British Citizen Arrested in Dubai for Wearing Bikini

by the Left Coast Rebel

London's Daily Mail:

A British holidaymaker has been charged with indecency in Dubai after walking through the world's largest shopping centre in a bikini.

The woman was buying clothes and gifts in the Dubai Mall, fully dressed but in a low-cut top, when she was accosted by an Arabic woman and criticised for wearing 'revealing clothing'.

The pair then became embroiled in a heated row in front of hundreds of bemused shoppers.

Incensed by the Arabic woman's comments, the British woman told her to 'mind her own business' before stripping out of her clothes and 'taunting' the locals by walking around in only her bikini, it is alleged.

Imagine the scene - accosted by an Arabic woman and criticized for wearing 'revealing clothing.' I can't imaging a more backwards culture. And to imagine as well that this story comes out of 'reformed' Dubai (in the United Arab Emirates) that the left (not to mention neo conservatives) love to hold up as an example of a great 'reformed' muslim society.

It gets better though.

The woman, whose identity is unknown, was still being questioned by officers in Bur Dubai police station last night.

A source within Dubai police said: 'The British woman was wearing a very low top and most of her legs were on display.

Indeed, that is quite an infraction and now that I know this, this story makes so much more sense. After all we are talking *potential* midriff exposure and 'most of her legs' too. Oh the humanity!

I like what this commenter out of Glasgow had to say:

Now let me fully understand this one! The DM article said that 'The Arabic woman stopped to criticise her for wearing a low cut top.'
Its funny that when these Islamic woman insist in wearing THEIR chosen clothes and complain about OUR attitude towards them in BRITAIN they get away with it, in fact our government is even prepared to make allowances for these Islamic men and women so that they can continue wearing the burkha and behaving how they choose. Perhaps DC should look very carefully at what goes on and how British people get treated in Islamic countries instead of being so Politically Correct to Muslims here in the UK.

Or this:

One can hardly respect the "culture" of a people whose application of the law is based on which ancient religion a defendant follows, and whose physical infrustructure is maintained by slave workers from the third world.

There is nothing to respect, sorry Pip.
This too:

Prepare for an outpouring of complete silent indifference from all those who leap to defend a woman's 'right' to wear a burkha in the West, yet strangely seem to think that any other culture, nation or set of norms and laws are to be 'respected'.

Like many things in our wonderful, globalised multi- culti world, things only seem to work one way.

And I agree the most with:

You should see California!!!

Yes, you should see California, as recent as a decade or two ago it was the envy of the world both in it's economy and people - now it is close to a third world nation.

A clearly jailable offense.

Via Memeorandum.

  1. "Bikini" can refer to a style of pantie, not just a swimsuit. I read the Daily Mail article, and I don't think it's saying she stripped down to a 2-piece swimsuit. I think it's saying she stripped down to only her underpants, which would get you arrested in most malls in the U.S. as well.

  2. Too funny! Stripping down to bikini underpants in public takes more cojones than I have!

Also, what's that man doing in a swimsuit top? He doesn't look like he has enough to fill a thimble. He looks strange.

  3. "now it is close to a third world nation"
    In more ways than one!

  4. maha, how sick and perverted this country has become, a woman or even a girl could stripe to her undies and nobody would really notice given how they dress already. You're considering the reactions by the Muzzies as normal when in fact they'll go ballastic if you show your face, so who really knows.

  5. I just came across this blog and found it very interesting indeed. Thanks for sharing.
