Giving new meaning to the term, a day late and a buck short, the Van Jones story hit me by surprise this morning. So to fill you in quickly, it's official, Mr. artist formerly known as the Green Jobs Czar has resigned - fired if you can read between the lines.
So without even reading any other blogs or news sources today, my thoughts come to several points.
- This is an incredible victory for the fight against statism and the basic common-sense idea that our leaders and those that have their ear are reputable and have integrity.
- This story also points to the fact that the Left-boycott of Glenn Beck was an incredibly mismanaged collective backfire. Even though I haven't even spoken of the boycott here at LCR and hadn't necessarily planned on it, the ousting of Van Jones points to a sweet poetic justice that we all can learn from. You cannot stifle free speech, hear the roar of the right.
- The amateur hour at the White House continues. Like I told reader C-gen in an email exchange yesterday, we as conservative/libertarians/liberty-minded folks could not do the damage to the progressive big-government agenda that these folks are doing to themselves. Pat over at So it Goes in Shreveport points readers to this.
- We conservatives are The Mob, as the left points out, I mean this though in a good way. We outnumber the radical-left, (that borders on socialist), 3 to 1, maybe 4 to 1. We can stop the agenda, the runaway freight-train of debt, malfeasance and corruption. This is our hour, not theirs.
- Van Jones bit the bullet due to the hard work of bloggers, alternative media like Beck + talk radio. The main stream press largely ignored the issue and the man. This is a teachable moment for us as concerned citizens and as citizen-journalists. Cap and Trade anyone? Obamacare? Well, I just point you to yesteryear's Amnesty fiasco that we shut down even though GOP leadership was gunning for it. The Van Jones deal is just as big as that was for the cause of liberty, transparency, common sense.
So we are hearing a crescendo of shrill voices from the left on this affair - the cries of 'high tech lynching' and such echoing across the net. Surprising? Not hardly. Tune in later this evening to the Left Coast Rebel for the definitive roundup of Left sites and their collective reaction to the Van Jones story - from the horse's mouth, so to speak. I must leave this story for attendance to a Labor Day party in Los Angeles, it breaks my heart to do so, I want to keep writing!
For now, in my haste; I will leave you with the White House statement from the artist formerly known as the Green Jobs Czar, in his own words -
"I am resigning my post at the Council on Environmental Quality, effective today," Jones said in a resignation letter released by the CEQ late Saturday."On the eve of historic fights for health care and clean energy, opponents of reform have mounted a vicious smear campaign against me. They are using lies and distortions to distract and divide," he said. "I have been inundated with calls -- from across the political spectrum -- urging me to 'stay and fight,'" he continued. "But I came here to fight for others, not for myself. I cannot in good conscience ask my colleagues to expend precious time and energy defending or explaining my past. We need all hands on deck, fighting for the
future. "It has been a great honor to serve my country and my President in this capacity. I thank everyone who has offered support and encouragement. I am proud to have been able to make a contribution to the clean energy future. I will continue to do so, in the months and years ahead."

Obama: "Now how in hell did this happen? Where are you people when I need you? I know, this is the handi-work of those no good SOB's who run talk radio! Where in hell is my FCC 'Diversity Czar?' Does anyone know which cubicle he is located in my endless hall of bureaucrats? Oh, by the way, how are my ratings doing after the commie stepped down? Better? Hmmm, I'll just blame Pelosi for this, she can then blame Reid, and the NY Times can spin this into a "nuanced" story""
ReplyDeleteWe the People rock!
"Van the Terrible" Jones is a man who proudly proclaimed that he was a member of the worst hate group in all human history.
ReplyDeleteWilliam: Big Brother. The job of the "diversity czar" is to eliminate diversity in the media, and to toss the First Amendment entirely out. This particular czar has applauded Chavez' efforts to get rid of all media that criticize the dictator of Venezuela.
This is failure by Rahm and the President's staff for the terrible job of vetting this guy. Who in his right mind would think somebody with a record of sympathy to communists would get a pass? As much as I admire this administration in many ways, blunders like this, while in the long run really aren't that important, give the opposition too much ammo. The public will remember that Obama "appointed a commie" forever. Right wing media will see to it. The Obama Administration has itself to blame.
ReplyDeleteWe thank you LCR and all the other great bloggers out there for getting the word out about Communist, radical Van Jones.
ReplyDeleteYes, THANK YOU LCR for getting the word out about all the politican shenanigans. Keep up the good work. We appreciate you more than words can express.
ReplyDeleteYep, one Marxist commie lib down and a few more to go. I feel very encouraged.
Keep praying America! God answers prayer. :)
I do feel like we had a victory today. To be honest, I didn't expect him to step down. So waking to this news this morning was a welcomed surprise. Glen Beck did the entire country a favor; even if the left doesn't see it.
ReplyDeleteI really would like to know how he got into the adminstration in the first place. Did Obama not know or did he not care?
Come to think of it, I am not sure which I would think is worse.
Truth said: "This is failure by Rahm and the President's staff for the terrible job of vetting this guy."
ReplyDeleteIsn't this the umpteenth one? I'd forgotten about them for a while, but now I remember the stream of tax crooks that were nominated. Including the "taxes are optional for me, but not for you" Treasury Secretary.
Truth, how about the FCC "diversity czar" who has said that he likes how Hugo Chavez is silencing the independent media in Venezuela? Do you think he has gone too far? Or is he a good guy who properly represents the views of the Obama Administration?
To Obama's credit, he did not stand by Pol Van Pot for too long. I think he got sacked only 2 or 3 days after I first heard of the guy. That is reasonable speed for me.
One small step...
ReplyDeleteI was not surprised to see what Olbermann said on Kos - Jeff at America's Right posted about it. Can't wait to see your breakdown of things. I love analyzing the left..
Olbermann is ready to fight for his man Van ( g a y). I heart Prince (old school) too. Va.J. is the commie truther formerly known as 'employed'. We all need to get a crack at vetting these czars. Beck should put 'em all out in the spotlight, not just the ones who go after him (and I know he did an expose before Jones made it personal but still, Beck has clout in the media so it could only help). I say Valerie Jarrett is next.
ReplyDelete@ William - One of many victories coming up my friend.
ReplyDelete@ Dmarks - Let's get rid of him next too then....
@ Truth - Once again, we agree, thanks for being open minded enough to admit that!
@ Nac - Thank you to you as well sir.
@ Sparky - Yes he does indeed.
@ justaconsgirl - I'd say it's both, I was surprised too.
@ Soloman - I saw that too, I am working on the breakdown, it will have to wait until tomorrow!
@ Red - The Commie Truther formerly known as employed. I Love that.....Jarrett is next.
Now that Jones is gone (loved the self-serving resignation statement), the focus should be on some of the other czars, some of whom who are worse. The left boycotting Glenn Beck? Hysterical. That's like telling the right to boycott Air America. Who from the left even listens to Beck?
ReplyDelete"Jarrett is next."
ReplyDeleteThat would make a great slogan for an expose campaign right there.
