My wife told me this morning, right before lunch that actress Brittany Murphy had died of cardiac arrest this morning. She is best known for her performance in '8 Mile' and 'Clueless'. I think of her when I think of the movie 'Just Married' with Ashton Kutcher. Yes, I admit it, big tough ol' LCR has an affinity for chick-flicks, (at least with my wife).The story goes that Brittany's mother discovered her in the shower unconscious and by the time paramedics had arrived and administered CPR it was too late.
Knowing so little about the story and being away from the net I immediately came to several possible conclusions. Was it drug related? Perhaps she had an eating disorder as well? Knowing that anorexia can cause severe damage to the heart as can drug abuse. I also considered that she may have had a heart defect of some sort. These two things are distinct possibilities but complete conjecture on my part but judging by how young she was, (32), it is what I thought.
Of course we may not know for some time, (if ever), if Brittany Murphy was anorexic or had an eating disorder. But the potent possibility just points to the corruption of Hollywood in it's constant portrayal of the anorexic waif female figure ideal. Knowing that she was quite thin and living the high stress Hollywood lifestyle, who knows.
So for now I can tell you that it is an incredibly sad story of someone passing far before their prime. More details to come as they become available.
