NY Times admits that health care reform was about socialism

If there is anything beneficial about Obama’s political victories, it is that the machinery of the left has become overconfident. Instead of lurking behind their shadowy pillars of self-proclaimed centrism, the leftist political activists in the media step into the light and expose themselves whenever they believe that you are too powerless to do anything about it. The passage of Obamacare was no exception.

The NY Times revealed today the true purpose of Obama’s health care reform and it had nothing to do with providing better health care to America. David Leonhardt writes:

Nearly every major aspect of the health bill pushes in the other direction. This fact helps explain why Mr. Obama was willing to spend so much political capital on the issue, even though it did not appear to be his top priority as a presidential candidate. Beyond the health reform’s effect on the medical system, it is the centerpiece of his deliberate effort to end what historians have called the age of Reagan.

That’s right! Health care passage was just to satisfy a twenty year, leftist grudge against former President Reagan. Petty huh? He also admits that the bill's purpose was to create a new entitlement and push the middle class onto the welfare health care program, Medicaid:

“Those without insurance in this group will become eligible to receive subsidies or to join Medicaid. (Many of the poor are already covered by Medicaid.) Insurance costs are also likely to drop for higher-income workers at small companies.”

Take note that yes, the poor already had health insurance. The bill was not about getting the poor insurance. It is about pushing the middle class into subsistence and not about cost as the media had portrayed the legislation:

“healthy families will be picking up most of the bill — and their insurance will be somewhat more expensive than it otherwise would have been.”

As we become activists and protest the government that will be forcing upon us, by edict, their vision for how the citizenry should live their lives, please don’t forget to protest the government’s media accomplices. It is a step we often forget when we fill up town hall meetings. When the media is out selling the cheap used-car-salesman pitches of a President and congress determined to change the role of government in this country, call them on it. Write the authors. Write the editors. Demand that they report more than the taking points. For too long we have let them pontificate from a veil of anonymity without consequence. The cost of our neglect has been devastating.

If you need an example of calling out the media, see Jim Hoft’s piece today at Gateway Pundit. I love it when the truth comes to light. Doubtful that MM will be updating any of their unsubstantiated accusations.
