I haven't written on the 'global warming email' story. As I'm sure that you know by now a top global warming institution's database was hacked and tons of data was released that allegedly show the Universtiy of East Anglia Climate Research Unit to have engaged in massive wholesale fraud. I didn't delve deeply into the topic nor the emails as I was too busy with Obamacare stuff. Unlike some in the blogosphere, I frankly wasn't salivating to discuss either. Much of the global warming stuff frankly just makes my eyes glaze over. I'm no scientist, that's for sure. But I am politically a skeptic of the notion. I think that it is a ruse of the far-left to gain absolute control. I'll leave it at that.
I've come around to talking about this via a Viscount Monckton Pajamas Media exclusive released today on the topic. He's convinced, to say the least that the email hack incident proves his many assertions over the years as a preeminent global warming skeptic. Here are some excerpts of what Monckton has to say:
This is what they did — these climate “scientists” on whose unsupported word the world’s classe politique proposes to set up an unelected global government this December in Copenhagen, with vast and unprecedented powers to control all formerly free markets, to tax wealthy nations and all of their financial transactions, to regulate the economic and environmental affairs of all nations, and to confiscate and extinguish all patent and intellectual property rights.
Worse, these arrogant fraudsters — for fraudsters are what we now know them to be — have refused, for years and years and years, to reveal their data and their computer program listings. Now we know why: As a revealing 15,000-line document from the computer division at the Climate Research Unit shows, the programs and data are a hopeless, tangled mess.
Finally, these huckstering snake-oil salesmen and “global warming” profiteers — for that is what they are — have written to each other encouraging the destruction of data that had been lawfully requested under the Freedom of Information Act in the UK by scientists who wanted to check whether their global temperature record had
been properly compiled. And that procurement of data destruction.....

scientists..more like charlatans my friend!:)
My feelings are like yours. It is possible that climate change is due to man, but at the same time there is a lot of money to made by some to keep pushing this.
I recently did a post on this topic. A report regarding the glaciers of the Himalayas has found that the data doesn't support the mantra from the UN.
Before we completely change the worldwide economy all the data should be looked at.
As you well know, I'm a skeptic, but not necessarily a naysayer. However, I think the emails expose what AGW is. A little bit of science and potential theory, with a whole lot of marketing.
It is tragic what passes as science these days.
I didn't read the whole thing, but I saw more stuff about "global warming profiteers". Most of the world economy runs on burning fuel which contributes to global warming. So trillions of dollars of economic activity contributes to global warming, and you think self-interest makes people overly concerned about the environment? Immediate self interest is in favor of denying the problem. If the science is flawed and influenced by patronage instead of the unbiased pursuit of truth, then the bias should be in favor of denying the problem.
I think you would sound reasonable to say "Trillions of dollars is at stake, so if there's bias it's in favor of understating the problem. OTOH, trillions are a lot of value, and it's hard to predict whether activities aimed at reducing global warming will reduce its costs to society by more than the value of the forgone production due to the drain on GDP growth." I would argue that GDP does not have to be tied to CO2 as much as it has been since the industrial revolution. We would have an intelligent disagreement. Just out and out denial of the facts, though, and arguing there's political pressure to get to an answer no one's happy about make you come off as idiots IMHO.
I'm thinking Al Gore needs to give that peace prize back....
Thanks for posting this LCR. It hit me like a ton o' melting ice! Linked you. Goes way beyond an isolated SNAFU.
Lord Monckton is a very articulate critic. He has a standing debate challenge to Reverend Al Gore, which of course will never be accepted.
I blogged on this because I want to help spread the word, but I don't expect this to shake the true believers.
@ CJ - I disagree with the premise, ie faith of global warming hysteria. In the 1970s it was all the rage to cite 'the coming ice age' and the destruction of mankind. Today's mamia is no different. Like C-Gen below, I am a skeptic but not a naysayer. If we are to dismantle our way of life and freedoms for a cause so wraught with fraud and mania then I need a lot more than what is offered today as discussion. As a free thinker that reject fanaticism both religious and secular, it that makes me an idiot then and idiot be I.
@ Goddes - You deserve a Peace Prize more than he does. So do I! LOL
@ Justaconsgirl - I saw the post that you mention and it was great. I totally agree that there is so much money involved that it skews the actualy issues....
@ C-gen - Totally agree, it is tragic what passes for science, knowledge, reason and wisdom these days.
@ Womanhonor - Yup!
@ Ran - Thanks for the link, that was a great piece you put up too, I'll Update my post with a link back to it....
