I awoke this morning to news that Ben Nelson has 'caved', (caved being not quite accurate, did anyone think that he wouldn't?), and that passage of the health care 'reform' bill in the Senate now seems likely. How many millions, if not billions did it take to coerce his vote? Via Memeorandum, WaPo:
Disgusting, enraging, maddening. Ben Nelson is a whore, a caricature, a buffoon and a disgrace.Via Google TrendsNelson secured full federal funding for his state to expand Medicaid coverage to all individuals below 133 percent of the federal poverty level. Other states must pay a small portion of the additional cost. He won concessions for qualifying nonprofit insurers and for Medigap providers from a new insurance tax. He also was able to roll back cuts to health savings accounts.
"I know this is hard for some of my colleagues to accept and I appreciate their right to disagree," Nelson told reporters at the Capitol, of the many changes made at his behest. "But I would not have voted for this bill without these provisions."
UPDATE: The Democrats are panicked, they are forcing a vote and haven't even read the damn bill. A sheer disgrace for our democratic republic. How about this? I missed this little snippet in the WaPo:
Democratic leaders spent days trying to hammer out a deal with Nelson, and worked late Friday night with Nelson on abortion coverage language that had proved the major stumbling block. But Nelson also secured other favors for his home state.
Suicide. And not just for Nelson, rather for Nelson and Company. 67% of Corn Huskers don't want Obamacare in Nelson's state. Are you listening Dems? We are coming after you. Saberpoint nails it in a simple conclusion:
The Senate GOP leadership has this video out:At this point conservatives should worry less about kicking the Democrats out in
2010 than in how to either nullify the Democrats' new socialist laws or secede from the union.
It's time.
Now mind you I would not solicit most of these beltway types. McConell? McCain? It is nauseating. This is a great rallying cry video but frankly WTF do we do?
