GOP's New York 23 District RINO Disaster - Hoffman Alternative, Update: Stacy McCain on the Road

by the Left Coast Rebel

I'm a little late to this story, I wish I had picked this up. This is why I blog. The Other McCain and Another Black Conservative are ahead of me, giving readers a head's up on on the congressional election vote for New York's 23rd district, why it's a Huge Deal.

Here it is, the GOP establishment, including a high-profile endorsement from Newt Gingrich, (!?!?), recently have seen it fit to put their weight and financial backing behind 'D' with an 'R' by her name, a certain RINOtastic Dede Scozzafava. She is running against 'D' Bill Owens, whom the Obamanation is campaigning for as well. Sound simple enough? Just head to the ballot-box and do the usual cast for 'R' in the box here, here and here? Not quite, here is why 'D' with an 'R' Scozzafava is no different than 'D' Owens from the WSJ this morning -

  • She has voted for every tax increase she could get her hands on
  • She favors "card check"
  • She has affiliation with Working Families Party which is aligned with ACORN
  • She is left of Obama on social issues
  • She supported Obama's Stimulus
Do I even need to continue? Frankly Scozzafava to me is worse than the Democrat Owens alternative and puts conservatives and limited government advocates in the same crappy spot that the party loves to put us. That being the back of the bus.

Not this time. There is a 3rd contender. Doug Hoffman of the Conservative Party. A true-conservative that has the backing of Dick Armey, Fred Thompson and others. The Club For Growth has seen this race as pivotal and is putting their financial muscle behind him. He can win. He really can. And what a message that this would send to the establishment types like Newt Gingrich. Don't believe the MSM, he can win......

Vote Doug Hoffman on November 2 2009 all of you 23-NY residents.

And those of you that aren't in 23, donate to his campaign, there is still time to swell the coffers. I did and I live on the Left Coast for God's sake.......

UPDATE: How cool is this? I just recieved an email from good friend Stogie at Saberpoint. Stogie instructed me to post a transcribed conversation he just had with Stacy McCain, on the road to reporting about the Hoffman race. From Stogie -

Robert Stacy McCain reports from the road. He is on his way to New York to report on Congressional Candidate John Hoffman and his campaign.

Stacy reports:

Dick Armey of FreedomWorks will meet with Tea Party activists near Syracuse, New York tonight.Tomorrow at 9:30 AM he and Doug Hoffman will appear together at an event in Watertown, NY. Doug Hoffman is a CPA who is running for Congress in New York’s 23rd district; he is opposed by RINO Republican Dede Scozzafava. After the event Armey and Hoffman will attend a luncheon in Syracuse, NY where Hoffman will endorse the Flat Tax. This is astounding in that Hoffman will be going against his own business interests as a CPA in doing so, but believed the Flat Tax is better for the country.

Earlier in the week Dede Scozzafava created a controversy over an interview by the Weekly Standard’s John McCormack. McCormack was asking Scozzafava questions that she did not want to answer and allegedly felt threatened, so either she or one of her aids called the police. A YouTube video [find it and embed it] shows that McCormack never raised his voice. It is expected that Scozzafava’s overreaction to this interview will paint her as somewhat excitable in the face of difficult questions asked by a reporter.

In other developments, the Wall Street Journal posted an editorial that is favorable to Doug Hoffman. This could give him added credibility with donors.
