Michael Steele, Gresham Barrett on Obama's Nobel Peace Prize

From the Wall Street Journal I'm reading that RNC chair Steele issued a statement this morning, from that -

“The real question Americans are asking is, ‘What has President Obama actually accomplished?’ It is unfortunate that the president’s star power has outshined tireless advocates who have made real achievements working towards peace and human rights, one thing is certain – President Obama won’t be receiving any awards from Americans for job creation, fiscal responsibility, or backing up rhetoric with concrete action.”

Now remember that I'm not a fan of Steele but I approve of his candor here, well said. I wonder if he will retract this based on the RINO outrage outreach that he is getting? Go to Ben Smith's blog also to get a top DNC official's reaction to Steele's comment. Funny thing too, (and totally off-topic), is that I checked into The Other McCain repeatedly this morning and even up 'till lunch or so to see either Smitty/Stacie's snarks about the Nobel story. They were nowhere to be found. Funny thing is, there is an elaborate story behind it.....

How about this from Gresham Barrett, the SC Rep. running for governor -

“Congratulations to President Obama on his prize. I’m not sure what the
international community loved best; his waffling on Afghanistan, pulling defense missiles out of Eastern Europe, turning his back on freedom fighters in Honduras, coddling Castro, siding with Palestinians against Israel, or almost getting tough on Iran,” he said, “The world may love it, but following in the footsteps of Jimmy Carter is not where America needs to go. Hopefully, this surprise award will give the President cause to reevaluate his current course.”

  1. As disillusioned as I've been with Steele, he has made an excellent point. This is a sham.

If the Nobel committee is going to give BHO the Peace Prize, they may as well posthumously give Josef Mengele the Prize for Medicine for his research.

Tell the Mad Hatter I'm running late for tea.

  2. If you look at the list of people on the short list, it is truly amazing he won. I highlighted one on my blog. He was rumored to be the one who was going to win. Quite the comparasion of the two. He won because he isn't Bush. Anyone that will not admit that is just blinded by the cult of personality that is our President.

  3. The man has joined the likes of brutal dictators who love acts of terrorism. Well, maybe this is how he should be remembered? By his associations.

This is a crock of Sh*t- The Nobel Peace Prize has been rendered meaningless now.

  4. The clown was on the list 12 days after winning the Presidency!! This was all about the Nobel Peace Prize getting back at Pres. George W. Bush. I think it makes the NPP committee look petty and small.

  5. Terri, it was meaningless before. This is not the issue to be focusing on. Don't forget healthcare!!

  6. Love the picture.

This was all political and a way to get back at Bush. Bush freed millions from a brutal dictator; Obama merely reads a teleprompter and goes on apology tours.

I thought this award was meaningless when given to Gore; now I believe it to be a complete and utter sham. Who's going to take it seriously now?

    @ Just a Cons Girl - I know! What a story.

@ Teresa - It is a crock, and was meaningless before too. Stay tuned today for just why.

    @ Sparky - Yes, 100% right!

@ Nickie - Don't worry my friend, this is just the distraction this week!

@ Goddess - Yup, you are right.
