I guess that one of way of looking at this is a sense of gratitude that the Fearless Leader isn't bowing to another Fearless Leader in a sign of American collective gnashing of teeth for our collective guilt for just being all that America stands for (or used to), spread around the world. I guess that I can breathe a sigh of relief that Obama's bow, at least this time; was directed at a domestic dignitary and not an overseas monarch or authoritarian. But perhaps he just mistook Tampa Mayor Pam Ilorio for a despotic dictator and did that which comes perfectly naturally :
And for anyone that doubts the veracity of this picture. It. Is. An. AP. Photo.
Is that Charlie Christ to the right too? Please, Florida. Please send Marco Rubio to the United States Senate.

Obama Bows Around the World and Continues the Obama Bow Tour: This Time in America, Obama Bows to Tampa Mayor
Steve Jobs Doesn't Mix Words: Google's 'Don't be Evil' Mantra is Bullshit
![]()
by the Left Coast Rebel
It is no secret that Steve Jobs is the genius (and madman) behind the Apple lexicon and product. It is no secret as well that he has weathered many a storm both product and industry related as well as health concerns as well. For being a great creator of wealth of his shareholders and the industry as well as conquering his own health concerns and demons - I respect him immensely. America needs 10,000 more Steve Jobs, we should do everything possible to foster and encourage the genius and growth of both ingenuity and human capital that Apple represents.
But I digress (not an unusual thing for me), I find it interesting to read of the story in Wired today that shows a different Steve Jobs, perhaps one that is fighting for a product and idea (the iPhone and it's company identity), and perhaps worrying just a little more about the Google Nexus' chance at taking marker share than I perhaps would have garnered the potential possibility of:
Interesting.Jobs, characteristically, did not mince words as he spoke to the assembled, according to a person who was there who could not be named because this person is not authorized by Apple to speak with the press.
On Google: We did not enter the search business, Jobs said. They entered the phone business. Make no mistake they want to kill the iPhone. We won’t let them, he says. Someone else asks something on a different topic, but there’s no getting Jobs off this rant. I want to go back to that other question first and say one more thing, he says. This don’t be evil mantra: “It’s bullshit.” Audience roars.
Organizing for America's Organizing for Obama a Lesson in Leftist Orwellian Propaganda?
by the Left Coast Rebel
Today Pamela Geller at Atlas Shrugs broke a very disturbing story about an Atlas reader's son coming into contact with a propaganda effort in the classroom, allowing students to sign up for 'Obama for America', an offshoot of the Plouffe run Organizing for America. This deviation (read deviant fascist effort) being something to continue the indoctrination of Obamanation mantra and socialists ideology in the classroom. Pamela Geller obtained 'sign up sheets' and other campus material orchestrated by Organizing for Ameria as a means to indoctrinate and 'organize' on the public school campi:
This LCR summation only touches the surface of this, go to Atlas Shrugs for the rest.
Naked Scanners Will Only Inconvenience the Public: Terrorists Planning on Adapting by Surgically Implanting Bombs

by the Left Coast Rebel
One of the most ridiculous reactions to Christmas Day's surprise (near) bombing of the so-called underwear bomber was the instant reaction and call by big government nanny-staters for 'new security measures', 'heightened public control', and myriad ridiculous controls and notions that would only hurt law abiding citize and (supposedly) cover up the massive failings of all levels of government in regards to the underwear bomber's foiled plot.
Surprise, surprise, terrorists simply plan on adapting and outsmarting the system. Setting in motion a new tactic, Daily Mail UK:
"[M]ale bombers would have the explosive secreted near their appendix or in their buttocks, while females would have the material placed inside their breasts in the same way as figure-enhancing implants. How can authorites worldwide possibly prevent an enemy that is so inisiten on killing 'the infidel' that they plan on inserting explosives into their own bodies? Do you think that Americans can defeat this kind of world wide enemy by cowering in fear and surrending our liberties here at home? What would the American Founers have done against a threat like this?
Experts said the explosive PETN (Pentaerythritol Tetranitrate) would be placed in a plastic sachet inside the bomber’s body before the wound was stitched up like a normal operation incision and allowed to heal.
A shaped charge of 8oz of PETN can penetrate five inches of armour and would easily blow a large hole in an airliner. Security sources said the explosives would be detonated by the bomber using a hypodermic syringe to inject TATP (Triacetone Triperoxide) through their skin into the explosives sachet."

Roger Ailes Defends Glenn Beck
by the Left Coast Rebel
Roger Ailes, President of the Fox News Channel has come out swinging lately, I saw several media appearance mentioned while perusing my usual sources. The one thought that caught my eye was Roger Ailes' appearance on ABC's This Week flanked by none other than Paul Krugman (sheesh), George Will and Ariana Huffington. Arianna Huffington tried to corner Ailes on Glenn Beck's 'inciting' of the American people and her typcial drib-drab of thought police, anti free-speech reactionary nonsense, Ailes responded in a classic, blue-blooded, Red White and Blue American freedom-loving way, (in other words, if you don't like it just turn the damned station + he turns the charge right back at her):
Judging by this thread at Memeorandum, the leftwing's incendiary hatred (and near violence) focused on Ailes and Fox News comes as no surprise.

Nancy Pelosi Travelgate/Bar Tab Gate: Family Enjoy Military Chauffers, Escorts, Babysitters, Plus Free Flights on Military Planes
![[I'd+Rather+Have+A+Bottle+In+Front+Of+Me+.jpg]](http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_0O2CPGcOPk0/S2UT9z0QhWI/AAAAAAAAFZc/0JAWpsxXV5Q/s1600/I%27d%2BRather%2BHave%2BA%2BBottle%2BIn%2BFront%2BOf%2BMe%2B.jpg)
by the Left Coast Rebel
I'd Rather Have a Bottle in Front of me Than a Frontal Lobotomy. Wow, Brilliant. Nancy Pelosi, speaker of the United State House of Representatives didn't invent corruption, elitism, malfeasance, (non)transparency, statism, backroom deals, oligarchy type behaviour and worse in American politics. She simply just represents a toxic mish-mash of all of it thrown into a viral and potent mix of botox and Obama man-crush (anyone that doubts the latter needs to watch the State Of Obama's Union speech again to see what I am talking about).
Today's Pelosi treat turns us to thousands of pages of documents released via the Freedom of Information Act to Judicial Watch (damn that transparency) and it's not a pretty sight. Sniped docs from Doug Ross' site show that Nancy Pelosi and her family have been wining and dining on the US taxpayer dime, military chauffeurs, escorts and baby sitters for family members, as well as free flights for members of the Pelosi family, all paid for by the United States military, even without her being present. Wow.
In fact, I am scanning all of the docs that Doug Ross has of this and don't even know which ones to share with you. I see the recurring theme that Pelosi and co. cost the taxpayer up to $18 grand per hour to be jetted around. I see family and friends being jetted around as well and you and I paying for it. I see myriad food and drink lists. Booze and lots of it. Nefarious bedfellows travelling with her. This is simply insane and (probably legal). That certainly doesn't make it ethical and in this economy when Americans are suffering - disgusting. Go to Doug Ross' site to get the whole scoop on this.
Roundup:
Jim Hoft calls Pelosi's jet Pelosi One.
No Sheeples Here would rather have a stiff one, even on the rocks than ponder this. I thank her for the genius of the headline graphic as well.
Weasel Zippers thinks that the US military has more urgent things to mind to than a Queen's needs.
The Lonely Conservative thinks that Pelosi's hubris is only surpassed by her penchant for Uncle Sam's tab. The ghost of Ted Kennedy?

Hitler Confronts Climategate/Glaciergate: Hitler's Last Straw
by the Left Coast Rebel
You just know that the tide is changing, that the pendulum is swinging back to a reasonable center when you see mainstream parody of liberal orthodoxy. The following Hitler parody proves another instance of just that.
First there was Hitler denouncing Scott Brown's victory, Hitler reviewing the iPad, the list goes on and on. This one may be the funniest - Hitler assuming the role of global warming alarmist/propagandist. I just love the subtitled:
My Fuher, um.....Skeptics.....Skeptics have traced the lie too far back. Bird Brain will soon be a household name.
(The Fuher) This calls for a special meeting. Everyone who doesn't drive a Prius leave the room now. This is what happens when we only dominate 90% of the media, we have to work harder to promote our lies! Now we have to do damage control to protect Bird Brain Enterprises in addition to Gore's Group.

Star Wars Vs. Star Trek
by the Left Coast Rebel

"Cane Toads: The Conquest" - A 3D, Australian, Toad-Lick-Flick Easily Surpassing the Absurdity of "Avatar"

by the Left Coast Rebel
Leave it to the nuts and fruits at Sundance to come up with an idea for a movie that even far surpasses the ridiculous notions of the Smurfs with bows and arrow/Enviro Nazi American Marine/Anti-Capitalist 3 hour waterboard torture fest known as "Avatar". AP/BreitBart:
Toxic cane toads have taken the Sundance Film Festival by storm in an irreverent new 3D documentary exploring the warty amphibians' invasion of Australia.A toad licking treatise centering on the racial aspects of the much aligned and abused Bufo Marinus toad. Would you see this flick? I'll make you a wager, can you meet me on this. Find me one of these poor little Bufo Marninus toads and I will lick, lick, lick away. Then, and only then (because of the hallucinogenic effect), will I go and see Avatar, along with "Cane Toads: The Conquest". Then I can check in here at LCR and give you a detailed review!Director Mark Lewis hopes his film -- "Cane Toads: The Conquest" -- will encourage the public to take a different view of the creatures, which are reviled as a pest and a threat to indigenous species in Australia.
It is the second time the Austalian film-maker has investigated the toads, which were introduced to the country in 1935 in a misguided attempt to control beetles ravaging sugar cane fields in the tropical northeast.
"In a way, it's my 'Ava-toads,'" he joked, referring to James Cameron's record-breaking science-fiction film "Avatar.""And what's interesting about the toad is that everybody has his own unique attitude or perspective on it," Lewis said. "It brings bigotry, cruelty, racism, sympathy, love... a lot of things."Lewis's film spotlights defenders and opponents of cane toads, including one woman who talks about sending toads on a "trip to Alaska" by killing them in a freezer -- said to be the only humane method of killing the animals.
Others include humans who hunt the toads in order to lick their skin for an LSD-style hallucinoginec trip.
A couple more thoughts as well here. Can anyone tell me just how someone figured out that one could lick a toad to get high? Was a guy just walking through the woods one day and like, hey, I think I'll lick that warty little toad there and see what happens?
Bigger Than the CRU Hacked Email Controversy? Climate Chief Knew Melting Glacier Claim was False Before Copenhagen
by the Left Coast Rebel
Leave it to UK's Times Online to uncover yet another barn burner regarding the worldwide malfeasance behind global warming science/politics/research.This round revolves around this. Several months before the Copenhagen Summit took place, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) alerted Chairman Rajendra Pachauri to report(s) indicating that the Himalayan glaciers (presented as evidence of global warming) are not melting. I'm sure that you have heard much about these Himalayan glaciers - they have been a central point of much of the global warming alarmist mantra. I recall reading a Time Magazine weeping, bleating, heart-bleeding article about the glaciers melting soon, you know the routine.
So even the IPCC refuted and called out the falsehood of the Himalayan glaciers melting soon. The had to because several renowned glaciologists refuted it. This is known, malfeasance not being part of the picture. What does certainly hint to criminal behaviour is that IPCC chair Rajendra Pachauri was aware of the IPCC report but sat on it for 2 months. 2 months before the Copenhagen Climate Summit talks. And it wasn't until after the Copenhagen summit that Pachauri acknowledged the glacier report and admired the several hundred thousand dollars that would have been put at risk if the glacier report had been released before the Copenhagen Summit. Also, he is denying culpability in the entire affair which shouldn't come as a shock to anyone. Global warming activists - are you proud of the IPCC hierarchy?

A Conversation Between Smitty of the Other McCain and the Left Coast Rebel
by the Left Coast Rebel
When the Ellie Light issue hit last week I was confronted with a serious dilemma. Winston44 had contacted me and claimed that she was actually Ellie Light. As it panned out, this Winston 44 character actually did turn out to be the real Ellie Light and the story is finito, as they say. The dilemma mentioned though was this. Patterico contacted me and needed the IP address of the Winston44 persona - to my technical chagrin (and utter inability) I turned to Smitty at The Other McCain and he gave me some very good techie advice. He's a techie kinda guy. Wired like that, I'm not, that's life - right?
Anyhow last Sunday night I saw that Smitty was on the Google IM so I jumped on really quick to give him a 'thank you' for the help and all. I mentioned the Ellie Light story and from there we struck up a conversation. Anyone want to hear it? Ok, can do. Before that I must say that you need to visit and patronise (in a good way) the slick, clean new Other McCain worpress site. Tell 'em I sent yah, ok?
What I'm going to do here for you this weekend is simply post our conversation, straight from the heart and mind of two thinkers and concerned Americans. It's rough and unpolished but consider it a conversation of the top things on our minds, unrehearsed, a pub chatter, if you will. I emphasized where I thought it needed to be.
smitty: Look at you go! (the Ellie Light affair)
LCR: Heh, I'm hating that I will come down from this eventually.
smitty: Something equally stupid will occur, then you pounce.
LCR: yah, the problem for us is not access to stupidity from the Obamanation, that's for sure.
smitty: I keep wanting to hope that the administration sobers up, but the Socialism is some serious dope.
LCR: I know Chris, the thing is that if they don't sober up, the electoral fallout will be unprecedented - I just hope we can survive up to that point.
smitty: So they put on a show of sobering up, to blunt the impact.
LCR: yes, but it's not going to work with the American people (praying).
smitty: I think the Internet is the reason it won't work. Also $12+T debt.
LCR: Yes Chris, the latter first, thousands of citizen activists second, I mean look at this crazy Ellie Light thing, the comment at LCR from the troll (connected to the whole thing) is one of the things that set this in motion - I'm a teeny fish in the sea and making an impact.
smitty: Oh, I feel the same way. That's the point, though: we've all roughly equivalent weight. Technology is the equalizer. There was Sarah Palin, writing a book. Lynn Vincent had also written one with Stacy McCain. I'm his co-blogger. Suddenly I'm on the edge of people who will likely make history books.
LCR: Totally, and I bet you never would have thought that you would be here, right now doing this and helping stop this thing (socialism), you and RSM are playing a key role right now (just in case you didn't know) I bet you guys are tired sometimes though - I sure am, the b*tch slap of Tuesday couldn't have come at a better time.
smitty: We're going to be all full of vigor after CPAC, though. My fear is that, as with the Bernanke flap, people mistake a change of nameplate for substantive action. The near-total lack of analysis of systemic flaws is what makes me tired. But I sat on my thumbs for too long, and so my penance is to be something of an activist.
LCR: I know what you mean Chris, you could see that a little with Scott Brown 'hinting' at universal health care, I hope that the tea party movement doesn't just seat another round of big govt Bush types - the same end result as Obama, just decades down the road.
smitty: Even though the ObamaCare people are wrong, it is still necessary to educate them on why, and offer something reasonable as an alternative. There is some merit to the argument that 'just say no' is too simple. But, in the context of the nonsense that has been perpetrated the last century, you can see where the Left figured that now was the time to go all-in for this socialist transformation.
LCR: I agree and in that moment, all the opposition can cry out is 'no' because many (most) have lost the philosophical underpinnings of just why socialism is evil and destructive, especially in the unique constraints of how our country was founded. Decades of brain washing in public schools, force fed media/govt complex propaganda and a general moral slide in America have led up to this as well. But you see an awakening all around us, perhaps it is like the aftermath of 9-11, Americans are ready to stand up and fight for Her. (her being the country and freedom).
LCR: Business friends of mine think that the Obama/Pelosi/Reid pack of thieves has a lot to do with the malaise now too (duh).smitty: Yeah, but that's symptomatic. Progressivism is the disease, the debt is the tumor. I don't care what your governor says.
LCR: Indeed, the debt is the tumor of the cancer of a failed ideology that has been disproved the entire previous century.smitty: What I fear is that the oligarchs, sensing the jig is up, pull the plug, and then we see no-kidding breadlines.
LCR: I know, Chris the Cloward/Piven deal is something of a possibility - the masses don't realize it but it is a distinct possibility, it's almost something that we can't focus on right now, we have to focus on defeating and killing once and for all the cancer amongst us.
smitty: Yes, but the transition plan is also crucial. As a squid, I think of our ship of state as off course and in shoal water. Brining her about and setting the proper course is complex. That cancer may not be as readily operable as we like. We manage things through people that are elected, but the systemic problems require thought. You (and Stacy McCain) are quite correct to emphasize the tactics. My task is to ensure we don't blow off the strategy.
LCR: I can see that, can the strategy work by bringing to light the 'antiquated' concepts that our nation was founded upon? How can it be offered to Americans (because they still do believe it, even if they don't know it).
smitty: Consider Exodus: Moses had to stand by and liquidate two generations to un-slave the Israelites. I fear our situation may have overlap.
LCR: I surely hope not but I do cede the possibility of that - if some of the oligarchy ruling us are as nefarious as they seem to be, it could even be 'plan B'.
smitty: My argument is that this is really a test of the American attention span. All solutions will take time/will, neither of which we seem to invest with any facility.
LCR: I see, how do we get around that? As you say the 12 tril. debt is not something that will go away in the middle of the night, how do we animate the American people to see the resurrection through? How do we incite their passion for the long haul?
smitty: I think you attack the systemic problems which put us here: Amendments 16/17, the Federal Reserve Act. I think you engage in a big cram down, where you divide the debt 50 ways under whatever Congressional formula suits, and simply bill the States, and let them figure it out. Allowing the debt ceiling to raise indicates a non-grasp of the seriousness of the problem.
LCR: Raising the debt ceiling as a solution for mounting, enslaving debt levels indicates a nefarious level of non-grasping of the problem, a complete and utter lack of will to project any solution for the ill. Now the cramdown of debt onto the states is something that I am wholly unfamiliar with, the dismantling of the Fed and the Federal Reserve Act in particular would be (one) of the nails in the coffin of progressivism, you can thank lone Rep Ron Paul (the kook as he is called by GOP beltway types) for any smidgen of the possibility of this.
And there we we had to call it an end. But surely it was an interesting conversation and I am very proud to have made the acquaintance of patriots like Chris (Smitty) from the Other McCain. Smitty and RSM represent the best in conservative blogging and activism. Make sure that you make their site a daily visit. Think about what we said here too. What are your thoughts?1.29.2010
Apollo 11 Made World History, Obama to End the NASA Constellation Program
by the Left Coast Rebel
July 20, 1969 Apollo 11 made world history. Edwin Eugene 'Buzz' Aldrin and Neil Alden Armstrong became the first humans to land on the moon, setting history in motion and creating an American accomplishment that is still unrivaled to this day.
I won't bore you with the details of the mission or the historical accounts. One could write volumes on the topic. What I will point you to though is just the feat that this point in history represented. Of science and the triumph of man's mind. Of reason and the unique American experiment. Apollo 11 should be remembered for just that. I can only imagine the pride that the astronauts felt with their accomplishment. The entire nation was surely as proud as the President at the time, fulfilling the dream of JFK and phoning directly from the White House:
From the historical perspective here comes a jarring current day revelation:
On the eve of the fullest moon of the year, NASA scientists were told they won't be able to visit any longer. In his new budget, President Obama plans to eliminate the space program's manned moon missions.Jarring, right. No friend of Federal programs, my glee is more than subdued. Surely, I think to myself, there must be a reasonable explanation to shutter the NASA Constellation program. Surely I am missing the context of something bigger here, perhaps the up and coming Mars mission?
When the president releases his budget on Monday, a White House official confirmed on Thursday, there will be a big hole where funding for NASA's Constellation program used to be. Constellation is the umbrella program that includes the Ares rocket -- the replacement for the aging space shuttles.
Nope:
In the meantime, the White House will direct NASA to concentrate on Earth-science projects -- principally, researching and monitoring climate change --God help us, we are ruled by fools. A reader tipped me on this story and frankly I was skeptical. He noted in an email that, JFK was rolling over in his grave and I would have to agree. For what it is worth as well, as noted by Dan Riehl at Riehl World View NASA's budget in real dollars will continue to go up, not down and this is merely a way for the Obama Administration to find another excuse for 'climate change research' and such. Sheesh. Madness.
I Have a Confession: I Believe in Income Redistribution, Global Warming and the Presidency of the Obamanation
by the Left Coast Rebel
It dawned on me this evening and I hate to admit it. Perhaps it was the brain freeze from the succulent, creamy, delicious(not to mention moist) smoothie that I was enjoying, perhaps someone spiked my smoothie with something that made it even more succulent, moist on my lips, creamy and delicious.(who knows, a lot of hippies work at the smoothie shop, some working during their stay-cation), either way it culminated in a central, brilliant, pondering of a thought. And the thought is this. If I am fortunate to enjoy such things in my bourgeoisie opulence then someone must have suffered. I cannot just sit here (or at Starbucks) and enjoy a creamy treat, take my monthly stay-cations with pride and think that I am a good citizen of the United States (heh, I mean citizen of the world, who am I kidding?). I came to a realization and a pact. A promise. I insist, this is not a stay-cation from reality, I am being honest:
I swear by my life, and my love of it, that I will never live for the sake of myself, I will never keep my income for myself, I will pledge all to Gaia our Mother and defend her at all costs and I pledge allegiance to the Obamanation. I will ask for every other man to live for mine.
And as a token of my new oath, I swear to eat moist, succulent corndogs in lieu of the delicacies that I have become unfairly accustomed to.
Then it will be heard across the nation, about the Left Coast Rebel, without a semblance of doubt, that they:

Obama is the Farce that Keeps on Giving: "I am not an Ideologue" Claim at the House Republican Conference in Baltimore, Maryland
by the Left Coast Rebel
Call it the My State of the Union, Part II if you will because today's address to the House Republican conference in Ohio was (another) one of the most disturbing examples of just how disjointed, disconnected and disconcerting this man is. I heard snippets of what he said and segments and portions of it. I heard a weak man playing the victim card. Was the race card somewhere in there as well? I heard a (pseudo) tyrannical tone and finger pointing at the GOP for the failed Obamanation agenda. Did he not get the memo that he has resided over a super majority his first year? Did he not get the memo that he didn't/doesn't need the GOP for anything as their numbers do not add up to stop him? I can't imagine that the American people are going to fall for the 'I'm a victim and only nuts think I'm part of a Bolshevik plot' new and (un)improved Obama. Above all, I heard a snivelling manchild claim that 'he is not an ideologue':
The arrogance is mind boggling. I am so tired of this man, I really am. Frankly I have reached the point that I don't even want to talk about it but I must.Obama's tone today just proves and cements the tone of the State of My (bow down to me) Union.
How in God's name is this man the President of the United States? The anger. A 'centrist' health care bill. Hahahaha!
Why so serious, Obama?

Nancy Pelosi's Bar Tab Proves That Absolute Power Corrupts, (Intoxicates)

by the Left Coast Rebel
Nancy (Nasty) Pelosi is a Horrible Woman. Yes she is, simply one of the worst of a lot of bad characters in Washington that stretches a mile long. The picture above is the only one that I could find of her with her mouth shut too, by the way. For every time that she does open it, I hear another precious freedom (or a trillion dollars) get whisked away. At a time when Americans are suffering Nancy Pelosi jetted over to Copenhagen with 3 military jets last month spending (millions?) at taxpayer's expense to prove what an elitist, smug, aristocrat she is.
The most ridiculous thing about aristocrats like Nasty Pelosi, Harry Reid, Schumer, Obama, Clinton(s), Frank....fill in the rest here, is that these 'royalty' preach to masses from atop the perch of the altruist socialist-progressive. They are for the little guy. They feel your pain. They will stick it to the man. And you know what? It is just a simple way to take away our freedoms and liberties, bring all income levels down to a lower level and increase the entire nation's misery. Except for them.
Today's leadership is probably one (if not the) worst in American history. They are power drunk and Nancy Pelosi is one of the drunkest of the drunks, literally:
Maker's Mark whiskey,
Courvoisier cognac,
Johnny Walker Red scotch,
Grey Goose vodka,
J&J brandy,
Bailey's Irish Crème,
Bacardi Light rum,
Jim Beam whiskey,
Beefeater gin,
Dewars scotch,
Bombay Sapphire gin,
Jack Daniels whiskey … and Corona beer.
Nancy Pelosi's bar tab, paid for by the United States taxpayer, all above. 2 year cost to the taxpayer for drinks catered to her by you and I while gallivanting all over the nation (and world)?
--$101,000.00
Cost of the Air Force Fleet that she uses to whisk between DC and San Francisco over the last 2 years?
--$2,000,000.00
Why not, if we let them do this to us?
UPDATED: Thomas Paine did some heavy lifting and the legwork involved digging up history on 'Queen' Pelosi including her lack of business experience whatsoever. James O'Keefe Issues a Statement
by the Left Coast Rebel
And it ends with a fizzle. James O'Keefe just released a statement (I assume from his parents home) today at BigGovernment.com regarding the entire Mary Landrieu 'wiretap' affair and his arrest. Surprisingly it's not a barnstorm and he wasn't wiretapping Senator Mary Landrieu's office. He was 'checking' the phone lines to discover why calls to the Senator's office from constituents were not making it through. Was it worth it then for O'Keefe to break the law and face jail time? Surely not. For gaining admission to a federal building under false pretenses (which is what he will be charged with, not wiretapping) is a crime. Are there any attorneys in the audience that have a sense of where this might end up when it goes to court?
Frankly my gut told me that this case would culminate into something much bigger than this admission has resulted in. What this story and this case did result in is shedding light on the laziness, corruption and guilty until proven innocent dog pile press spectacle that this story elicited. Nearly every press outlet blazed the headline 'wiretap' with this story which is simply not true. One is not in good hands when it comes to this nation's press. The live and breathe by the same concept of law that the IRS does. Full disclaimer: even I made the mistake as well (but not on ideological grounds).
UPDATED: Reader Red checks in on my mea culpa here re: the O'Keefe wiretap/phonebug:
I disagree with the assertion of your culpability in this instance. You passed along what you read to be true via a number of news sites. Left Coast Rebel and many other bloggers (including myself) were not the genesis of the reports of Jame's troubles with the law. Thanks Red, I think you are correct. Readers, go to Caught Him With a Corndog too see her take on the O'Keefe story.
To the contrary, it was the more established media whose actual job is to report the facts that sports egg on their collective faces. The blogger network isn't necessarily in the position of reporting 'the news' more than we are situated in weighing in on the news that gets reported. While your mea culpa is noble it isn't necessary.
T.M.I. : Argentinian President Recommends Pork over Viagra

by the Left Coast Rebel
Pork is better than Viagra. President Cristina Fernandez of Argentina isn't referring to the pork of the Nancy Pelosi/Reid/Obama variety either. Barbecued pork. And lots of it. Flanked by approving scientists at a press conference (not really), Cristina Fernandez recalled a 'satisfying' weekend with her husband and, as I said above, copious amounts of barbecued pork. Don't cry for me, Argentina's piggies.
Upon further investigation, however, I found that the Argentinian people are the biggest (per capita) consumers of beef and the Argentinian government has been trying to coax the folks into eating more pork. There's always an ulterior motive and a quid pro quo. Excuse me but using sex to promote pork is, well - strange.
You could call it a 'Stimulus plan' for pork. And Argentina can take that quite literally. A Viagra spokesman was not available for comment. Oink, oink.

Osama Bin Laden, a Member of the Environmentalist, Global Warming Hysteria, Greenie Movement?

by the Left Coast Rebel
Osama bin Laden has several things in common with the American left now - he suffers from Bush derangement syndrome and has jumped on the global warming hysteria bandwagon. Both, at the same time, in no particular order. Aljazeera obtained an audiotape of Osama Bin Laden chastising the United States and George Bush for rejecting the Kyoto Protocol and the evils of US multinational corporations. He fails to realize, however, that former President Bill Clinton and a Democratic Congress rejected the Kyoto treaty as well. He calls on the world to take the urgent action necessary to stop the impending threat of global warming and even cites far-left US academic and political commentator Noam Chomsky.
Sound familiar? Well, it should because the essence of what he said comes right out of the Democratic-left playbook.
To top things off, Osama Bin Laden parroted Chomsky by calling US policies those 'of the mafia' and that (American corporations) 'are the true terrorists and the world should refrain from using the US dollar and get rid of it as soon as possible'. On this note perhaps, he sounds quite a bit like George Soros.
And there you have it. You may judge a man (or philosophy/belief system) by the company he keeps. From a cave somewhere in the middle of who-knows-where, Osama bin Laden, terrorist mastermind, and now officially a member of the vast left wing conspiracy. For what it's worth, the tape of Osama bin Laden gone-green has not been authenticated.
Who would have thought?

Obama's Scolding of the Supreme Court in the State of the Union Address Does Have a Precedent: The Andrew Jackson Myth Dispelled

by the Left Coast Rebel
The remarks made by President Obama to the Supreme Court yesterday were a breach of decorum and even a blow to the separation of powers. As we all know, the Court came down on the side of the 1st Amendment last week in Citizens United vs FEC. By Constitutional design the Supreme Court is the nonpolitical branch of government and is co-equal to the Presidency. They hand down decisions, debate and consider issues inherent in cases without the prism and triangulation of politics. These things are known. However, the question of the hour in the context of last night's State of the Union is this. Has a sitting President ever attacked a recent decision handed down by the highest court of the land during a State of the Union speech?
The answer may surprise you. The first reference that I could come up with goes all the way back to the 1831. President Andrew Jackson was handed a blow when the Supreme Court ruled on Worcester vs Georgia. Andrew Jackson is said to have remarked, "Mr. Chief Justice Marshall has made his decision. Now let him enforce it." As I could not find the precise month in 1831 that Worcester vs Georgia was handed down, I searched the text, "Mr. Chief Justice Marshall...." in both the 1831 and 1832 State of the Union addresses. The text is not found in either speeches. As I sourced this more, I found that not only was this quote not in a State of the Union Address by President Andrew Jackson, it is not accurate. What Jackson actually said was, "the decision of the supreme court has fell still born, and they find that they cannot coerce Georgia to yield to its mandate." This results in a dead end for historical relevancy to Obama's statement against the Supreme Court.
But I do have the answer and the correct result. Fast forward in American history 100 years, the Presidency of Franklin Delano Roosevelt and the 1937 State of the Union Address. In this State of the Union Address, FDR chastises the Supreme Court for outlawing the N.R.A., the National Recovery Act. In the State of the Union Address in 1937 FDR complains that "the N.R.A objectives were sound and that the statue of N.R.A has been outlawed, but the problems have not." And while certainly a statement of objection to the Supreme Court's decision, the tone of FDR seems to be conciliatory (and as a reader notes, a tone that hid the fact that FDR was soon to press for 'packing the court'). Also, the question remains as to whether the Supreme Court was seated in the House Chamber that day in 1937 as 6 of the 9 Justices were last night. Another question is truly just how hostile FDR's tone towards the court was that day. Regardless, I think that this is the correct historical equivalent to Barack Obama's statement last night.
Somehow that does not make me feel any more at ease.

Ipad Review from a Reviewer that you Would Least Expect to be Reviewing the New iPad
by the Left Coast Rebel
****Language Alert****
Straight off the heels of weighing in on the Scott Brown victory last week we have everyone's favorite dictator to hate laying it all out in a tell-tale Apple iPad review (he's none-too happy).
He's none-too happy that the iPad does not support multitasking,
He's less than flippant that the iPad can only run one application at a time,
And just what is it that really sticks in this champ's craw? You'll have to watch to see:
Sign the Petition to Repeal the 1st Amendment: Mark Dice Shows How Close We are to Losing Our Freedom
by the Left Coast Rebel
Will Americans give up every single freedom that we have (or used to) under politically expedient/correct guises? Will Americans one day surrender liberty for security? Will Americans even jettison the 1st Amendment to the Constitution if the argument to do so is sold to them in a certain way? I'm not familiar with Mark Dice but this is certainly telling:

Leaked Internal DSCC Democrat Memo Proves that you are an 'Extremist'
by the Left Coast Rebel
Bungalow Bill brought this to my attention, an internal memo from the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee on talking points for Democratic candidates and general assessment as well. Bungalow Bill calls it an attack on the 1oth Amendment and states' rights. I agree. I would add that the memo is incredibly Orwellian. It is no wonder that the Democratic Senatorial Campaign doesn't want the public to see something like this as stated at the end of the memo: *For Internal Use Only. Not for attribution or distribution without permission of DSCC*
Here are a few questions that the cronies at the DSCC think Dems should 'stick to' GOP 'far-right' congressional candidates. The DSCC puts this series of questions flatly in the 'extremist' column with the intention of showing the 'extremist' ideological streak of GOP candidates, I answer as well:
Extremism:
Do you believe that Barack Obama is a U.S. citizen? Yes and the issue is a non-issue.
Do you think the Tenth Amendment bars Congress from issuing regulations like minimum healthcare coverage standards? Yes, that makes me an extremist? If so then I am an extremist.
Do you think programs like Social Security and Medicare represent socialism, and should never have been created in the first place? Yes. Yes. Yes. I also believe that we have an obligation to seniors to see these programs through. I believe that I should have the freedom of choice to 'opt out'. Aren't you pro-choice?
Do you think President Obama is a socialist? I believe that Obama believes in central planning over the individual, if that means 'socialism' then Yes.
Do you think America should return to a gold standard? Yes. The gold standard would disallow our politicians and the Fed from manipulating our currency. Don't you argue for transparency?
Bungalow Bill also points out that this memo attacks the 10th Amendment to the Constitution. This memo proves that the Democratic party looks upon traditional Americans with disdain. This memo, meant to be kept private, proves that the Democratic party believes that those holding basic Constitutional concepts of governance are to be labelled as 'extremists'. Recall that the term 'extremist' is only put into use when another target is discussed - terrorists.
For they dare not call terrorists 'terrorists' and instead opt for 'extremist'. You heard it recently with the Fort Hood 'extremist' shooting, likewise with the panty bomber.
So as a simple, logical conclusion, you Mr. and Mrs. conservative/libertarian Constitution are (almost) no different than a terrorist.
It is under this prism of thought that progressive thought lies. Do you not see why our President and leadership are so deranged?

State of the Union Fallout: Obama Puts Harry Reid and Janet Napolitano to Sleep
by the Left Coast Rebel
Memo to beltway insiders - don't fall asleep at Barack Obama's next State of the Union speech. Please try contain your (lack) of enthusiasm, please listen up. For America was certainly listening astutely last night for (even a hint) in the State of the Union last night that could have provided a tipping point of escape from the freedom-robbing Democrats (nice term Bungalow Bill).
Wake up Harry Reid and Janet Napolitano, or were you falling asleep because you didn't believe a damn word last night?:
What is worst? A progressive statist that pounds the table on this agenda (Obamanation last night), or one that is so arrogant with the ease at which they confront dismantling the country via. that agenda?

Fallout from the State of the Union
by the Left Coast Rebel
For the best roundup of conservative blogosphere reaction to the SOTU last night go to Reaganite. I still think the same way that I did in the heat of the moment, and emotion last night. Obama's State of the Union was an out and out disaster. I see that the unprecedented attack on the Supreme Court is a huge topic of discussion today and I also see that many are trying to pin the tail on the Alito donkey. To listen to the NYT, 'the target of SCOTUS was irresistible'. In other words, they are attempting to distract the public with his 'not true' head shake and divert attention from Dear Leader's saber rattling. Obama (and the Democrat party) come away from a moment in history when they could have been conciliatory and called for things that draw Americans together but instead come away with a new an improved enemy list (the SOTU being the recent add).
Essentially, since I have a little time right now to think about it, last night's speech/attack by Obama was an attack on the American people. Because it is the American people that have rejected his agenda, his party and his plan. Massachusetts proved that. And for lack of a better way of saying it - like a spoiled child, he doesn't like it.

Obama Vs the Supreme Court in the State of the Union Speech: Judge Alito's 'You Lie' Moment Will Turn Obama's Demagoguery Against Him

by the Left Coast Rebel
Do Chicago thug tactics and approach work in the House Chamber during a State of the Union speech? Do we have a historical precedent to even compare Obama's behaviour too - to call out the Supreme Court of the United States regarding a recently handed down decision that 'you don't like'? Do we not see that this man, if capable of doing just that, will never 'reach for the center' of American politics and must be defeated hook line and sinker? Like I said in a previous post, has a United States President ever stepped over the boundaries of decorum and traditional governance like this in American history? I don't think so and if you know of an instance, I'd sure like to know.
Tell me when a President scolded the Supreme Court like this:
Last week, the Supreme Court reversed a century of law to open the floodgates for special interests — including foreign corporations — to spend without limit in our elections. Well, I don't think American elections should be bankrolled by America's most powerful interests, or worse, by foreign entities. They should be decided by the American people, and that's why I'm urging Democrats and Republicans to pass a bill that helps to right this wrong.Glenn Reynolds at Instapundit answers the question on the historical aspect of this:
And from Prof. Randy Barnett:
In the history of the State of the Union has any President ever called out the Supreme Court by name, and egged on the Congress to jeer a Supreme Court decision, while the Justices were seated politely before him surrounded by hundreds [of] Congressmen? To call upon the Congress to countermand (somehow) by statute a constitutional decision, indeed a decision applying the First Amendment? What can this possibly accomplish besides alienating Justice Kennedy who wrote the opinion being attacked. Contrary to what we heard during the last administration, the Court may certainly be the object of presidential criticism without posing any threat to its independence. But this was a truly shocking lack of decorum and disrespect towards the Supreme Court for which an apology is in order. A new tone indeed.
Justice Alito Mouths "Not True" and Proves What a Disaster Obama is
by the Left Coast Rebel
As a blogger I am completely independent and unaffiliated. I answer to no one and offer only my opinion, even if it is just a hunch, a suspicion or otherwise. If I see or feel something that my gut and mind scream to me I am free to run with it. The Ellie Light case was and example of that.
And you know what? Tonight's scolding of the Supreme Court and clear usurpation of the integrity of separation of power in this country is just one of those things too. It's bigger than the entire charade of a 'State of (I want my socialist) Union' by the Obamanation. It speaks to the highest order of malfeasance and monarchical evil. You have to trust your gut, right? Others noticed (a few among us, including Right Guy and Will, LCR readers), among them being NRO Online:
Tonight the president engaged in demagoguery of the worst kind, when he claimed that last week's Supreme Court decision in Citizens United v. FEC, "open[ed] the floodgates for special interests — including foreign corporations — to spend without limit in our elections. Well I don't think American elections should be bankrolled by America's most powerful interests, or worse, by foreign entities."
The president's statement is false.
Obama Scolds the Supreme Court for McCain Feingold in the State of the Union

by the Left Coast Rebel
Tonight's Obama State of the Union was a tough deal for me. It was difficult to sit through the entire ordeal because frankly what I heard was yet another campaign slogan fest from last year. But above the fray and rancor something big happened. Something unusual and telling, something that I have never seen in all of my years of politicking from the sidelines. Something unsettling and foreboding. A sitting President chastised, finger-waved and called out the Supreme Court of the United States. Yes - I repeat. Barack Obama, President of the United States stared down and scolded the Supreme Court of the United States. He gazed down at the Justices in regard to the recent ruling against key provisions of the McCain/Feingold campaign finance law. Unprecedented, this man. The pundits were too stupid to even see and realize this.
When I saw this horrendous spectacle of a man breaching the constraints of the separation of powers I stopped the recording to rewind and watch the crime several times. It was clear to me that one of the Justices (far left of the screen), mouthed 'that's not true' to the Obamanation central-planner finger-wag. I believe that the Justice was Samuel Alito, appointed to the court by George W. Bush (one of the few good things that he did).
For the life of me, I told my wife, I had never seen anything like that before. As the Justices solemnly and stoically sat by as the Manchurian Manchild offered a punishing tone, Chuck Schumer (D-NY) grinned in the background. My fears and my darkest concerns of Barack Hussein Obama may be more justly deserved than even I previously thought. For a man who calls himself President to do this perhaps tops all that I have seen him do so far.
