I'm reading myriad of reactions here that Rush Limbaugh is to be dropped from the group of those bidding to buy the St. Louis Rams.
Score one for liberal hysteria, misinformation, false victimhood.....free speech?
ESPN tonight -
Conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh was dropped from a group bidding to buy the St.Louis Rams.
ESPN's Adam Schefter first reported the story on Wednesday.Limbaugh was to be a limited partner in a group headed by St. Louis Blues chairman Dave Checketts. Checketts said in a statement Wednesday that Limbaugh's participation had become a complication in the group's efforts and the bid will move forward without him.
Checketts told the Associated Press he will have no further comment on the
bid process.Three-quarters of the league's 32 owners would have had to approve any sale to Limbaugh and his group. Earlier this week, Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay predicted that Limbaugh's potential bid would be met by significant opposition. Several players have also voiced their displeasure with Limbaugh's potential ownership position, and NFL Players Association head DeMaurice Smith, who is black, urged players to speak out against Limbaugh's bid.
A Limbaugh spokesman told ESPN that Limbaugh would have no comment on
Wednesday. Earlier, on his syndicated radio show, Limbaugh was defiant, holding
on to hope that he still could be part of the ownership group that buys the
Rams."This is not about the NFL, it's not about the St. Louis Rams, it's not about me," Limbaugh said. "This is about the ongoing effort by the left in this country, wherever you find them, in the media, the Democrat Party, or wherever, to destroy conservatism, to prevent the mainstreaming of anyone who is prominent
as a conservative.

UPDATE:Via The Powers That Be there is a lovely list of just who has a home in the NFL, among -
– Michael Vick: felony dogfighting charges
– Leonard Little: vehicular manslaughter/DUI
– Michael Irvin: felony drug possession
– Ray Lewis: obstruction of justice in a murder
– Plaxico Burress: felony weapon possession (in jail but not yet banned for life from the NFL)
– Pacman Jones: technically a felon since he pled guilty to obstruction of an officer case in GA

They are a business first and foremost. They are going to protect that before anything else. Rush is a lightening rod.
ReplyDeleteNow, the fact that I am personally not much of a fan; he is a little too arrogant for my taste may cloud my judgement on this one.
I am much more of a Levin fan.
@ Just a consgirl - He is but the smear campaign that you saw here goes far beyond his 'lightning rod' persona. I agree on Levin too, although I don't listen to either very much, to be honest!
ReplyDeleteIt appears Rush isn't gonna take this one lying down. From what Ive seen on TV tonight, he's already engaged his lawyers to initiate actions against "journalists" who have used defamatory statements consisting of false quotes attributed to him.
ReplyDeleteDefamation law is a bit complex, but there is no doubt that the repetition of an initial libel or slander, remains actionable against the repeater of the defamatory statement. In the case of a public figure, such as Rush, the burden is a bit heavier than it might be for the average non public figure citizen. When its a "public figure" there must be "actual malice" which translates effectively into the whether the defendant willfully decides to ignore evidence to the contrary of their contention.
Bottom Line: its going to be a very energetic and interesting lawsuit. Also, Rush can likely sue (and recover from) the "journalists" employers, here CNN and MSNBC (big surprise) under the legal doctrine of "Respondeat Superior" which holds that the tortious conduct of an employee is attributable to the employer when the employee is acting for the benefit of the employer. Also, on a different point Rush was a LIMITED PARTNER in an LLC who, as such, would have had NO POWER over the team's management.
Oddly enough, per Mark Levin's show, Obama funder and scumbag extraordinaire, George Soros, remains a limited partner of the purchasing consortium. How very odd is that?
I agree just a conservative girl.
ReplyDeleteI see Rush not only as a lightning rod, but often as an overblown vessel of hot air. I seldom listen to him any more.
Having said that he is correct on this one and his comments with respect to the assault on conservatism, liberty, capitalism, and fierce individualism is absolutely right on the mark.
LCR, I agree with you as well, this does goes way beyond just his persona. It is an attract not only on Rush but on American values as well.
This is becoming a country run by The Party, and Limbaugh is not a member of The Party. Only those who pay due respect to The Party will be allowed to operate or prosper.
ReplyDeleteGood-bye sweet America.
Anyone else get the irony of the NFL caving to Al Sharpton and banning Limbaugh because he is racist?
ReplyDeleteThis is sick-making. The lies and hysteria that have been spread all through the media - every form of it - based on fabricated quotes in a Gossipedia article... it's beyond belief. And the fact that the usual useless idiot Jesse Jackson even got involved in this smear campaign against Rush Limbaugh is egregious.
ReplyDeleteRush is a lightning rod for several reasons, but when one of the reasons is entirely based on a leftist campaign of lies, the result is injustice. I listened to Rush yesterday and he was trying to stay positive about this, and he spoke glowingly about his love for the NFL and the game of football. He also said something that I wish I could agree with, but I don't: the truth will win. There was a time when the truth would win, but it has passed. This is the Age of Bad Ideas, and the Age of Lies.
First they came for the arrogant blowhard radio talk-show host...
What is hysterical is to watch hypocrites like Sharpton, Jackson, and nutjob Sheila Jackson Lee voice outrage.
ReplyDeleteI believe Limbaugh has a hate crime suit here. Discriminating against someone because of their beliefs constitutes a hate crime right? Not only that but Rush keeps every radio show he has ever done archived. If he said something they better have the time it was said and proof that he said it because he does and i believe he has the grounds to sue their rears off.
ReplyDeleteImus and Chris Wallace discuss the White House giving Fox News Channel the cold shoulder.
ReplyDeleteIs MSNBC nervous about Mourning Joe? New York Post.
Imus, I can see MSNBC from my window

And a special message for Rush Limbaugh from “Can’t I Just Finish My Waffle”
This is going to come back and bite them in the ass.......... Rush is going to fight, he never goes down without one. This is straight up racism from the racists themselves.... I am simply shocked and disgusted that Sharpton and Jackson still have as much power as they do. Why isn't WHITE AMERICA taking a stand about this.... We need to fight for our race because we are getting walked all over.

ReplyDelete"Only those who pay due respect to The Party will be allowed to operate or prosper."
Which brought to my mind this passage from Revelation:
“And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name,” (Revelation 13:16-17)
Although I believe in God, I'm no holy roller, still, it popped into my head. Kinda creepy isn't it?
@ Libertarian Adv - You are correct here. I can't believe that Soros is involved as well. thanks for the law tidbits, it helps to have an attorney that isn't a statist in the audience here.
ReplyDelete@ Les - Agreed, that is exactly what it is.
@ Nickie - Good bye over my dead body!
@ Chuck - We all get the irony, it's disgusting.
@ Writer - Yes, isn't it?
@ Andrew - Wouldn't that be great, use a hate crime statute against these guys?
@ CPD - I hope you are right!
