Nidal Malik Hasan Residency Jihad Lecture: Warning Signs

Stress driving US army doctors to despair, says veteran

by the Left Coast Rebel

Frankly the Fort Hood shooting/massacre domestic terrorism case, (because it is just that), gets increasingly more disturbing as more details trickle in. It's not the horrific details of the shooting itself, (God bless the fallen and rest in peace); it is the absolute, unabated, resolute failure of all branches of law and government personnel in preemptively approaching/stopping Hasan.

Today from the Washington Post:

The Army psychiatrist believed to have killed 13 people at Fort Hood warned a roomful of senior Army physicians a year and a half ago that to avoid "adverse events," the military should allow Muslim soldiers to be released as conscientious objectors instead of fighting in wars against other Muslims.

Nidal M. Hasan was supposed to make a presentation on a medical topic of his choosing as a culminating exercise of the residency program.

Instead, in late June 2007, he stood before his supervisors and about 25 other mental health staff members and lectured on Islam, suicide bombers and threats the military could encounter from Muslims conflicted about fighting in the Muslim countries of Iraq and Afghanistan

Hasan's presentation lasted about an hour........

Under a slide titled "Comments,"
he wrote: "If Muslim groups can convince
Muslims that they are fighting for God against injustices of the 'infidels'; ie: enemies of Islam, then Muslims can become a potent adversary ie: suicide bombing, etc." [sic]

The last bullet point on that page reads simply: "We love death more then
[sic] you love life!"

Under the "Conclusions" page, Hasan wrote that "Fighting to establish an
Islamic State to please God, even by force, is condoned by the Islam,"
and that "Muslim Soldiers should not serve in any capacity that renders them at risk to hurting/killing believers unjustly -- will vary!"

The final page, labeled "Recommendation," contained only one suggestion:

"Department of Defense should allow Muslims [sic] Soldiers the option of
being released as 'Conscientious objectors' to increase troop morale and
decrease adverse events."

So let's get this straight, seeing as I can speak my mind here without fear of the P.C. Police. Hasan lectured fellow medical staff, supervisors, etc, obviously pointing to Jihad in the worst and spooky stuff in the least. In 2007. And nothing was done. How many signs did the military and any other law authority need to see the threat from this man.

13 dead, that's how many.

What does this tell us about the Political-Correct-Caricaturization of the 'Theater' in Afghanistan? Can we not see the end-result of what we are doing in this country? How many lives right now are at risk due to politically-correct hand-wringing? Political correctness is national suicide.

UPDATE: WaPo has obtained the lecture described above in it's entirety, here.

He was a Major in the United States Army, he had been in the Army since before 2001 so at least 9 years. He was living in an Apt that is stated to have cost him around #300.00 a month. As a Major in the United States Army, he was probably pulling down 6 figures....so wheres the money, and why was he living so modestly? BHA for an Army Major is much more than $300.00 and something a month.

Somebody needs to check, his rank is Major and time in service over 9 years? He had no dependents, he wasn't poor. Was this his way of not sticking out blending in? He didn't wear a beard, there is an Al Qeada handbook somebody should check and see if he had a copy.

He took extra lessons with fire arms that wouldn't necessarily be in line with his MOS - Army Psychiatrist.

They were interested in Flying but they didn't want to learn how to take off or land...He took extra lessons with fire arms although it had nothing to do with his Army Classification as a Psychiatrist...look familiar? He attended the same Mosque as two of the 9/11 hijackers.

The details that are coming out are making me ask: #1 how competent is the leadership in this country especially in protecting the country.

#2 why did this guy have so much influence in the army including serving on a Homeland Security transition team for the Obama administration.

Without sounding like a conspiracy, it reminds me of what the great Milton Friedman said. A leader has nine months to get the people behind him. If they aren't behind him in nine months, they must use power to get the people behind them.

This seems to be more evidence of big bureaucracies being ineffective. Handing over our own personal security (or any other liberty or responsibility) and/or expecting it from a big bureaucracy is not rational or realistic. The murderer fell through the cracks. He wasn't the first and won't be the last.

Also, I believe one of the Soldiers was also pregnant so actually he ended 14 lives that day. My prayers and gratitude to all for their sacrifice.

I wonder if there's any chance they could wheel him over to the prison in Virginia tonight and hook him up to the slow drip after they give the DC Sniper his jolt?

..I mean as long as we're at it, probably save a lot of dough, time, and trouble.

@ Keyboard Jockey - And we are left to connect these dots because the press will not. Eerily similiar to 9/11.

@ BB - Our leadership is not competent, boy do I agree with the 9 month thing too.

@ Mo - Indeed it doesn the military is not immune to that aspect of bureaucracy, in fact it is at times just as bad.

@ Boncka - I would LOVE that, popcorn anyone?

It's too bad you weren't involved in the military in a position to predict and stop the massacre. It reminds me of the VA tech shootings. It was so easy to predict, according to people reviewing the case after it happened.

@ CJ - I'm just pointing out the MASSIVE clues missed by the authorities. I shouldn't do that?
