dems lose?

Political prognosticator James E. Campbell, professor and chair of the Department of Political Science at the University at Buffalo, predicts that the Democrats can expect to lose 51 seats in the House of Representatives in the November election, producing a Republican majority.
Campbell's forecast, to be presented this week at the Annual Meeting of the American Political Science Association in Washington, D.C., is based on what he calls the "seats-in-trouble model." This forecasting equation factors in the president's approval rating and the degree to which one political party is in danger of losing seats in the election, as estimated by the non-partisan Cook Political Report.

51 to 52 seats is a tall order, but then so is a 10 point lead on the generic ballot.

His recent paper is worth a read. One interesting component to Professor Campbell's research found that in midterm elections, Presidents need a huge approval rating to retain seats; somewhere in the ball park of 65%.

Let's hope the professor's model is dead on the money with his predictions.

RINO Murkowski Out!

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_QqyrPAPvIxc/TH3C8mDnklI/AAAAAAAACXs/QwEbndSI9kE/s1600/murkowski02.png

By RightKlik

As the
MSM has duly noted, with her concession speech tonight, Lisa Murkowski (RINO-AK) became the third Senator to be booted from office this year, joining Bob Bennett (RINO-UT) and Arlen Specter (Turncoat-PA).

The MSM will tell you that this is a bad year for incumbents. If there's a kernal of truth to that assesment, it's only because a majority of D.C. incumbents stand with the Obama administration. The real lesson to take from the death of these incumbencies is that it's a bad year for politicians who are insufficiently prepared to stand in the way of the Obama-Reid-Pelosi agenda.

Lisa Murkowski was beaten by Joe Miller, a conservative Tea Party Republican who emphasized Murkowski's unwillingness to repeal ObamaCare.

Liberal Republican Bob Bennett was beaten by Mike Lee, a conservative who who ran against Bailout Bob's fiscal irresponsibility.

Arlen Specter (D) was beaten by Joe Sestak, a Democrat who has been a thorn in the Obama administration's side. Sestak, in turn, will likely be beaten by a hardcore DeMint conservative, Pat Toomey.

If this year's primaries serve as a reliable indicator of things to come, November 2 will be a bad day not for incumbents in general, but specifically for incumbents who stand too close to Obama.

Addendum I: Attention Republicans! Stand firm against ObamaCare unless you want to destroy yourself politically:

A word to the wise...

Here's what a Murkowski fan thinks about Joe Miller's successful effort to point out Murkowski's weak response to ObamaCare:

"Murkowski's response was a good one: that Joe Miller's claim was an outright lie and that she voted several times to repeal portions of Obamacare and co-sponsored other pieces of legislation to do the same."

Sorry, repealing portions of ObamaCare isn't good enough.

Addendum II: Interesting tweets on the topic...
  • @ewerickson: "The Murkowski defeat is also a near total kneecapping of Mitch McConnell, whose leadership team is Gregg, Bennett, Murkowski, and Hutchison."
  • @micellemalkin: "Ousted GOP Sen. Bob Bennett has company: AK Sen. Murkowski joins the lib Repub retiree club! http://tinyurl.com/2wmht2e"
  • @pourmecoffee: Murkowski concedes. As I understand Alaska politics, she now becomes millionaire celebrity and rules world from Facebook.
  • @sarahpalinusa Do you believe in miracles?! http://u.nu/72z2f Congratulations, @JoeWMiller! Thank you for your service, Sen. Murkowski. On to November!
  • @ewerickson: How much worse will a lame duck session be with Murkowski, Bennett, Gregg, McCain et al having nothing to lose?

Fox News: Gibbs Crumbles....Obama Flips, Obama Flops.....Gibbs Crumbles, "Let's Just be Queer/Clear"

by the Left Coast Rebel

Fox's Gretchen Carlson proves that in (a few) corners of the press, journalism is actually still alive. I almost feel sorry for this guy (mouthpiece for Dear Leader's track record that simply must vanish):

I don't know if you noticed the Gibbs-gaffe at 1:43 on the Youtube dial but I specifically and succinctly caught Gibbs quothing, "let's just be queer...../clear"

A Freudian slip? Perhaps an indication of the Obama-reluctance in the DADT realm, no?

Queer-Clear...can be whatever your imagination stirs as to being so. I find it a funny slip of the tongue and an amateur hour example of just how pathetic this White House is.

And why the hell are you guys going on the 'enemy' network, anyway?

Obama Supporter Daniel Loeb of Third Point Partners Shrugs, Atlas Style

05_WALLS

by the Left Coast Rebel

Over at Yahoo Finance I just caught a NYT article, "Why Wall Street is Deserting Obama." And although I was at Yahoo Finance to do some work, I couldn't help myself but to read the piece and point you to Daniel Loeb's actual letter as well.

The NYT article:

Daniel S. Loeb, the hedge fund manager, was one of Barack Obama’s biggest backers in the 2008 presidential campaign.

A registered Democrat, Mr. Loeb has given and raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for Democrats. Less than a year ago, he was considered to be among the Wall Street elite still close enough to the White House to be invited to a speech in Lower Manhattan, where President Obama outlined the need for a financial regulatory overhaul.

So it came as quite a surprise on Friday, when Mr. Loeb sent a letter to his investors that sounded as if he were preparing to join Glenn Beck in Washington over the weekend.

“As every student of American history knows, this country’s core founding principles included nonpunitive taxation, constitutionally guaranteed protections against persecution of the minority and an inexorable right of self-determination,” he wrote. “Washington has taken actions over the past months, like the Goldman suit that seem designed to fracture the populace by pulling capital and power from the hands of some and putting it in the hands of others.”

The NYT piece inadvertently points to the precise cause of our malaise today. It lands squarely on the shoulders of the Obamanation:
Mr. Loeb’s views, irrespective of their validity, point to a bigger problem for the economy: If business leaders have a such a distrust of government, they won’t invest in the country. And perception is becoming reality.

Nan Hayworth’s Young Voters for an Orleans Reunion Tour come up with best campaign video so far this year

By Conservative Generation for Left Coast Rebel
H/T to Upstate Political Report

This has been the election season for great conservative campaign videos. Dale Peterson pulled no punches as he strut in a video armed with a Winchester, Fiorina’s Demon Sheep, and even a weird, off-beat ad from Republican Mattie Fein; a spin on Young Frankenstein.

However, I think Nan Hayworth’s Young Voters for an Orleans Reunion Tour certainly deserves a spot in the finalist category with their recently released music video “Vote with me.”

Nan Hayworth is running to unseat John Hall for NY’s 19th congressional district. For the many of you who don’t remember the 70’s, John Hall was the front man for the band Orleans. The group hit it big with song “Still the one” and “Dance with me.” Young Voters’ video is a spoof on “Dance with me.”

Note to political candidates, snag up young conservatives and get them involved. You won’t be sorry.

Lyrics:

Vote with me
Let’s make John Hall leave Washington DC
And get him out and touring
We are calling
And John Hall’s stalling
Vote with me

The economy
John Hall supports a failed policy
And has prolonged a crisis
Wasteful spending
Is never ending
Vote with me

Let it lift you out of DC
On the road and maybe out to sea
We can take you
We want you to go
Whoawoh

Orleans
That is the band John Hall used to lead
Before he entered Congress
Start the tour
It’s waiting for you
Vote with me

The band of thieves and respect for the office?

by the Left Coast Rebel

The New York Times reports:

When President Obama addresses the nation on Iraq on Tuesday night, he will do so from newly redecorated digs. The look, which includes new and reupholstered furniture and new paint and wallpaper, is more modern and tends toward neutral hues of brown and taupe, rather than the gold and yellow tones favored by his predecessor, George W. Bush.

Gone is the sunburst rug that Mr. Bush loved so much; designed by his wife, Laura, he used to say it evoked a spirit of optimism. In its place is a more muted, mostly wheat and cream-colored carpet featuring the presidential seal in the center, and ringed on its edge with five quotations selected by Mr. Obama – four from former presidents (Lincoln, Kennedy and both Roosevelts) and one from the Rev Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Mr. Bush’s yellow brocade couches have been replaced with two custom-made sofas of brown cotton that resembles velvet. They face a boxy table, fashioned from American walnut and mica, that features a fruit bowl – not flowers – as its centerpiece. There is a lone navy blue pillow on one of the couches, which pulls in the blue from some new, modern table lamps.

The new wallpaper is striped, gold and yellow, but the pictures – portraits of Lincoln and Washington – have remained, as has the grandfather clock. Mr. Obama reupholstered Mr. Bush’s two mahogany chairs and kept the desk, called the Resolute, that every chief executive since Rutherford B. Hayes — with the exception of Johnson, Nixon and Ford — has used.

My first inclination was to the fact that taxpayer dollars were spent on this project. Amazingly, they weren't:
The makeover was not done at taxpayer expense; the White House said the costs were covered by the White House Historical Association, a nonprofit group, through a contribution from the committee that paid for Mr. Obama’s inauguration.
About those quotations on the rug:

  • “The Only Thing We Have to Fear Is Fear Itself” – President Franklin D. Roosevelt (a classic that no one can disagree with).
  • “The Arc of the Moral Universe Is Long, But It Bends Towards Justice” – Martin Luther King Jr. (again, benign).
  • “Government of the People, By the People, For the People” – President Abraham Lincoln (another classic)
  • “No Problem of Human Destiny Is Beyond Human Beings” – President John F. Kennedy (actually my favorite).
And....drumroll.....the token collectivist 'spread the wealth' quote that exemplifies all that is the Obamanation:

  • “The Welfare of Each of Us Is Dependent Fundamentally Upon the Welfare of All of Us” – President Theodore Roosevelt
So quoth a collectivist of another collectivist and omit, say, a Jefferson quote. George Will explains more on Teddy, if you need to be made aware of history that is not taught.

According to the news, the new custom carpet was donated by a rug manufacturer. It has quotes from MLK and others around the edge.
I really don't care for Obama, but in the grand scheme of things, a redecoration of this office is small banana...s' compared to trips to other countries for vacation by the first lady, or for both of them to go anywhere.
But I'm still voting 'em all out in November!
