Bill Ayers - Dreams of My Father?

by the Left Coast Rebel

The rumour of the day in the right blogosphere. It's been circulating the net for a while now. It came to a head via. Christopher Andersen's book Barack and Michelle: Portrait of an American Marriage. I'm not here to either confirm nor deny it, just to point it out to you.

Today's news is different though and comes to you courtesy of Anne Leary, a conservative Chicago blogger @ Backyard Conservative. She happened to run into Bill Ayers at the Reagan National Airport and had a nice little chat with Ayers. She snapped a picture of him, (top right). From the post -

There I was, sitting in Reagan National Monday morning, sipping a Starbucks
by the United counter before going through security. I had a little time, so I
was browsing through the news. Some military guys had borrowed a chair from my
table. I looked up from time to time to enjoy the sun streaming through. That's
when I saw Bill Ayers, an instant blight....

I asked him if he was speaking at GW? (Only I said GFW, guess I had
the VFW on my mind) He said oh you mean GW, he said no...was trying to decide if
I was a fan, then said he was giving a lecture in Arlington to a Renaissance
group on education--that's what I do, education--...

Then, unprompted he said--I wrote Dreams From My Father. I said, oh, so you
admit it. He said--Michelle asked me to. I looked at him. He seemed
eager....

Horrible thought. But he came again--I really wrote it, the wording
was similar. I said I believe you probably heavily edited it. He said--I wrote
it. I said--why would I believe you, you're a liar.

Hearsay from a fellow blogger, interesting nonetheless. Also, I haven't written much about Ayers here at the Left Coast Rebel.

Bill Ayers is a past associate of the Obamanation. He's a Communist. With communist friends. A 60s radical student. A domestic terrorist. Obama worked with him in Chicago and even announced his Illinois State Senate run in Ayer's home.
But all of this above is old news, timeless shall we say; just like the adage -

Judge a man by the company he keeps.

UPDATE: Via Memeorandum, Jonah Goldberg is re-thinking his previous pooh-poohing of the Alinsky/Obama Dreams authorship. Stay tuned.

  2. It is an amazing story! Its so amazing that it has to be made up. A total stranger bumps into Ayers at an airport and answers a question that numerous journalists and all sorts of folks have been asking....

If it is too good to be true it usually is...

Oh, and all of you criticize the Obamanation for "Hope and Change" seems to me that a whole lot of folks on the right are doing a whole lot of hoping and praying...of a delusional type.

  4. From American Thinker:

"Prior to 1990, when Barack Obama contracted to write Dreams From My Father, he had written very close to nothing. Then, five years later, this untested 33 year-old produced what Time Magazine has called -- with a straight face -- "the best-written memoir ever produced by an American politician."

It took him FIVE years to write one book? Good Lord, look what Sarah Palin has produced in weeks?

Wasn't Obama editor of the Harvard Law Review or something? I am sure that did not involve a whole lot of writing...

Come on folks, lets stop spinning because we are going to make ourselves very dizzy!

  5. If it's too good, it usually is. Then again, we all know that. A blogger posting untrue info or something this big is risking losing all credibility. I believe Ayers is an arrogant communist nutjob and would not put it past him to say exactly this, simply because he feels like he deserves more credit for the Obama presidency. I think it's feasable that this happened. I'm not saying I believe it, just that it's possible.

  6. He's suspected of obviously joking about it, but it doesn't change the fact that there are a lot of similarities in writing style between the two, and the sudden gap in Ayers' regular publishing around the time of Obama's book.

  7. I think the story fits because Obamanation is dumber than a sack of hammers. He's not smart enough to put two sentences together that make sense, let alone write an entire book (just listen to him speak without a teleprompter!). He's not even smart enough to run for office. That's why he's dubbed "The Manchurian Candidate".

  8. The really great thing about this post is that no one, BUT NO ONE, can say that somebody wrote former Governor Sarah Palin's book for her.

Sarah sat down with her pen and a giant stack of yellow legal pads and cranked out one hell of a bestseller -- in about four weeks.

Even if she did have a ghostwriter, it was the Holy Ghost that helped -- and whoever has a problem with that can take it up with Jesus Himself.

  9. @ Shakes the Clown - Agreed.

@ TAO - I did confirm it as a rumor, do you deny that Ayers is a shady character?

@ Golfmage - Linked it, thanks!

@ TAO - A lot of rumor here, I am not taking the 'whole enchilida' as they say of this story, just pointing stuff out.

@ Andrew - I agree, it sure is interesting though.

@ Candle - As I note here, it may be true or not, the similiarities are something I am aware of too.

    @ Sparky - Indeed.

@ Davemartin - Great point, the Holy Ghost, lol, very nice.

  10. Even Tingles Matthews thinks Obama had a ghost writer. He said so back in February or March. Said the second book was different than the first one.

  11. @ Italy Girl - I know! I wonder what he says about that now?

  12. good, you saw that too. i can't find it now, but i made a comment about it in march. all i can find now is him mocking palin for having a ghostwriter... so obama is brilliant, and can have a ghostwriter, but palin must have one because she is an idiot? i hate tingles. haha

i can picture him discussing it with someone... he was convinced the second book was different than the first.

i have no doubt ayers wrote it. those comparisons are too similar. either that, or he plagiarized the heck out of it, like he did his speeches. ha
