SNL Obama Skit, SNL Sarah Palin Presidency: 2012

by the Left Coast Rebel

This just in from the Saturday Night Live 2 days ago. This is funny stuff, it truly is. To see Chinese President Hu Jintao imply without subtlety that which Barack Obama is trying to do economically to America and Chinese American investments, (dollar, etc) is beyond humor. To see him do the proverbial grab the ankles and bend over is over the top.

Analysis of the skit: It's a roar. The Chinese President refusing to take payment in Clunkers is simply on queue. Brilliant. There's miles to go however with the whole bunch at SNL, John Stewart, et al. Recall how they ceaselessly treated George W. Bush? Perhaps more of the entertainment intelligensic types can see the storm that is brewing. That this guy, the big 'O' is just as incompetent as the other guy was and is sensed so by the public. Perhaps the new outreach of humor that we are starting to see represents that. Perhaps it represents more.

The most surprising thing about the SNL Obama skit? It's substantive.

After all the best humor has at least a hint of truth to it too, right? Note in the skit the incessant poke at B-O's reckless fiscal incompetence. The Chinese leader scoffs at the notion of creating another entitlement of health care on top of our mounting debt and shattered economy. It's not a sane thing to do. Asian Apology Tour redux? You bet.

Call it perhaps a little bit of even-hand though. The same SNL show featured a Sarah Palin-spin of the film 2012. It's the end of the world as we know it. And Palin is presiding over the country! However you will note that even this little comedy does seem to poke fun at liberals and Palin Derangement as the film is brought to you by the DNC and Keith Olbermann. See who the VP is? Too funny.....

  1. Thanks for putting up both those clips. Seems like the writers at SNL are getting a bit braver these days. Hell they were pretty brave last year with the Pelosi/Frank/Soros/Sandlers piece. As you know, that one got yanked hard and fast. I suppose it was the pantywaist "Suits" up the chain of command who lost the staring contest with the Sandlers' counsel.

  2. Jintao: What did you do with our money?
    Obama: We bought clunkers.
Jintao: You paid thousands for junky cars? We have a lot of poor people in my country who could use a clunker. What did you do with the clunkers you bought?
Obama: We burnt up their motors by running them with sand in the oil.

  3. Thanks LCR, I appreciate the new look at the Sarah Palin 2012 parody. I saw these Saturday night and was silently outraged at the latter. But you're right, those are subtleties I did not pick up on. It's good to laugh again. Ha ha ha ha ha ha!

  4. I liked the clip except for the, shall we say "suggestive bits". But, it's SNL....

I wonder if CNN will fact check this one.

  5. @ Libertarian Adv - Yes indeed, I have that yanked vid in my 'secret file'. I love both of these parodies.

@ CJ - The irony doesn't escape me either my friend. I know that you were a big Clunkers foe as was I. Bad legislation has no bounds these days.

@ Goddess - Yes, I'm sorry, I should have mentioned that before hand, I apologize! I wonder if CNN will fact check it as well, I wouldn't count it out.

  6. @ Steve - Sorry missed you here! You are right, the Palin jab is funny in context of the subtleties. Nice to see you here again!
