EPA Lawyers Ordered by Obama Administration to Take Down Anti-Cap and Trade Expose Video

by the Left Coast Rebel

How about this from the The New York Times:

The Environmental Protection Agency has directed two of its lawyers to makes changes to a YouTube video they posted that is critical of the Obama administration’s climate change policy.

The agency, citing federal policies.....told the two lawyers....if they do not edit the video to comply with the policy. The video, titled “The Huge Mistake,” was produced and posted in September. But the agency did not issue its warning until The Washington Post published a widely cited opinion article by the couple on Oct. 31 that raised concerns, echoing those in the video, about cap and trade legislation that the Obama administration supports. they could face disciplinary action.

How's that for Chicago politics? Reminiscent to me of the war against the Chamber of Commerce. Here's the video that the lawyer-couple produced:

  1. The two issues are the content of the video and whether they can make it w/o regard to the views of their employer.
    1. I disagree with the content b/c cap-and-trade is superior to strict regulations. It allows people to emit CO2 if the economic benefit of doing so justifies it. It provides incentives for others, whose activities don't justify the damage to the environment, to reduce CO2. Regulations w/ no regard for the profitability of the activity discourage productive activity. We need to assign a market price to the externalities of our activities.
BTW, I do agree w/ them that we need to ramp up nuclear and other non-CO2-emitting energy sources. I do agree w/ their carbon tax idea. All of this is important not just for the environment but to prepare for the need for alternatives as oil gets harder to extract.
    2. Can they make the video w/o representing the EPA? They frequently site their work at the EPA. They say it's a call-to-action. I can't accept your criticism of the Obama administration for making them choose between working their and producing videos that site their work there.

  2. @ CJ - The only thing I agree with you here and it's a 100% agreement - is the need for nuclear power. We need to do it NOW. France gets a majority of it's energy from nuclear, right?
