Gloria Allred is Lying Again (Still?)

by Proof

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
How do you keep Gloria Allred from lying?

People say that work is the curse of the blogging man.
Okay. People don't say that. I just made that up! But it's true. I've been jonesing to weigh in on the Gloria Allred/Jerry Brown hatchet job on Meg Whitman all day.

"Meg Whitman is exposed as a liar"
- Gloria Fibsalot
Poor Gloria has everything except proof, er, evidence. Ms. Allred has produced a letter from 2003 that purports to show that Meg Whitman had knowingly hired an illegal alien.
Ms. Whitman, speaking to the press made a statement, referring to her husband, that "we" had no knowledge of any such letter.

"Liar!" screeched Allred! She said "We"! Her husband's handwriting is on the seven year old letter. That suggests a couple of things. He may have simply forgotten. Please list every document you have read or signed over the last seven years, Ms. Allred. If you neglect to mention even one, we get to call you a liar, too.

Then, there is the possibility that Meg never saw the letter. She may have assumed that her husband didn't either. She may have been mistaken. Just because you're wrong doesn't mean you're lying. (There's at least one witless, liberal troll I know that uses the same faux logic: If a conservative is wrong or mistaken, he's automatically lying)

Or maybe she's lying. But, before you accuse someone of that, you need evidence. Much more than that thin Social Security letter that actually said the opposite of what G-L-O-R-I-A asserted.

The letter said that there was a discrepancy, but not to take it as evidence of the employee's immigration status. The letter warned the recipient NOT to take punitive measures (such as firing them) on the basis of this letter.

It almost seems as if the very liberal Democrat attorney Allred is suggesting that if you get such a letter and you have a Hispanic employee, that you should automatically assume that your employee is an illegal alien. What was it they were saying about Arizona and papers??? Allred thinks that Whitman should have profiled Santillan!
How very liberal of her!

That letter reminded me of a time when there was an error with my own SSN. One of my employers transposed two numbers in my SSN. Every week I would get a check with a check stub with my SSN on it. Or at least what looked at first glance to be my SSN. It wasn't. The first three numbers were correct. The last four numbers were correct. Only those weren't the numbers I focused on when I'd get my check. To a cursory glance it appeared correct. It was not.
Had I gotten a letter asking me about the discrepancy, I would have made the correction and sent it back. Should my employer have questioned my citizenship? Or was it okay because I am not Hispanic?

Last but not least, doesn't a lawyer have a responsibility to their clients to act in their best interests? I'm not a lawyer. I don't even play one on TV, but if I had a client who had committed numerous illegal acts, among them entering the country illegally, who was unknown to immigration officials, and unknown to law enforcement, do you think it would be in my client's best interest to not only have her expose herself via a public confession (not given as a part of any plea deal), and present the authorities with evidence to corroborate her confession? Would this constitute a statement, or declaration against interest?

All this makes sense only if Nicky Santillan is not the client. Her life and her freedom are now at risk. She could be subject to both legal penalties and possibly deportation. However unlikely it is that she would be prosecuted or deported, still the possibility exits. Is that how a responsible attorney acts? Sounds as if it is bordering on malpractice to me. Unless you really didn't care what happened to Ms. Santillan. If your purpose was to slander a political candidate a month before the election and sway the election in favor of your real client. One who has no formal agreement. One steeped in the criminal process enough to use intermediaries and cut outs to keep your campaign above the fray. One who would be in a position to payoff in political patronage rather than cash. The legal fee a "contribution in kind" from an ideological fellow traveler.

Brown may not have his fingerprints on this, but it was designed to benefit his campaign. It's a sleazy, last minute attempt to give one candidate political advantage over another.

10:10 Campaign's Global Warming Video, Blowing up Kids and Global Warming Skeptics for Gaia

by the Left Coast Rebel

Story Balloon emailed me this video earlier. Frankly, at first I had no idea just what I was watching. Doug Powers blogging over at Malkin gives some details:

The “10:10 Campaign” purports to be an effort to convince the world to cut carbon emissions ten percent per year for the next ten years. But if that doesn’t work, forget about eco-gulags for deniers — it might be necessary to just blow them up, kids and all.
Truly disgusting and disturbing. Truly, the inevitable conclusion of the pagan, anti-man religion of radical, Marxian-environmentalism is pure evil. Are we to gather that one that is even slightly skeptical of the religion of environmentalism should be blown to bits?:

So, really, what is the point of the violence in the video above? Is it just for the sheer shock factor, to get the youth to watch this thing and thus check out the 10:10 group? It sure didn't work for me, in fact I tried to research the 10:10 group to see if they are a part of some communist-enviro, domestic terrorist group. Also, can you imagine the howls if a group put together a video like this depicting advocates of the Ground Zero Mosque getting blown up?

I found this:

Welcome to the 10:10's Green Thing Group on Green Thing

Green Thing is a public service that inspires people to lead a greener life. With the help of brilliant videos and inspiring stories, Green Thing focuses on seven things you can do - and enjoy doing. Join people from 206 countries doing their green things and making a difference.

I don't get it.

Updated: Watts up With That writes about the 10:10 Group as well. I love this comment at his post:

Oh that was spectacular! No, really, I support this kind of rubbish because it shows exactly the mentality of the people we’re actually dealing with here. This, then, is the face of the modern environmentalist. “No pressure,” they’ll lie as they reach for the button. This is a masturbatory fantasy for these people, and it reflects the very nature of the world they want to live in.
Yes, it does.

Van Tran for Congress: New Van Tran Web Ad

by the Left Coast Rebel

The race for California 47th congressional district this week has been a ghost town in comparison to the Whitman/Nannygate bombshell. However, Donald Douglas at American Power came across a real gem, it's a new, effective web ad from the Van Tran Campaign.

Loretta Sanchez, stop ducking debates:

It is great and especially effective that they spliced in the audio from Loretta Sanchez's Chief of Staff claiming a Sanchez favorite - that she couldn't seem to find the time to debate Van Tran. I came across this facet quite a bit while researching the race. Funny too that they used the Hefner/Playboy Mansion angle just like I did in my PJM piece!

More on the Nannygate/Whitman Controversy at Pajamas Media

by the Left Coast Rebel

I apologize for the sparse content from yours truly today, I was up late last night and early this morning writing another Pajamas Media piece. This article was a bit different for me as it was done essentially on-the-fly and covers a breaking news story. Here's an excerpt:

As Ed Driscoll pointed us to the “Obi-Won Kenobi” of campaign predictors, this October surprise has been an expected wild card in the California electoral playbook. Political geeks in the audience will recall that a similar Nannygate flap killed candidate Michael Huffington’s 1996 California senate run. Yes that Huffington, in case you didn’t know. Likewise, Bush appointees Linda Chavez and Bernie Kerik were both felled by the Nannygate-sword.

To cross the hypothetical bridge to nowhere in Whitman’s Nannygate we are offered inch-thick, mile-wide evidence, anecdotal, tabloid, and otherwise.

1). Show me the papers! Yesterday Meg Whitman offered that she had no idea that her maid was an illegal immigrant and that a valid Social Security card was presented from Santillan’s hiring agency. Attorney Gloria Allred countered this, claiming that the Social Security Administration sent a letter to the Whitman household in 2003 red-flagging Santillan’s Social Security number. This is key to this case. Whitman says she never got it and has put that ball back in Allred’s court. Will Allred produce this letter? Or will she dangle it up high above election heads and then drop it, say, Halloween day? Boo! If Allred produces it, the fickle finger of blame gets pointed right back at her and the nanny: How did they get it? Did the nanny add mail theft to immigration law violations?

Hell hath no fury like the ego of a woman desperately seeking the spotlight. Gloria Allred has a colorful history of pulling last minute, ego-stroking stunts like this. Allred attempted to derail Arnold Schwarzenegger’s 2003 recall election by drumming up sexual harassment charges and a lawsuit from a Hollywood stuntwoman named Rhonda Miller. Miller claimed that Schwarzenegger “pulled up her shirt” and “suckled her breasts” on the Terminator 2 set. She also alleged that Schwarzenegger fondled her during the filming of True Lies. Despite the salacious allegations, Rhonda Miller’s suit was later dismissed. For more on this listen to Hugh Hewitt’s interview with Allred yesterday.

Read the rest here and let me know if you find any more details to this story that I have missed. Discussion at Memeorandum here and here.

Carl Paladino to Post reporter Fred Dicker: “I’ll take you out:” Will it help or hurt Paladino?

By Sam Foster

Last night, NY Gubernatorial candidate Carl Paladino gave a state-wide audience a taste of why he's referred to as "Crazy Carl."

NY Post reports:

Instead of responding to Dicker's question, Paladino accused him of sending a "goon" to stake out his former mistress at the home where she lives with their love child.

Sunday's Post featured a front-page story about Paladino's wife, Cathy, and his ex-lover, Suzanne Brady. It included an exclusive interview with Cathy Paladino.

"You send another goon to my daughter's house and I'll take you out, buddy!" Paladino told Dicker.

When Dicker asked how he planned to do that, Paladino replied, "Watch!"
"Are you threatening me?" Dicker asked.

When the candidate's aides jumped in to separate the men, Paladino, referring to Dicker, told them, "F- -k him."

Paladino's campaign manager, Michael Caputo, then got involved, and began arguing with Dicker.

Jammie Wearing Fool thinks it's over for Paladino, but there are those that disagree…

"…at a time when voters are furious at government, might Paladino's confrontation actually give him a boost?"

That's the Washington Post for your information. In fact, WaPo is conducting an unofficial poll and so far, there is no plurality of opinion on a topic most would conclude with a "hell yeah it hurts Paladino."

But NY is the place John Steinbeck once penned "neither good nor bad but unique." It's the home of mega-radio shock jock Howard Stern. NY is a place where polling shows that a majority of people in the state had no problem with Paladino's distasteful emails. It's a place where sometimes, the bad guy is hero.

Read the Observer interview on Paladino yesterday and you get a different picture than the one hitting NY newsstands this morning; a meme where the Paladino campaign is playing a calculated, but high risk game of political Russian roulette from a campaign manager who once advised Boris Yeltsin.

Honestly, Paladino has run for office before, but his name was Tom Golisano. The quiet, upstate reformer was drowned out by the distant NY press. Paladino throws a grenade everyday, ensuring a headline everyday, but are they useful? Has Golisano-ism resurrected in Paladino, but Jerry Springer style? Was his outburst a display of rage over the paparazzi stalking of his ten-year-old daughter as Politico pens, Crazy Carl being crazy, or a political calculation on the same day Gallup declares that distrust in the media is at an all time high?

November will tell all.

Here's video of the incident.

And Paladino's response today on the radio.

Via Memeorandum

WCNY seems to agree with me in their analysis and they point out that the full video of the exchange between Paladino and Dicker actually makes Paladino look "kind of like the good guy."

Oh the Sweet Justice: Sign in front of Progressive Caucus's San Diego Rep. Bob Filner says it All

by the Left Coast Rebel

Tonight I have to research (late) and write about (even later) the 'controversy' with RINO Meg Whitman's ex-illegal-nanny. No wait, ex-nanny that is an illegal and is claiming grievances 1 month before the election. It's fit for print at TMZ so all the details must be true!

I digress.

For the national audience here that don't know, Bob Filner represents California's 51 congressional district here in San Diego, California. A permanent, straight-line, consistent far left vote, one can always count on good 'grinning' Bob Filner to cast a vote to advance the progressive-collectivist agenda in congress. Yes, the same progressive-collectivist, socialist agenda that has brought this nation to it's knees recently.

San Diego has had enough of his neo-Bolshevik record and are effectively making it known (it's not illegal to park there, hahaha!):

Thanks to my friend Leslie Eastman at Temple of Mut and the San Diego based Southern California Tax Revolt Coalition for sending this picture.

On a serious not, there is a clear alternative for voters in San Diego's 51 congressional district.

Conservative Hispanic Society Condemns Loretta Sanchez's Racist Comments

by the Left Coast Rebel

The Conservative Hispanic Society recently released this presser:

The Conservative Hispanic Society condemns recent comments made by Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez, Democrat from the 47th district in California. Sanchez said, “The Vietnamese and the Republicans are, with an intensity, trying to take away this seat.” This overtly racist comment is inexcusable for someone that has served in the congress for so long. An apology, for a statement that Sanchez made in an unguarded moment during an interview with a friendly biased media outlet, doesn’t release her from accountability. It is amazing what liberals will do and say when having to defend their abhorrent record to the voters. The people in the 47th district of California deserve better than a closet racist. The CHS stands up for traditional conservative Hispanic values. We vote our values, and we welcome all people who share those values. Our membership includes all races. We believe that Hispanic values stand in stark contrast to the divisive agenda, that Sanchez and like-minded Democrats are pushing.

The Conservative Hispanic Society is a solid, up-and-coming grassroots, limited government group. Read more about them here and follow them at Facebook here.

Meg Whitman and Jerry Brown Debate for the First Time

by the Left Coast Rebel

Something spooky happened last night. The 'Dracula' highlight from last night's debate:

"Putting Jerry Brown in charge of negotiating with the labor unions around pensions, around how many people we have in the state government, is like putting Count Dracula in charge of the blood bank."
---Republican candidate for governor in California, former Ebay executive Meg Whitman.

Meg Whitman and 'Count Dracula Moonbeam' Jerry Brown debated for the first time last night. Much like the senate race between incumbent Barbara Boxer and former HP exec Carly Fiorina, Jerry Brown attacked Whitman for her wealth and Whitman attacked Jerry Brown's record.

Watch the first 15 minutes of the debate:

The full, 59 minute video of the Brown/Whitman debate is here at the UC Davis site. UC Davis "Students for Meg" as well as local union group(s) are shown in this video before the debate:

Carly Fiorina, Barbara Boxer Radio Debate in Pasadena, California

by the Left Coast Rebel

The senate race here in California will feature it's likely last debate tonight. The debate takes place in Pasadena, California at the Southern California Public Radio building and will go live via video and radio - but there's a catch.

Only Republican challenger Carly Fiorina will actually be present at the event - Barbara Boxer will be piped in via a live feed from Washington.

Symbolic and ironic, no?

Updated 9/30/2010: Full audio of the radio debate can be found here.

A highlight from the debate took place when Fiorina was questioned over her recent comment about Boxer being aligned with extremist environmental groups. Here is the transcript:

Morrison: Senator, thank you very much. Another question, this one for Ms. Fiorina, about the environment. In the first debate, Ms. Fiorina, you said Senator Boxer supports extreme environmental groups. What groups are those?

Fiorina: All I can tell you is that it is the only explanation I can come up with for–

Morrison (crosstalk): No, what are the names of these groups?

Fiorina: (laughs, pause) The only explanation that I can come up with for Senator Boxer's refusal to step forward and help tens of thousands of people who are standing in food lines in the middle of the most productive farmland in the world and being handed canned goods from China is that she must feel that she is beholden to a set of contributions coming from a variety of organizations.

I think, if you will look, you will find that Barbara Boxer is perhaps the largest recipient of money from environmental interests. Now I'm not saying every one of those interests is extreme, but I can only–

Morrison (crosstalk): So, but please, if you're going to name, you have to single them out as to which are extreme and which are not, because to say "extreme" without singling them out, that raises the question that they may all be. So are there some that you were thinking of when you said this?

Fiorina: I think the point here is not what various organizations have in their charters, I think the point here is, what is it that Senator Boxer believes she is supposed to be doing in Washington, D.C.? Is she supposed to be serving the interests of the people of California, tens of thousands of whom were thrown out of work, or is she supposed to be representing the interest of those special interests like big labor leadership, or like a set of environmental groups. Who is it that she’s representing – the special interests, or the interests of the people of California?

Lerner: Ms. Fiorina, excuse me. Let's go more specific. You opposed– I think you opposed Proposition 23, and that will stop AB 32 from starting in California, and from addressing our nation's climate and energy challenges. Why is that, when this law can develop a new industry, a new industry dedicated to green energy and put California back in the front of the country?

Fiorina: Well first, we are falling behind in innovation and we are falling behind in energy innovation. All of these thousands of clean green jobs that Senator Boxer keeps promising, the reality is that we spend less on energy [research and development] than many other nations in the world.

We must be the leader in innovation, and we must be the leader in clean green technologies. And we are not on a path to do so, because we don’t spend as much, our federal government doesn't spend as much on federally-funded energy R & D. We have great research research institutions here who could use the support, and because our R & D tax credit is now 17th in the world, not first in the world. However, the reason I believe AB 32 is a bad idea is because to deal with global warming requires a serious global solution. AB 32–

Morrison: So Ms. Fiorina, that being the case, if AB 32 is a state issue and you talk about this needing a national, global solution, so would you oppose cap-and-trade? What is a competent national solution, and how does it address states' rights issues, like California, to set its own policy?

Fiorina: So, scientists agree that a single sate, or a single nation acting alone can have no impact on global warming. I would immediately engage in serious bilateral discussions with China, a nation that uses more coal than we do, but also that researches more into clean coal.

I oppose Barbara Boxer's cap-and-trade bill. It has been called the most expensive piece of legislation in U.S. history. Economists agree it would cost this nation millions of jobs. Economists agree it would cause us trillions of dollars of lost economic output.

The left considered this a 'gotcha' moment in the debate. Here is video of advisors from both campaigns responding:

Campaigns react to Second Fiorina/ Boxer debate from 89.3 KPCC on Vimeo.

Rep. Alan Grayson: Another Far-left Moonbat to bite the dust in November?

by the Left Coast Rebel

Florida's Rep. Alan Grayson is one of the most despicable, far-left, race-baiting moonbats in congress. I know, I know, the list is long but it's true. Perhaps put him in the top 10 but with a proclivity to open his extremist-leftist yapper and say things in public that most far-left, neo-Bolshevik pols only chat about at limo-liberal cocktail parties.

Good news - is his number up?

(Sunshine State News) In one of the most closely watched U.S. House races in the nation, Republican Daniel Webster now holds a 7-point lead over Democratic Rep. Alan Grayson in Central Florida's 8th Congressional District, according to a new Sunshine State News Poll.

Webster, a former state senator, leads the freshman congressman 43-36 in the survey of 559 likely voters conducted Sept. 25-27. TEA ("Taxed Enough Already") Party candidate Peg Dunmire drew 6 percent and NPA hopeful George Metcalfe garnered 3 percent, while 9 percent remained undecided (2 percent cited "other" and 1 percent refused to state).

Digging deeper, the numbers look even worse for Grayson as 51 percent of respondents said they had an unfavorable view of the Orlando-area congressman.

"Grayson has real problems here," said Jim Lee, president of Voter Survey Service, which conducted the poll for Sunshine State News.

"He’s even more unpopular than the president, which is not surprising given how controversial he has been with his rhetoric, overall style and TV ads."

Lee added, "It’s fascinating that both Grayson and the president have virtually the same image (a positive/negative ratio of 34/51), but Grayson is actually disliked more by independents (36/47 favorable/unfavorable) while Obama is only 36/37."
I first realized just how much of a leftist-extremist Grayson was when covering the story of the Mount Doral, Florida doctor who exercised his first amendment rights and took a stand against Obamacare. Read the post and judge the Grayson's Air America-like behavior.

'Nuff said, Grayson - see you at the unemployment line.

Updated: Just Me from What Planet Am I On sees the connection between Grayson's plummeting reelection bid to the Taliban ad released recently:

The best thing that could have happened was Grayson running that "Taliban ad"; the race was actually really close until that ad came out.

I'm thinking about sending Grayson a personal email thanking him for running that ad and insuring an easy victory for Webster. As soon as the ad came out, even his most loyal supporters bailed on him.
Here is the "Taliban Dan" ad:

Dark, Foreboding News for Republican Beltway Insiders, Tea Party Hippy-Punchers

by the Left Coast Rebel

The Wall Street Journal just released an interesting poll, showing the tea party gaining steam (no pun intended), especially in the grassroots of the Republican party:

WSJ: In the survey, 71% of Republicans described themselves as tea-party supporters, saying they had a favorable image of the movement or hoped tea- party candidates would do well in the Nov. 2 elections.

The poll found that tea-party supporters make up one-third of the voters most likely to cast ballots in November's midterm elections. This showed the movement "isn't a small little segment, but it is a huge part of what's driving 2010," Mr. Hart said.

The tea party is a major driver of the so-called enthusiasm gap, with three-quarters of supporters saying they are intensely interested in the election.

Another Black Conservative

The message for the GOP is clear; Hippy Punch the Tea Parties and you WILL draw back a nub.

Pajamas Media: 'The Vietnamese are Coming!': An Interview with CD-47's Van Tran
by the Left Coast Rebel

As noted last week, Orange County Democrat Loretta Sanchez (a vile, despicable human being in her own right, notwithstanding), made a vile, despicable comment on a Spanish-only network. Her target was Vietnamese American Van Tran and I took the occasion to grab an interview with him and write an article for Pajamas Media.

If anything, the more I researched Van Tran, the more I liked him. The more I researched Loretta Sanchez, the more I connected-the-dots on just how this nation has gotten to the point where we are under decades of rotting leadership.

Paladino to The View’s Joy Behar: “She’s suffering from a sudden hot flash”

By Sam Foster

I'm sure most of you may not be familiar with the brazen Carl Paladino politicking style.  If you want to know how this little known businessman from Buffalo won a landslide primary victory over Rick Lazio and why the Democrat Andrew Cuomo can't find an angle of attack on Paladino here's an example for you.

Buffalo's WGRZ reports:

On Monday's edition of the ABC talk show, co-host Joy Behar said Paladino "could win if all his illegitimate children vote."

The Paladino campaign fired back with the following statement:

"Joy Behar should be absolutely ashamed of herself for referring to Carl's daughter as illegimate. She's a child and does not deserve that kind of treatment from a woman who should know better. That's catty, it's pissy and strikes of something that someone would say when suffering from a sudden hot flash. The only person here who's illegimate is Joy Behar's hairstylist. Joy is off carl paladino's christmas card list."

You can watch Joy's comments on The View here.

Paladino; love him, hate him, but the man certainly knows how to say something that people are going to be talking about.

(VIDEO) Justin Bieber Used as Anti-tea party Prop in "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" Season Premiere

by the Left Coast Rebel

Reason 45,642,323 to hate Hollywood.

Apparently, the powers-that-be behind the scenes decided to place teen icon and blossoming child actor Justin Bieber in a "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" plot wherein the tea party is smeared as mad-hat bombers.

Matthew Boyle at the Daily Caller reported this yesterday:

The Sept. 23 season premiere plot of CBS’s hit drama “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” involved guest star Justin Bieber attending “right-wing” political events before being targeted as a suspect in bombings of a Las Vegas Police Department funeral.

Alessandra Stanley of The New York Times wrote on Sept. 24 that Bieber played a “domestic terrorist with Tea Party leanings.” Even though the episode made no direct reference to the Tea Party, the “right-wing” protest depicted resembled a Tea Party protest, at least according to some viewers who have commented on, a conservative blog.

BigHollywood and BigGovernment publisher Andrew Breitbart said the show’s producers are undoubtedly using the program as a propaganda mechanism and he finds it particularly disturbing that an episode like this popped up so close to the upcoming midterm elections.

Bieber’s casting was an attempt to draw in a big audience for the season opener and to connect different elements of popular culture, the show’s creator, Anthony Zuiker, has said in statements.

Breitbart said the Tea Party movement has consistently proven left-wing claims wrong and that Tea Partiers have found alternative media outlets to fight back against what they see as their inaccurate portrayal in the traditional mainstream media. Breitbart further added that he wouldn’t be surprised if Hollywood continues to add what he sees as subliminal propagandist messages to their productions.

“This is the reason so many people don’t watch these shows anymore,” Breitbart said.

CBS declined TheDC’s request for comment.

Disgusting. Although I could not find video of Justin Bieber attending the tea party rally, This shows the behind-the-scenes aspect of the episode, I think it's obvious what the attempt is:

SEIU's Andy Stern Being Investigated by FBI

by the Left Coast Rebel

It seems that Obama's BFF may be facing jail time, via AP:

WASHINGTON — The FBI and the U.S. Labor Department are investigating prominent labor leader Andy Stern in their probe of corruption at the Service Employees International Union, according to two people who have been interviewed by federal agents.

The two organized labor officials met with federal agents this summer to answer questions about a six-figure book contract that Stern landed in 2006 and his role in approving money to pay the salary of an SEIU leader in California who allegedly performed no work.

Both officials spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitive nature of the investigation. The FBI and the Labor Department's office of inspector general declined to comment for the record.

The disclosure about the federal inquiry of Stern — who abruptly resigned as president of the 2.2-million member SEIU in April — comes just weeks ahead of contentious congressional elections in which the union is spending an estimated $44 million to support its favored Democratic candidates.

The SEIU has been plagued with several financial scandals since 2008, when the Los Angeles Times reported that Tyrone Freeman, head of the union's largest California local, misappropriated hundreds of thousands of dollars from the union. The union ousted Freeman and demanded that he return the money. No federal charges have been filed against him, but SEIU spokeswoman Michelle Ringuette said the union has been cooperating with the FBI.

Stern left his post two years before the end of his term, saying he wanted to focus more on his personal life. He remains a member of President Barack Obama's deficit commission and a highly influential figure in the White House, where he was one of the most frequent visitors last year. He is also a research fellow at Georgetown University and a paid consultant for the SEIU.

Recall that Andy Stern (which even the AP above admits) was top dog/frequent visitor at the White House and a member of Obama's 'deficit commission' (yes, lunacy that is unprecedented).

I hope that Andy Stern has the book thrown at him as well as the administration (after the landslide election in November). I can hardly wait.

Peas of a pod, Marxist, redistributionists:
From left to right, Dear Leader, Henry Nichola of the AFL-CIO, Anna Burger of SEIU and the most frequent visitor to the White House before he resigned, Obama/SEIU Andy Stern.

When Did the Rolling Stone Become a Far-Left, Obamunist Rag?

by the Left Coast Rebel

I have picked up a Rolling Stone issue from time to time, when there is nothing better to burn some time with and People Magazine is the next option. Typically this occurrence is happenstance at an airport during a long distance connection flight.

I found, quite obviously, that Rolling Stone is far, far, far-left. And I don't even mean the insidious, embedded left of say, the New York Times. Far left.

The current issue, an Obama sit-down is a complete travesty of supposed journalism. In fact, it may be the worst example of Obama-worship and softball artistry that I have yet encountered. Here is the cover. "Obama in Command": The Rolling Stone Interview:

How about these 'questions' from the Rolling Stone as they sat down with the Obamanation:

When you came into office, you felt you would be able to work with the other side. When did you realize that the Republicans had abandoned any real effort to work with you and create bipartisan policy?

How do you feel about the fact that day after day, there's this really destructive attack on whatever you propose? Does that bother you? Has it shocked you?

What do you think of Fox News? Do you think it's a good institution for America and for democracy?

Here's an extremist gem question:

James Hansen, the NASA scientist who is perhaps the most respected authority on global warming, says that climate change is the predominant moral issue of the 21st century, comparable to slavery faced by Lincoln and the response to Nazism faced by Churchill. Do you agree with that statement?

You had Bob Dylan here. How did that go? Did you cry?

How did that go? Did you cry???

I'm going to stop there, my stomach can't take any more. This style of 'journalism' makes a 16 year old sitting down with Paris Hilton sound professional by comparison.

Wonkette loves the interview too, "Obama Tells Rolling Stone why Republicans are so Lame," what does that tell you?

University of Texas, Austin Shooting: Author John Lott of 'More Guns, Less Crime' was to Speak at Campus Same Day as Shooting

by the Left Coast Rebel

Here we go. On queue, look for the usual far-left, anti-gun extremist groups to connect-the-dots or at least slobber over the timing of this. University of Texas, Austin, gun rights advocates were slated to meet today. Gun rights advocate and author, John Lott (pictured left) was going to speak as well:

In an unfortunate coincidence, several student organization, including the Libertarian Longhorns, the UT Students for Concealed Carry on Campus, the UT Objectivism Society and the UT Federalist Society planned to host John Lott, author of the book “More Guns, Less Crime,” at the UT Law School.

It was planned for 6 this evening.

“I don’t want to comment on any political aspects of this,” said Jeff Shi, a full-time student computer science student and the president of UT Students for Concealed Carry on Campus. “I hope everything turns out well and the only casualties are the bad guys.”

Oh my God, even Ayn Rand acolytes and Libertarians were going to gather today!

Never mind that law-abiding, licensed-concealed, heat-packing security, police and yes, perhaps faculty and students may have stopped the shooters(s) from killing dozens today with his 'assault rifle', Ak-47.

Remember, it takes time for authorities to arrive at a scene like this and mere minutes can make the difference between life and death for those caught in the middle of a terrible scene like today's UT shooting.

Soros-funded far-left, neo-Bolshevik hate sites will jump on this in 3,2,1....

Updated at 6:32 a.m. - Shooter is dead? More details from Austin's

UT police say an active shooting situation is taking place on campus. Officials believe they have the suspect contained.

Austin Police Chief Art Acevedo confirmed that the shooter is dead from what appears to be self-inflicted gunshot wound. Police are looking for an additional suspect, and therefore UT continues to be locked down, and people are urged to stay out of the area.

“I’m driving there right now trying to get there,” university spokeswoman Rhonda Weldon said.

“The first report I got was that there was an armed suspect in the Perry-Casteneda library. Now I’m told by campus security that the individual has shot himself on the sixth but I’m not there yet so I can’t confirm that.”

Alicia Dietrich, public affairs assistant with the Harry Ransom Center, which is down the street from the library, said she heard the shots as she was parking her bike.

“I didn’t even know for sure that it was gunshots,” Dietrich said at 8:47 a.m. “The sirens went off about five to ten minutes ago. The building has been locked down and I don’t think they’re letting anybody in or out.”

A police officer at Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Speedway told a group of students who asked if they could go into campus: “There’s been a shooting and right now more people may be involved. You’re taking your safety into your own hands if you head anywhere in this area.”

Kevin Olsen, a graduate student at the University of Texas, said he was walking by the Dobie dorm about 8:15 a.m. when he heard about eight to 10 shots in short bursts. He said other people walking to class also heard shots and were looking around “kind of in awe.”

A UT facilities worker told KLBJ-AM that he heard at least 10 gunshots but saw nobody get hit.

Updated 10:45 a.m. CST: Police just held a news conference with UT and Austin Police Departments. Authorities stressed that at this point there are no injuries or fatalities other than the first suspect who is confirmed dead. They also confirmed that the search is still on for the second suspect but did not provide details beyond that.

Updated 11:50 a.m. CST: UT campus is clear and buildings are now open:

UT officials said the campus has been given the all clear and that all campus buildings have been opened.

Officials have tightened the perimeter around the campus, but UT spokeswoman Rhonda Weldon didn’t have details other than to say it was around the Perry-Castaneda Library.

Although police tape remains up, students can be seen walking around the campus.

For the past hour, officers have been examining shell casings on the ground near the Sugar Shack barbecue stand in a parking lot just east of Whitis Street on the south side of 21st.

Astroturf-a-palooza (One Nation Working Together)

By RightKlik

Astro·Turf \ˈas-trə-ˌtərf, -ˌtrō-\ : a political term of art for a faux movement funded by traditional powers to give a cause the appearance of independent grassroots support.

Smells like Soros...

An alphabet soup of union groups (e.g. AFL-CIO, SEIU, NEA, AFSCME, USW) in conjunction with the NAACP,Planned Parenthood, Code Pink and a host of radical, militant, race-baiting organizations will converge on Washington, D.C. on Saturday (10-2-10).

Big Government has provided excellent information on the Communist, Pro-Terrorist, Anti-Israel elements that are proud sponsors of the event. Together under the "One Nation" umbrella, hundreds of collectivist organizations representing hundreds of thousands of statist drones are expected show up for what might be the greatest display of astroturf of all time:
On October 2nd, the NAACP and national labor unions will give tens of thousands of people free bus rides, free lunches, free T-shirts and free Metro farecards as inducements to attend the One Nation Working Together rally being organized by a coalition of radical leftist organizations at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C.

The Service Employees International Union (SEIU) has promised to give free bus rides from major metropolitan areas within twelve hours of D.C. The United Steelworkers are also busing in demonstrators from across the Northeast. Even the Screen Actors Guild is ‘getting on the bus.’
I'm not kidding... they're busing in ACTORS. It's faker than fake.

Here's a small sample of some of the nutty groups that will be represented at Astroturf-a-palooza:
Why will they be marching? For a number of ill-conceived and incoherent reasons:
  • "We march for a clean environment, so no child is ever forced to decide between drinking the water or breathing the air and staying healthy." [Hold your breath, Baby!]
  • "We are...frustrated that society seems willing to spend more locking up our bodies than educating our minds."
  • "...enact policies that expand access to the polls for everyone, including former felons" [What could go wrong?]
  • "Increase and index the minimum wage." [Because unemployment isn't high enough already?]
  • "We march for a nation in which each person who wants to work can find a job that pays enough to support a family." [No entry-level jobs?]
  • "We have the pride, power and determination to keep ourselves – and our country – moving up and out of the valley greed created."
  • "Make every job a safe job." [No more soldiers, firefighters, roofers, power line installers, or police officers]
  • "We march for green jobs..."
  • "Everyone who works in America should have the right to join with their co-workers to have a voice on the job." [Card check]
  • " child should live in fear that her parents will be deported." [DREAM Act!]
  • " move our nation beyond this moment when a handful of Senators can block urgently needed progress..." [No need to debate; end the filibuster]
  • "And on 11-2-10, we will march again – into the voting booths."
I hope Andrew Breitbart gets an opportunity to stop by for a visit.

Another Potential Giant Step Towards the Police State: Internet Wiretapping

by the Left Coast Rebel

The Obama administration thinks there is too much free-flowing information on the internet. Why is this news shocking to anyone? Why is it that many on the left don't see that the Obama administration is all about one thing and one thing only.

Consolidation of power at any cost.

Yes, even power over the 'wild, wild, west' of the interwebs. Read and weep for your liberties:

(NYT)WASHINGTON — Federal law enforcement and national security officials are preparing to seek sweeping new regulations for the Internet, arguing that their ability to wiretap criminal and terrorism suspects is “going dark” as people increasingly communicate online instead of by telephone.

Essentially, officials want Congress to require all services that enable communications — including encrypted e-mail transmitters like BlackBerry, social networking Web sites like Facebook and software that allows direct “peer to peer” messaging like Skype — to be technically capable of complying if served with a wiretap order. The mandate would include being able to intercept and unscramble encrypted messages.

The bill, which the Obama administration plans to submit to lawmakers next year, raises fresh questions about how to balance security needs with protecting privacy and fostering innovation. And because security services around the world face the same problem, it could set an example that is copied globally.

Can you imagine another better case for a complete changeover of our entire governement? I can't wait to see this discussed among the ruling class in congress.

Even lefty Glenn Greenwald sees the Orwellian writing on the wall here and the parallels to Afghanistan, "The Obama administration's war on privacy."

Segway Owner Jimi Heselden Falls off Cliff and Dies on Segway

by the Left Coast Rebel

Forgive me for seemingly not paying respect to the deceased but the timing of the article presented here is quite strange. Why, you ask? Here at fort LCR last night we watched 2009's Mall Cop with Kevin James. James plays 'security guard' Paul Blart who becomes entangled amidst a local shopping mall saga of love, intrigue and a heart wearming triumph of good vs. evil (actually, it's just a story about a shy, somewhat depressed security guard that beats a mall heist and gets the girl at the end).

It's good, clean, family-fun.

Here's the trailer for Mall Cop, note the Segway that he uses for his 'patrol':

One of the final climax scenes shows 'officer' Paul Blart chasing a bad guy to to the roof of the building and then jumping a large chasm to take out the criminal. "There's no way that would be possible," I thought. I couldn't find a Youtube clip of that scene, but again, here is why it is ironic (and again, rest in peace, Jimi Heselden):

The multi-millionaire owner of the Segway company died in a freak accident yesterday when he rode one of the high-tech two-wheel machines off a cliff and into a river.

Former miner Jimi Heselden, 62, plunged into the River Wharfe while riding around his West Yorkshire estate in Boston Spa on a rugged country version of the Segway.

He bought the firm last December and was using one of the machines - which use gyroscopes to remain upright and are controlled by the direction in which the rider leans - to inspect the grounds of his property.

Big heart: Jimi Heselden donated more than £23 million to charity

Jimi Heselden, the multi-millionaire owner of the Segway company, died in a freak accident when he rode one of the high-tech two-wheel machines off a cliff and into a river

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said today: 'Police were called at 11.40am yesterday to reports of a man in the River Wharfe, apparently having fallen from the cliffs above.

'A Segway-style vehicle was recovered. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

'At this time we do not believe the death to be suspicious.'

Obama Supporter Greg Smith has a Velma Hart Moment

by the Left Coast Rebel

Have you ever heard of Greg Smith (pictured left)? Well, his name and recognition with Obama supporters goes back to 2007. The New York Post has this:

Three years ago, Bryant Park Hotel doorman Greg Smith, 46, once a diehard supporter of the Clintons, put his life on hold to campaign for Barack Obama. Shortly after The Post featured Smith's conversion on the front page in April 2007, Obama called the doorman and asked him to introduce him on the cam paign trail. Now, 18 months after Obama's inaugura tion, Smith says he's losing hope for the change he once believed in.
Ok, now you know who he is and what he did for The One.

Now meet Obama-fan Greg Smith in September, 2010. Let's just say that capital going on strike, Washington-induced uncertainty and a historically unprecedented power grab for the state haven't been good to Greg, either:

Two years later, I'm living a more sober reality.

My life is not better. I'm a college graduate and I still can't get a good job.

I'm back working as a doorman at a Manhattan hotel earning peanuts because my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer and I need the health insurance again.

I share the same sentiments of Velma Hart, the woman who confronted Obama at a town hall last week, saying she was tired of defending him. The idea of leaving New York is even on the table.

Obama has let professional politicians take over the White House -- and our dream of change.

I know it's childish to expect solutions to happen overnight. Obama inherited a big old mess, and I don't expect him to have everything figured out after 18 months.

But we're only human and we want to see some visible change.

I'm trying to keep up my hope -- but I'm afraid that instead of being that guy who knocked on doors in Denver, I'm now the person who needs convincing.

Welcome to reality, Greg - you were a little cog in a great big wheel that has us all circling the same socialist vortex if misery, poverty and the road to forced American un-exceptionalism.

White Latex Paint Vs. Taser - Crook* Loses

By Proof

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Red, white and blue latex - Not our crook!

I saw this in today's local dead tree paper. In the stupid crook department, a man from Cheyenne Wyoming covered himself with white latex paint in hopes of avoiding a police Taser. Police stunned him anyway!

September 16th, the Cheyenne police were called to Brian Mattert's house because of domestic violence. When police arrived, according to the Wyoming Tribune Eagle, this genius Mattert thought he'd be Tased, so he covered himself in white paint and told the police that if they shot him, he'd die.

The Taser performed as advertised...twice! And what Wyatt Earp over at Support You Local Gunfighter calls "God's Joy Buzzer" got the job done. Other than getting white latex paint on the officers, there were no serious ramifications, other than this moron spending time in the Graybar Hotel covered in paint!

Don't tase me, bro, indeed!

Update: From the Wyoming Tribune Eagle:
According to the police report, Mattert, 34, became defiant and uncooperative.

The officers continued to demand his surrender and explained that the paint would not affect a Taser's capability nor would it cause his death if used.

After some time, the officers were able to get Mattert into his back yard. He tried to pull away and was subsequently shocked with a Taser.

As he lay in a fetal position on the grass, Mattert refused to give up his hand so he could be placed in cuffs. So he was shocked again, and the officers were able to detain him.

*Closed Captioning for the Humor Impaired: Technically he's a perp, not a crook.

Hill Buzz Boyz: Epic Letter from reader on Carl Paladino, "Paladino Phenomenom"

by the Left Coast Rebel

So. Cal. Tax Revolt Coaltion's Leslie Eastman tipped me on this incredible letter written to Hill Buzz Boyz by a concerned reader that lives in New York. Leslie Eastman could see the parallels between New York and California, in this description - especially the so-called Parasite Party.

Absolutely moving and outstanding, read and enjoy, "Paladino Phenomenon":

There are several facts folks need to know about the Paladino phenomenon, and they are all very personal.

First, folks in New York State are sickened because our children move out of state to find jobs and careers. They are refugees. People’s families are torn apart because of the legalized corruption in New York. The insanely high taxes, the insanely intrusive regulatory atmosphere, the stranglehold of the government unions on our government and, more importantly, on our shoddy schools, drive young folks to places where human beings can live their lives in freedom and prosperity, and simply learn.

Second, politics in New York has been refined to a not so sophisticated insider’s game. There is one party in New York, the Parasite Party, feeding off the ever-dwindling folks who work hard, obey the rules, and want only to raise a family knowing their children can get a good education and have prospects of a better life.

What makes this aspect of the Paladino phenomenon personal is the way the Parasite Party insults and disparages the very folks who pay the bills. The GZ mosque is the perfect example of this fact of New York life. We are talked down to by the Parasites, who call us bigots and intolerant.

Third, New York is colloquially divided into an Upstate v. Downstate perspective. This is off kilter. The real division is between Manhatten, Brooklyn, the Bronx and the rest of the state. Manhattan is the capitol of the world, a treasure chest of immense wealth and immense influence (not to mention, a beautiful, astonishing place, full of wonderful people). The wealth and the influence naturally lead to the domination of all New York State. There is no Columbus balancing Cleveland balancing Cincinnati, no Los Angeles in balance with San Francisco, or Houston with Dallas.

The interests of NYC are not the interests of the rest of the state. Outside NYC, the chief business is agriculture. Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Schenectady, Rome, Utica, are not the centers of manufacturing or technology they once were. They are now struggling populations, asphyxiated with mandates imposed – - but not adequately funded – - by the state. New Yorkers are nickled and dimed to feed the Parasite Party. We are bizarrely divided between those who resent the nickel and diming, and those who are not affected. High taxes and oppressive regulations are irrelevant to a powerful elite who transcend New York State, and to those who contribute little or nothing. The elite dominates, and is indifferent to, the rest of the state, and the rest of the state knows it.

Carl Paladino understands: this is personal, it is not business. The Parasite Party is not good for most New Yorkers. They are the Soviet, and he is Lech Walesa.

For folks in Buffalo, Paladino is primarily familiar because of a series of radio ads he ran over time, at his own expense, addressing the shoddiness of the government schools locally. Paladino took the shocking position that children were being inhumanely deprived of the education they needed to live their lives successfully. His commercials began with the signature word, “HELLO!” He then would state the obvious: failure rates and drop-out rates meant actual human beings were the victims of forces for whom the well-being of the students were a peripheral concern. The implicit premise of his advertisements was this: it is within the power of our community to prepare these human beings for success, but politics is getting in the way.

Hello! Charles Dickens!

I do not know Paladino personally, although I once got a thank you note from him for something I did, something I do not remember. It was a little thing. I remember because the note was nice and thoughtful and unnecessary. I am not, nor have ever been, in a position to affect his life in any manner (nor the opposite).

I do know folks who know Carl Paladino personally. For what it is worth, I trust these folks, trust their judgment, and have no doubt they are accurate. What they say is: Carl is genuine. He is a normal human, and he cares.

He is shrewd, a great organizer, compassionate and a force of nature. He loves liberty. Paladino resonates because he is himself, understands what is going on in New York, and is fearless in saying what others do not have the nerve to say.

Paladino made something of himself. No person fed him with a silver spoon and cleared the path.

This election for governor in New York represents the essence of the Tea Party. As much as it is about taxes and education policy and legal corruption, it is above all about our culture, here in New York and throughout America. Do we have the courage to shatter the mind-control “shut up!” politics of the Left?

Carl Paladino is unlike any other person running for office today. He is totally himself.

What makes him so fascinating, is the question he implicitly throws in the face of the Parasite Party. Is it possible to be yourself, to speak your mind, and run for office with any prospect to win?

Leftists rely upon intimidation and manipulation designed to have folks not be themselves. They rely on Shut Up.

It takes bravery and courage to confront Pravda and Patrice Lumumba University, the powerful would-be arbiters of our consciousness.

Sarah Palin is the only other person so ably demonstrating exactly what Paladino is doing (well, ok, Christie). The other Tea Party folks are wonderful, they are great, but they do not have the exact personality (like Sarah) – - a personality which is a gift of life – - the blunt ability to confront the Shut Up culture.

Here is the secret of Sarah and Paladino. They are William Buckley, folks who see things as they are, who are willing to sacrifice themselves, and who love their fellow human beings so much, they dare to be themselves.

This year, Paladino is the only one up for election who is absolutely Lech Walesa. His election is the symbol of whether we keep our republic.

Also read - The Parasite-Party has contributed an untold amount to our national malaise, a new CNN poll points to 75% of Americans that think we are still in a recession. Like Leslie Eastman opined in a note to me - will California follow suit in the effort to save the republic?
