For the most part, the Left Coast Rebel has avoided the Eric Massa affair(s) circling the political waters. Conservative Generation (writing for LCR) offered up some great material but for the other LCR half, the Massa story offered no fascination. Perhaps for, I guess, the 'naked Rahm' shower incident. Now that is frightening. Dan Rather mentioning watermelons and Obama? Love it. Eric Massa's fetishes? Not so much.
I am dragged into the affair, regardless - right after the end. Today an Atlantic writer claims to have been sitting on a tip that Massa pulled a YMCA, in the navy. It's complicated, it's convoluted, it's sultry (and disgusting, I was not privy to what 'snorkeling' was and wish I wasn't) - but this Atlantic writer sat on this tip for years. Hmm. Apparently this Navy behavior was part of Massa's resignation urgency. I agree with a note from C-Gen this evening, it's amazing that the press started digging up stuff on Massa 6 days after his alleged ethics probe and 4 years after running for Congress. Do you not see how the press actually aids and abets much of the corruption and malfeasance in our politics today?As the nation turns into a banana republic, unbelievable headlines are offered up, at least.
The meat and potatoes comes right at the end the Atlantic column, however: 'Massa announced on Friday that he would resign from Congress. That announcement came shortly after the House Ethics Committee had been notified of Massa's behavior in the Navy'.

There is way more to this story than is being let on. Congressmen don't resign over little things like bad, drunken jokes and tickle fights.
