I Have a Bridge to Sell you if you Think that was Salvia in Miley Cyrus's Bong

by the Left Coast Rebel

I was just over at the Drudge Report and happened to catch a link for some sort of Miley Cyrus revelation...she was caught on video smoking from a bong during her 18th birthday bash and someone sold the video (they are saying it was stolen) to gossip site TMZ.

If you watch the video here, I have just one question to ask - does anyone think that she really wasn't smoking pot? I mean, come on, really?

They're claiming that she was smoking an herb called salvia which is billed as a hallucinogen, yet strangely, not illegal.

Just what is salvia? This from TMZ:

According to the DEA -- salvia is a Mexican herb that can be smoked to "evoke hallucinogenic effects."

In fact, the DEA states, "Psychic effects include perceptions of bright lights, vivid colors and shapes, as well as body movements and body or object distortions."

But that's not all -- the DEA adds ... other effects include uncontrolled laughter and overlapping realities. Negative physical effects may include incoordination, dizziness, and slurred speech.

According to Scientific American Magazine, the DEA is currently "looking into the drug" to determine if it should be considered "on par" with LSD and heroin.

However, research conducted by several universities -- including Harvard -- show salvia may have some serious medicinal value ... and could help improve treatments for conditions like schizophrenia and addiction.

Dr. Joe Haraszti -- an L.A. psychiatrist -- tells us, "Animal data suggest that salvia is not addictive. But people will try it once and since it's such an intense and unpleasant experience that they will not want to do it again."

The battle over salvia is raging in the scientific community. Currently, it's legal in most U.S. states ... including California.

  1. 18 and already a has been (if really a really was) and down the path of Britney Spears with no hope of a career. Could be Salvia as it's really a legal pot which is suppose to be artificial (like what, synthicized THC?) and used as incense, but if anyone is using it as such, I'll convert to an Obama supporter and say I do have to work at being this stupid.

  2. Salvia Divornium is a hallucinogen. There is a synthetic marijuana they are trying to outlaw in Texas called K2.

Salvia is natural and can produce an effect much unlike marijuana. It can be smoked with a water pipe, too.
