I'm reading a bizarre story at Politico that involves a radical-left organization tied to Soros and SEIU in which they peddled a phony story claiming that the US Chamber of Commerce had jettisoned their stalwart stand against US economy-shattering tax and cap legislation. Why is this so interesting to me? Because the main press outlets in the country fell for the ruse. From Politico -
In a dramatic shift, the Chamber of Commerce announced Monday that it isthrowing its support behind climate change legislation making its way throughthe U.S. Senate.
Only it didn’t.
In a story posted Monday morning, Reuters declared: “The Chamber of Commerce
said on Monday it will no longer opposes climate change legislation, but wants
the bill to include a carbon tax.”Reuters updated the story to acknowledge the hoax, but it was too late: The Washington Post and the New York Times had already posted the fake story on their Web sites.
The Yes Men, a left-leaning activist group that often impersonates officials
from organizations they oppose, took responsibility for the hoax.
File this story under the CNBC/Reuters/MSM, drooling over oursleves, we can't believe this and it sounds too good to be true section in the press-chambers.
And since I haven't mentioned it before, did anyone know the the COC is a great business-friendly group? Did you know that they are defenders of American markets and our once-vibrant market economy? Did you know that they are so effective as to be in the crosshairs of our radical Obamanation anti-free-market regime? And what does this story tell us? It certainly speaks to me of the incompetence and agenda of out press. The ability to unceasingly get everything wrong. And to pursue a ruthless agenda without abandon. The fact that some sort of activist underground bogus media network can wholesale-dupe major media branches should not come as a surprise to anyone. At least it doesn't to me.

This doesn't come as a surprise to me either. The MSM seems to lack in verifyng their sources, and even stories...
ReplyDeleteThey really need to do their homework, if they want to pretend to be "real" journalists.
ReplyDeleteHeck, I don't know why we just don't take newspapers and video clips and file them in the Fairy Tales and Fantasy section of a bookstore. I've seen more facts in Grimm's Fairy Tales than our media.
ReplyDeleteTo be fair, Fox Business Network also fell for the hoax, reporting it on air before they confirmed its veracity.
ReplyDeleteThose who believe in nothing fall for everything. Or, so I have heard.
ReplyDelete@ Teresa - Me neither, that's why we have such a great audience with our sites, we aren't the only ones that see this.
ReplyDelete@ Opus - Yes indeed.
@ Madmath - Love the analogy.
@ Cunctator - Thanks for the factoid.
@ Doom - Indeed they do.
