I want to talk about me, me, ME! Marc Ambinder at the Atlantic is the most recent example of how the MSM is the MSMs worst enemy

By Conservative Generation for Left Coast Rebel

The petulant, child-man/child-woman, main stream media is busy kicking and screaming these days and Marc Ambinder identified himself as one with the ranks of complainers in today's piece.  He writes:

Can anyone deny that the most trenchant and effective criticism of President Obama today comes not from the right but from the left? Rachel Maddow's grilling of administration economic officials. Keith Olbermann's hectoring of Democratic leaders on the public option. Glenn Greenwald's criticisms of Elena Kagan. Ezra Klein and Jonathan Cohn's keepin'-them-honest perspectives on health care. The civil libertarian left on detainees and Gitmo. The Huffington Post on derivatives.

…….

I think this sensibility is pervasive throughout the smart media -- old and new. I think it's one reason why, say, Jake Tapper and other good reporters are very keen about direct fact-challenging -- why the media is reasserting itself as gatekeepers. (CNN might want to think about branding themselves here, even at the risk (well, the reality) of calling out Republicans more.) I think it's because there's so much misinformation out there -- most of it spread by the conservative echo-chamber. With the advent of Fox News and the power of that echo-chamber, complaints about liberal media bias are quite irrelevant -- the reaction to it being like lupus's reaction to the body, as Jon Stewart correctly noted.

Let's put aside the ridiculousness of asserting Jon Stewart, a liberal comedian of a comedy news program, as the hallmark of the "smart-thinking reporters of today's media."  Heck, we'll even step around Marc's naked disregard for objective journalism by requesting that reporters single out the GOP as the political group in need of media scolding, even while his colleagues are brazenly laying down for some Obama hand stroking.  In true proof of our civility, I'll not point out that only the far leftwing nuts like Marc Ambinder, care what Olberman, Rachel Maddow, Ezra Klein and Glen Greenwald have to say, which is why Marc is so compelled to listen and take heed when these left-wing hacks toe the line with the administration.  Instead, we'll go straight to Marc's complaint.

You see by his conclusion that his thesis, "conservatives are out of their minds," is not the true meme in his piece today.  It's just a little patronizing to help Marc cope with the reality of his profession.  Otherwise, he would have filled his 500 word diatribe with blistering examples of how unhinged it is to call Obama a socialist or something to that effect.

No, Marc's real problem is the startling fact that he and his ilk no longer control the blessed news cycle.  Like a child he and the MSM endlessly whine, "I want to talk about torture in gitmo, not socialism;"  "I want to talk about evil bankers, not evil bureaucracy;"  "I want to talk about what I want to talk about and I'm sick of talking about anything else."  Hence the solution, "reassert MSM as information gatekeepers."  In fact, "give it to the GOP twice as hard as we normally do, then maybe we can get back to talking about what we want to talk about."

It must really burn Marc up to still be reading about all those unfortunate truths coming out of the media regarding Obama's Health Care overhaul two weeks after the MSM and the White House declared that it was time to move on.  Articles in the AP like this, "Report says health care will cover more, cost more." What torture it must be for Marc to see articles like this go viral with the machinery of the "right-wing echo chamber."

This media narcissism exemplified by Marc Ambinder is really a problem for the media not the reader and certainly not conservatives.  This elitist notion that the world must discuss what the liberal writers want to discuss is the precise reason why many flock to Fox News and talk radio, which in turn forces the liberal writers to have to discuss what a majority of people do want to talk about, although far too late to have any resonance to the public.  You can't expect media consumers to pay money to the bloated media gods for second hand information

It is the thousand pound gorilla in the room; it is the flushing sound of MSM circling the drain; the pathetic sobbing of a chided adolescent media hack; it is the unrepentant anger of an elitist media that refuses to reinstate its once vaunted role as the fourth estate.  So you have no excuse when models such as Fox News and talk radio come infringing on your social importance in American Politics.  You want to go back to influencing the news cycle?  Try out-scooping Fox News for a change.

  3. Well said LCR. We the "fly over populace" are far more educated and far less naive than the MSM (aka NYT and etc) thinks. There is no way we will accept a Gate Keeper. That term in and of itself with respect to a free press in this country is an oxymoron. Marc the Actual Moron needs to realize such.

p.s. I'm trying hard to not label or make derogatory comments regarding people, but as you can see, I'm not being very successful. Marc is a moron.
