There are mind bogglingly myriad details with the health care 'reform' bill in the Senate. What is clear is that Harry Reid is intent on forcing a vote on Christmas Eve. Yes, you read that right, the night before Christmas. In what is fitting for a Democrat-Banana-Republic, the chillrens of America will be sleeping and excited to wake soon to open their presents and the 'leaders' of Congress, (Senate), will be secretly forcing a vote on the most hideous and disastrous wasteful steaming pile of dung legislation in American history. Are you listening Nevada voters? Are you proud of your man? Are you listening America?
The silver lining of this, if there is one; is that Jim DeMint is pulling out the punches to delay this outrage. The Hill writes:
But DeMint (R-S.C.), chairman of the Senate Republican Steering Committee and a leader of the conservative opposition, told The Hill he will not yield back any time. And all of this legalese and politik just makes me sick. Frankly these miscreants in a just world would be facing harsh interrogation in a court of their peers or better, (read the American public). If it were only so. Can you even imagine what our Founding Fathers would think of this stuff? Here are a couple of comments from The Hill story that caught my eye:
DeMint also said he would force the Senate to return to Washington after Christmas to vote on a $290 billion increase to the federal debt limit. Treasury officials told lawmakers that they need an increase of borrowing authority to keep the government solvent beyond Dec. 31.
“I’m not going to waive any time,” DeMint said in an interview, when asked whether he would force Reid to go late into Christmas Eve to pass health care legislation. “I think it’s our responsibility to stretch this out because every day we do we have time to tell Americans what’s in it."
Why are so many people so blind? Dirty Harry has been extorting, twisting arms, bribing (with my tax dollars), and otherwise coercing votes for this private pile of steaming crap that NOBODY knows the contents of. If it doesn't start until 2014 what's the rush? Could it be they KNOW it doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell of passing if it gets pushed into the election year! If people actually get a chance to be even slightly informed, they know it would never fly. Yet they keep spending like we have money. Obama and his cabal have bankrupted this country and are selling us out with borrowed money! Now, on top of this $2.5 trillion turkey, Hilary is out promising we will spend $100 Billion EACH YEAR for the global warming hoax! These morons all need to go to jail!
We are now officially a banana republic. At stake is the most significant piece of legislation in recent history and the Democrats are treating it as a game. The only point of the game is to pass it by Christmas — no matter that no one has seen the final bill, much less digested or understood it. If it's such a good bill, it will be just as good if it is passed in January or February or March, and probably better if it has the benefit of further deliberation. But no, the game is pin the tail on the donkey by Christmas, or else. Or else, what? What a farce this has become. We're giving banana republics a bad name.
I couldn't agree more. The chasm between Main Street and the political class is now a distance of incomprehensible magnitude.

Why are they voting on it on a national holiday? Is it because it will be harder to get opponents to be present for the vote?

I bought services from the healthcare "system" just today.
The very fact that they call my handing someone money in exchange for a service a "system" is a sign they're out of touch.
@ CJ - Thanks for sharing that, a great story. I hope your child feels better soon and I appreciate your honesty. And yes, they are completely out of touch, as were many in the admin of GW, for different reasons, it won't be until honest Americans, like you and I, hold them accountable that we stop this madness.
These statists are really maddening. I am glad for one thing, though. They are now showing their true colors. Nobody will be able to deny how awful they are after this.
Statism has been around for ever. It's like a disease for which a cure can't seem to be found because it keeps morphing into different strains.
Makes one wonder. We'll be fighting this for decades, and centuries to come.
"Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutly." Could we be ever nearing the latter?
I'm planning to help who ever runs against Harry Reid next year. Nevada is only 30 miles away.
