Obama Breaking a Campaign Pledge: Obama to Raise Taxes on the Middle Class Through the Backdoor UPDATED for Accuracy

Hope and Change had such a nice ring to it, didn't it? And without specifics it's no wonder Americans fell for the platitudes, free lunch and all. In San Diego, one of the biggest reasons that the county went for Obama was that voters here believed that Obama was going to cut their taxes and they simply did not belive the same about McCain. Yes, you read that right. San Diego voters believed that Obama presented a better argument on the tax front than RINO McCain did. I am sure that this theme was repeated across the country, far and wide.

Like all of Obama's promises, the 'middle class tax pledge' (a promise to not raise taxes on middle class Americans) is a bucket-full of lies. Even the Reuters is picking up on this:

The Obama administration's plan to cut more than $1 trillion from the deficit over the next decade relies heavily on so-called backdoor tax increases that will result in a bigger tax bill for middle-class families.

In the 2010 budget tabled by President Barack Obama on Monday, the White House wants to let billions of dollars in tax breaks expire by the end of the year -- effectively a tax hike by stealth.

While the administration is focusing its proposal on eliminating tax breaks for individuals who earn $250,000 a year or more, middle-class families will face a slew of these backdoor increases.

But lower-income families will pay more as well: the 25 percent tax bracket will revert back to 28 percent; the 28 percent bracket will increase to 31 percent; and the 33 percent bracket will increase to 36 percent. The special 10 percent bracket is eliminated.

Millions of middle-class households already may be facing higher taxes in 2010 because Congress has failed to extend tax breaks that expired on January 1, most notably a "patch" that limited the impact of the alternative minimum tax.

Socialism You Can Believe in. Middle class tax hikes across the board. Where will people be when they realize the charade?

UPDATE: Due to my integrity and honesty, I am finding that it seems that the Reuters story was false in several assumptions and it has been pulled due to that. My subsequent posts were a dead end as well. I smelled a rat from the White House but it ended up being less. Imagine if the socialist left that controls so much debate and discourse were so honest in this country, to our detriment, they are not.
