The Obama administration on Thursday failed in its attempt to exclude Fox News from participating in an interview of an administration official, as Republicans on Capitol Hill stepped up their criticism of the hardball tactics employed by the White House.
The Treasury Department on Thursday tried to make "pay czar" Kenneth Feinberg available for interviews to every member of the network pool except Fox News. The pool is the five-network rotation that for decades has shared the costs and duties of daily coverage of the presidency and other Washington institutions.
But the Washington bureau chiefs of the five TV networks consulted and decided that none of their reporters would interview Feinberg unless Fox News was included. The pool informed Treasury that Fox News, as a member of the network pool, could not be excluded from such interviews under the rules of the pool.
The administration relented, making Feinberg available for all five
pool members and Bloomberg TV.
War on Fox Continues: Pay Czar Exclusion
by the Left Coast Rebel
As I allude to in the title, the WH is still grasping at the straws with Fox, (or would that be grasping for the tail of the Fox)? Anyway, there is a mile-long thread at Memeorandum, literally half the site dedicated to different aspects of this Fox-War story.
A phrase that comes to my mind re: White House behaviour?
One - totalitarian.
Hmm, well, let't think....add banana republic governance to that, ok?
Totalitarian, Banana Republic Governance, now that has a nice little ring to it, don't you agree?
I can't believe that I am going to say this....Three Cheers for American Press!
To be honest, I come across dozens of disturbing stories every day of the socialist march in our government, the press standing idly by and seemingly nothing that we can do about it other than scream at the top of our lungs as concerned citizens losing our country in a brass-knuckles fight with totalitarian-esque thug-pols, (catching my breath).....
But this story is encouraging. The press outlets stood up to the WH thugs and stood their ground. They did the right thing. Ostensibly, I am sure for their own skins and $$$, not for free speech; but that matters not for it is a victory for free speech and transparency.
And remember liberals and progressives, this Obamanation is trying, (and succeeding) in laying the framework for totalitarian tactics that could be used against you by a right wing government one day. Remember that.....

as i commented on another blog that covered this story, now if the other sector of that first amendment would only stand up to be counted we wouldn't have this attack on religions by government either.
ReplyDelete@ Griper - I couldn't agree more....
ReplyDeleteChickaboomers got a poll up, should Roger Ailes of Fox News, run for President in 2012, there is a Glenn Beck for his VP option GRIN.
ReplyDeletepoll is in the top right hand corner.

I am impressed by the networks too. Really surprised me. They had been so leftist-partisan for so long, I forgot that they could behave in any other way.
ReplyDeleteVery good!!! [applauding] I couldn't have said it better myself.
ReplyDeleteThe current MSM better take note, Obuma won't be in power forever and what goes around, comes around. :)
@ Opus - I agree, I have to commend them, a first for me...
ReplyDelete@ Sparky - I'm applauding too....
