HR 3962 Pelosicare November 7 Vote Liveblog: Scroll for Updates

by the Left Coast Rebel

I'm watching Fox News and Cspan. Joe Wilson was just on, last night he floated an amendment that would require Congress to be included. It was resoundly rejected. Of course. Hundreds of pages were added to HR 3962 in the middle of the night last as well. How about that?

There is still a lot of confusion re: today's vote. I was just watching GOP members give mini-speeches, a uniform 'no' being to the Job Killing, Medicare Cutting, Tax Raising bill - HR 3962. Go here for Reaganite's post today on criminal penalties in Pelosicare that they don't want you to know.

The One is meeting with Dem lawmakers on Capitol Hill shortly. An extremely rare 'Now or Never' move. Even more rare that this is taking place on a Saturday and may be moved to Sunday, just to make sure you aren't watching. Read WaPo's list of what to watch for today.

What To Do Right Now:

Here is a list of the udecided 41 members of the House. Get to work!
Melt the phone lines! Follow the 4-post list at the type right of my site. Hit the Capitol switchboard and urge a 'no' vote. Email the Blue Dog Caucus one more time.

UPDATE I:
I am on Cspan right now and the Obamanation is proclaiming that this vote on socialism and HC is a "once in a lifetime opportunity" and such. The House is voting on an abortion amendment, (the Stupack amendment) that would bar insurance companies participating in the government plan from offering abortions (?). The entire process today may hinge on this Stupack amendment. This provision was agreed upon late last night to appease anti-abortion Dems. Dems even got the US Conference of Catholic Bishops to sign on to HR 3962 late last night re: this key abortion amendment.

I caught this at 10:00 am PT, Rep Louise Slaughter 'D' of NY, I transcribed it:

"A culmination of nearly 100 years of work that we will join the community of nations of the people living within them are deserving of decent Health Care, regardless of their financial situation."

And there you have it, the community of nations. Nice, huh?

Michelle Malkin has the best live blog post going too. I'll be checking in there to stay up to date. Check here where I will be as well. Watch the whole scene via Cspan here.

UPDATE II:
10:45 PT, House just passed rules of debate, 4 hours of general debate coming up. This is where I am going to take the opp. and contact each of the 'squishy' 41. Do the same!

11:20 PT, The Ultimate Irony:

I just returned home from a quick errand, reps are debating back and forth on the floor, it's a party-line deal of debate, basically, 'D's saying 'the time is now' and 'R's saying that HR 3962 is an affront and a shell game of socialism. A lot of bloviation on the floor. I was thinking while driving that Pelosi and Obama must think that they have the votes on this today, although it will be close. It is no wonder that they are doing this on a Saturday as well - not a peep on the a.m. dial re: this vote today.

Here's the Irony:

My errand above was a trip to the Post Office, I had to walk a package in for Saturday delivery. There was a line of 20 people and ONE person working at the counter. ONE. Imagine when a system like the PO will represent your health care. Life and death. Patient-Doctor infringement. A state-directed power grab of 1/6 of our economy.

I couldn't help but overhear a couple talking nearby as well. They were chatting and laughing about their Friday visit to the Post Office. It wasn't an unusual trip, according to them, other than the fact that it took them over 1 hour to simply mail a package. Why?

3 of the workers that time, that day; were taking a 'smoke break' and not tending to customers.

The Federal Government in Action, Shame on our "Leaders" for Pushing Socialism Via a HC Takevoer, Shame on us If We Stand For it.

11:35 PT, Waxman was just up - gag. Boehner now up, mentioning abortion.

11:45 PT, back and forth between members. Gene Green of Texas just said that 3962 must be passed as it it the most important legislation since the 1930s, Social Security and Medicare. Anyone recall the future liabilities of both of these two programs? Debate settled.

12:20 PT, This will go on for some time now, I'll check in later for the vote and other developments. The back and forth bloviating is nauseating for me. Watching the debate makes me feel both proud of and ashamed of my counrtymen. I guess that is democracy and the struggle of the individual vs Statism and Collectivism.

1:24 PT, I just got off the phone, the DC office of my congressman. The staffer on line told me that the best way to direct our energy is to pressure the blue dogs via calling each of their offices. Once again, here is the list via Politico and here is the switchboard search site. I am calling each and every one of these folks right not, I'll keep you posted.

2:03 PT, Death of Deliberative Democracy: Malkin's new piece, just up. Malkin also put up a handy Blue Dog phone/fax line list, go get 'em!

3:00 PT Rightklik has a great post up: Obama Loves Blue Dogs.
Malkin just wrote that debate will now start on the Kabuki abortion amendment. After that there will be debate on the GOP alternative and then a late-night vote on HR 3962.

4:10 PT Bachmann making a statement, mentioning a Hawaiian couple and wearing a lei, offering a succinct 'no' on HR 3962.

What really scares the crap out of me when people point to the VA as a model for government medical efficiency.

I went to the 2nd house call today. Michele gave us passes to watch from the assembly. They only let us stay a half hour, but I get get to see Boehner and Rangel go at it.

@ Chris - Indeed, these fools are doing just that, several on the House floor have said such.

@ Consgirl - Way to go! I saw the same fight today on Cspan, great to see that.
