Tonight I am reading a simply brilliant opinion piece in the Journal. It hits on so many levels to the truth of eltism of orthodox liberalism; it's inherent religiosity. Truth to power, John Steele Gordon:
Valerie Jarrett, senior adviser to President Barack Obama, recently explained
the White House war on Fox News as an example of "speaking truth to power." Much of the American political world collapsed in laughter, pointing out that her
boss was president of the United States, the most powerful man on earth. His
every word is news around the world. Fox News is a cable channel rarely watched
by more than a few million people at a time. How could she have so blithely said
something completely out-of-sync with reality?Simple: She's a liberal.
As a liberal she carries around in her head the liberal paradigm of how the
world works and what needs to be done to make it work better. There's nothing
wrong with that. We all use paradigms to make sense of what we see around us and couldn't get along without them. Unfortunately, the basic liberal paradigm
hasn't shifted in a hundred years, while the world we live in has changed
utterly since the late 19th century, when modern liberalism was born.
Read the rest here, it only gets better.

Good morning to the smart folks on the Left Coast! (and elsewhere)
ReplyDeleteWe are fortunate to have Rep. Michele Bachmann, Republican • 6th District, Minnesota willing to stick her neck out for all of US. Today at High Noon (ET) she will lead a protest on the Capital steps with Jon Voight, Mark Levin and maybe others. I am very close and could be there in about 2 hours but making money is real important right now. In my absence I WILL call my Congressman and ask if he will go out to the the Capital steps and support this courageous lady who, by the end of the day, will be cursed and mocked by the left. Help her help us! Call your Representative! If they won't publicly support her lets post it here. I don't care what side of the isle they are on!

The majority of American families now lived at a level of affluence and financial security known only to a few in the early 20th century.
ReplyDeleteThe liberal revolution of the middle third of that century was, in short, one of the greatest—and most peaceful—political triumphs in history. And because of it, most of the sheep are now more than able to look out for themselves, having the means and education to do so. The wolves have been fitted for electric collars that largely keep them from straying into the wrong fold.
Now if only someone would tell the shepherds about their own success. -- From the piece sited in the post, emphasis added
I agree with this. I don't think we've achieved utopia, but society made huge progress in the last century. As this WSJ piece says, part of that progress was thanks to liberals.
I don't know why the Obama official made the "truth to power" comment. Maybe it was the reasons stated in this article.
This is the exact reason why I stopped listening to Democracy Now. Their attitude is that there have always been oppressed people, and it's not getting any better. That's just false. It's getting a lot better. It seems like you have to admit that before moving forward and making further improvements.
This is classic progressive strategy: play the victim while attacking ruthlessly from a position of power. Miserable animals....
ReplyDeleteBack again from VA,
ReplyDeleteUpdate from this morning. Though Congressman Goodlatte's office didn't call me back, I given a kind apology and told that he did support Congresswoman Bachmann today on the Capital steps. I called AARP to ask about their position since their website said one thing and AP said another. Here is what I feel about AARP! I was lied to this morning by the lady who answered the phone at AARP. Maybe it was a boilerplate answer but either way, it was a LIE! Within hours after being told she didn't know, AARP announced their support. I ask anyone who has an AARP card to do as I am. Cut up your card, scan it, post it on your FB page and send it back with a note you see fit. AARP boasts of 40 million members and they show up today with, "1.5 million member petitions supporting healthcare reform." A pretty small number to decide to support this junk. Good bye AARP!
@ CJ - I thought the article was immensely fasniting and refreshing. I'm glad that you noted what you did, I agree.
ReplyDelete@ Candle - Indee, and it is the political hierarchy that is playing this game.
@ Classicrider - Thank you for your words here, I posted what you said here about the AARP, they need to be called out on actions like this!
