Media Lazily Smears Tea Party Movement with Andrew Beacham's Koran White House Stunt Updated: Andrew Beacham at 9/12 Rally (VIDEO)

by the Left Coast Rebel

The press is going to go ape-you-know-what over an individual named Andrew Beacham and Terry Randall "tearing pages from a Koran" in front of the White House for publicity today. I highly doubt Andrew Beacham's credentials and connection to the Tea Party movement.

Via Yahoo News:

WASHINGTON (AFP) – A small group of conservative Christians tore some pages from a Koran in a protest outside the White House Saturday to denounce what they called the "charade of Islam" on the anniversary of 9/11.

"Part of why we're doing that, please hear me: the charade that Islam is a peaceful religion must end," said Randall Terry, a leading anti-abortion campaigner, and one of six people who took part in the protest.

Another activist, Andrew Beacham, read out a few Koran passages calling for hatred towards Christians and Jews, and then ripped those pages from an English paperback edition of the Islamic holy book.

He carefully put the torn pieces into a plastic bag, in order not to litter, and said: "The only reason I will not burn it at the White House is because to burn anything on the Capitol grounds is a felony."

Beacham, who describes himself as a leader of the rightwing conservative Tea Party from Indiana, added: "The Twin Towers were taken down because of the Koran and other religious teachings."

W.C. Varones just wrote:

The claim that this guy is a Tea Party leader was credulously reported as fact by Agence France-Presse, Yahoo! News, Google News, the Times of India, and the Biloxi-Gulfport Sun-Herald.

Here is the web site of Tea Party Patriots Indiana in which you will find contact information for its leaders. You won't find "Andrew Beacham" among them.Andrew Beacham is a follower of anti-abortion extremist Randall Terry, and both of them are publicity hounds trying to claim the mantle of the Tea Party to get some media attention.

For now, folks - it looks like the press ran with the fact that Andrew Beacham "described himself as a leader of the rightwing conservative Tea Party from Indiana" without checking their sources. Like W.C. Varones above, I checked the Indiana Tea Party Patriots site and there was NO mention or list of Andrew Beacham.

Stay tuned for updates.

Updated: This is the big one, folks. In November of 2oo9, The Washington Independent wrote an article on anti abortion activist Terry Randall. In doing so, they mention a bearded-burnout named....you guessed it - Andrew Beacham!
Andrew Beacham, a young, bearded activist who has been ejected from four of President Obama’s speeches–including his University of Notre Dame commencement speech and a health care event in Maryland–was just as adamant. He came into Terry’s fold after a disappointing stint as a Republican activist and a Tea Party organizer in Indiana. Suiting up and heckling the president of the United States, he said, made him aware of how “in history, there are always people who are willing to step up and be the tip of the spear.” Shouting down the president of the United States is more effective than nearly any form of public protest, said Beacham, especially when the president is hesitant about how to respond.
Ok, repeat after me, "after a disappointing stint as a Republican activist and a Tea Party organizer in Indiana." In other words, a FAIL. Do facts matter?

Updated x2: Right now I am going through Andrew Beacham's Tweets. If you do the same, let me know what you find!

On Twitter, he describes himself as:

And he has 38 followers! He's no fan of Scott Brown.

Updated x4: TeaParty.org/IndianaTeaParty lists Andrew Beacham as an 'even coordinator'. According to the site, this is what an 'event coordinator' does:
State Coordinators are liaison between National efforts and Local events. They are an invaluable source of info, of what works and doesn't. To attend an event contact the event coordinator. To organize new events click on "Start A Chapter", enter info and contact State Coordinator.

Updated x5: Andrew Beacham at the 9/12 Washington DC Tea Party in 2009 (starting at 0:15 on the Youtube needle):

According to this video and other accounts I have read, Andrew Beacham seems to be a very animated, extreme, anti-abortion activist capitalizing on the energy behind the Tea Party movement.

In other words, shouting, screaming and putting on antics in front of the camera at Tea Party events and Obama speeches to get attention.

Of course in leftist, Soros-troll world that means he's a 'tea bagger'....

Updated x6: Also read: "Andrew Beacham is NOT TEA PARTY LEADER...despite Elite Media..." over at Temple of Mut.

Update x7: Criminal record? If one thing is true about Andrew Beacham, it's that he seems obsessed with getting noticed. He likes to get arrested in high profile events to get his name in the papers. Here he is getting arrested at Sotomayor's Senate hearing. Here he is, the unnamed heckler at an Obama health care rally.

Update x8:

If you want more proof that this was a political stunt one need only read the Politico's Maggie Haberman's account who was on the scene when it all happened.

A man who refused to give his name crashed the gate at the site of the protest near Park51 started ripping pages from the Quran, screaming "I'm Mapplethorping the Quran!" He was led out by cops, not arrested, and is now walking north with a scrum of media following him.

Walking North with a scrum of media, sounds like Beacham's trademark.

  2. Jesus Christ, LCR, whose side are you on? When did you become an apologist for Islam? I totally support what Beacham did: pointing out the truth about Islam and the Koran.

  3. Stogie: Allow me to answer, as I am a co-founder of a Tea Party. The reason this is important is that true Tea Parties are focused on fiscal responsibility, limited government, and free markets. Many Tea Party goers, such as myself, do not think the destruction of the Koran is in good taste -- and this is an obvious media attempt to make a wedge issue to create chaos.

It is important to note that Westboro Baptist minister who is infamous for funeral crashing also burnt Korans -- but with absolutely no media attention. The large-scale elite media focus on Koran-burning only occurred after protesters were successful at slowing-down the rush to build the Ground Zero Mosque.

THIS particular attempt at media-created mayhem comes the NIGHT before Tea Party Patriot rallies, large scale ones with lots of media presence, are slated to occur. This is the reason LCR is on-top of the story. Andrew Beacham is a media-hog who is being used to taint authentic patriots as intolerant kooks.

  4. Mutnodjmet,

Oh really? So you think opposition to a hateful book that was the justification for 9/11 is intolerance? Essentially, you are being tolerant of intolerance, and that commands no respect from me.

If we are to be dhimmis to Islam and refrain from exercising our right to free speech, then what are we fighting for in the Middle East? Certainly not our own freedoms, which you and LCR think should be suspended to avoid offending barbarians and to avoid propaganda from the left. Yes, we can avoid leftist propaganda by being just like them and parroting the same B.S.

Boo, LCR. I am disappointed in you.

  5. Stogie,

You don't have to desecrate the Koran to reject the imposition of Shariah law.

I wouldn't support Piss Christ art any more than I would tolerate barbaric Old Testament laws being adopted in the U.S.

    Get a little perspective.

  6. Stogie,no offense, but I didn't get the same impression as you did here... As i see it, it showed someone who wants to further their protest by trying to catch a ride with the Tea party movement...
I don't like what I see happening with Islam and in the world, but that is a separate issue with my discontent of our Govt!
