I wanted to carry additional aerial photos of the August 28, 2010 Glenn Beck "Restoring Honor" rally so I put on my Google cap and started searching. First off is this aerial shot that has been circling the intertubes (h/t Newsbusters) and is one of the most awesome:

Here's another awesome aerial shot of the Glenn Beck "Restoring Honor" rally per Right Scoop:
Again, here are the aerial shots taken by AirPhotosLIVE.com whereby CBS News estimated the Glenn Beck rally crowd at "87,000".

wish you had aerials of comparison of that other "event" in D.C..... LOL!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the photos. I like the aerial shots. It was hard to get a sense of what it actually looked like from the ground.
ReplyDeleteAs someone who was actually at the rally; I would like to point out that the crowd underneath the trees was just as thick as next to the pool. There is a paved surface under those trees (on the left at least) that was standing room only. I know because I spent an hour listening under those trees. I remember seeing a young boy that was actually perched up in one of the trees. I believe if the trees weren't hiding all those people, they would not have underestimated the crowd at 87,000. As a firsthand witness, I believe it was much larger.
That certainly looks like a "few thousand people".
ReplyDeleteNice!
ReplyDeleteI saw another blog showing a video of how clean the grounds were after this rally. Then, there was a link to a news article about the trash cleanup after the Obama inauguration. The cleanup crews there picked up 100 TONS of trash!
ReplyDeleteAnd I thought the liberals CARED about the environment! Just goes to show the crowd at this rally has A LOT more class. Can I get an AMEN?
...Looking for a single racial minority in the photos (besides the policeman).....
ReplyDeleteLawrence, I was at the Rally to Restore Sanity and was wondering the same thing about trees obscuring the count. Apparently, Airphotoslive does take into account the people standing under the trees. I'm not sure about any balloons, but there was a helicopter that made repeated and odd passes, almost as if it was trying to photograph from multiple angles to see underneath trees. I haven't confirmed this. I wish they would release more photos of both rallies. They should at least demonstrate that they photographed comprehensively. Anyway, there's an image here demonstrating their under-tree counts: http://ruddabby.wordpress.com/2010/09/05/bagaimana-menghitung-kerumunan-orang-secara-akurat/
