Jim Bunning Holds his Ground and the Left Wing Government/Media Complex Screams

by the Left Coast Rebel

Senator Bunning is the victim of a massive logjam leftist pileup today and yesterday for standing his ground rationally on government spending. Essentially he is holding ground on 11 billion in unemployment spending and Medicare reimbursement simply stating that we need to pay for just that spending. In the most basic sense, he is holding Obama and the socialist-left in Congress to their own credo - PAYGO, passed just last month. The Democrat/Media/Industrial complex have all gotten together in a massive orgy to paint Bunning as an extremist and someone that 'wants to take the food out from the mouths of the unemployed'. This issue simply proves to me that we need smart, tough, intellectually based conservatives/libertarians in power coming up to bring this government back to fiscal sanity.

Rational Nation
nails the essence of the issue with Bunning:

Senator Bunning's position is this; rather than adding an additional ten billion to the deficit we use money from the yet unused portion of the massive "economic recovery package" enacted last year. However, and as expected, the Democrats refused consideration of this commonsense and fiscally sound approach to controlling the deficit.

It seems as our nations productive work force continues to struggle to survive... the very "party of the working man/women" is against rational initiatives that help reign in our greatest excesses that will ultimately lead to our economic collapse.
The Humble Libertarian makes a great point as well:
1) Bunning is right. Jim Bunning's reason for blocking the extension of unemployment benefits is absolutely well-founded. He is asking the question we should ask of every appropriation: where is the money coming from to pay for it?

He doesn't oppose the unemployment extension, he is simply insisting that we pay for it with unspent money from 2008's appalling financial bailout package- money that would go to financial corporations if we don't give it to struggling Americans like Bunning suggests. Really terrible of him, huh?

Via Memeorandum, here and here.

I want to know why Claire McCaskill, who just introduced PayGo legislation, is attacking Senator Bunning for his PayGo effort. I'm waiting Claire...

I Heard about that on Rush yesterday morning. Isn't it interesting that whenever the Dems hold power the rules never seem to apply to them?

Dan Milbank wrote an entire column in the WaPo today about crazy ole Jim without once mentioning PAYGO or the fact Obama was just scolding Congress for profligate spending (OK, he was scolding Bush). It's a shining example of how the Democrats never really mean anything they say. Just symbolism over substance.
