Could Governor Rick Perry take this skill with him to Washington? With words and ideas, of course - instead of bullets. Look out, Wily Coyote:

AUSTIN, Texas -- Pistol-packing Texas Gov. Rick Perry has a message for wily coyotes out there: Don't mess with my dog.

Perry told The Associated Press on Tuesday he needed just one shot from the laser-sighted pistol he sometimes carries while jogging to take down a coyote that menaced his puppy during a February run near Austin.

The first thing I thought after reading this was, 'I wonder what caliber the pistol was.' WaPo fills us in:
Perry said he will carry his .380 Ruger - loaded with hollow-point bullets - when jogging on trails because he is afraid of snakes. He'd also seen coyotes in the undeveloped area.
He's a good shot, that's a very small pistol:

  2. Those little mouseguns are surprisingly accurate...and SO easy to conceal. :-)

  3. That's what I always carry! Only mine is a Keltec. The Keltec was a little cheaper. I even carry mine to church, the grocery store, everywhere. There are no target rich environments when I'm around. :) And, yeah, I'm a good shot too.

  4. I could make a comment on how better use his skills could be made in Washington, but I don't want DHS knocking (or is that breaking down?) my door and listing me an enemy combatant since I'm not a Muslim. This demonstrate the need for the 2nd admendment. I wonder if the left will use it to demean the admendment as it's repealment would mean one less conservative in the world and one better fed wolf? I wonder what hate mail he's going to get from PETA over this (yea, he saved the dog, but a human lived while a coyote died). The fact he can shoot that little thing so accurately is quite impressive. I have a hard enough time at the range with a 9mm semi.
