Rahm Emanuel Puppeteer - Darrell Issa, Chicago Thug Politics and the Press

by the Left Coast Rebel

It pains me to write this, I really don't want to. I'm so sick and tired of the stories, the misfits and derelicts that inhabit the White House and Capitol. The shenanigans that they are pulling, daily.

Enter Rahm Emanuel, again.

No stranger to strong-arming friend and foe alike, (chief of staff to the Obamanation, controls much of what he sees and does), schooled well in Chicago politics, a brazen Leftist and a true believer. Some would say the Karl Rove of the Left, (a little different, I know).

Anyway I was reading my business paper earlier and I saw a headline in the editorial section.

Rahm's Media Muscle

Interesting, I thought. I'm sure that I'm not going to like the details on this, I can only wonder. The piece here, excerpts -

In an unprecedented intervention by government in private media, White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel called all three TV networks and muscled them into giving President Obama prime time coverage for his medical expansion program.

For some, Emanuel didn't bother with mere newsmen. He went straight to the top, calling corporate owners such as Disney Chief Executive Bob Iger, whose company controls ABC, and General Electric CEO Jeffrey Immelt, NBC's boss.

"Whether this amounted to undue pressure or plain old Chicago arm-twisting, Emanuel got results: the fourth hour of lucrative network time for his boss in six months," wrote Howard Kurtz, who broke the story in Monday's Washington Post.

Wow, now that is fascism.

So I looked up the Washington Post piece article mentioned in IBD here that I missed on Monday, (with everything going on it's hard to stay abreast). Sure enough, it's an expose on extracurricular media-peddling and undue influence from Emanuel and the White House. It seems Emanuel literally phoned all of the top head executives of the major media companies, (ABC, NBC, CBS), with nary an advance notice to carry the Obamanation Health Care Prime Time Summit.

Such corruption and hubris, it is shocking.

The good side to this story? You shall reap that which you sow, (Gal 6 1-10) -

From the Post -

The financial stakes are considerable. ABC, CBS and NBC have given up as much as $40 million in advertising revenue to carry this year's East Room events.... The audience is gradually dwindling. The last presser drew 24 million viewers, a significant number but a 50 percent decline from Obama's first such event in February.

There is a God, in layman's terms, there are fewer Obamaiites than Rush Limbaugh listeners.

Also on a related note Darrell Issa, an esteemed congressman whose district is close to where I live has put Emanuel and the Obamanation corruption-tactics in his sights. He put out a news release today titled, Issa to Emanuel: Back Off!

Read it here.

Do you think that the Stooges in Congress will eventually try to shut Emanuel up? Is he a liability? Or is the media so far in the tank that noone other than astute citizen journalists see what the heck is going on?

A picture to ponder.......

  3. So sick...so very very sick. People hated Rove because he was good at politics. Rahm isn't a politician, but a gangster.

These people are despicable, but it is how brazen they are that really gets me.

  11. Why doesn't Rahm Emanuel pay property taxes on his Chicago residence?

According to the Cook County Assessor's website, the Chicago home of four-term Democrat Congressman and new White House Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanuel, doesn't exist.

While the address of 4228 North Hermitage is listed as Emanuel's residence on the Illinois State Board of Elections' website, there seems to be no public record of Emanuel ever paying property taxes on this home.

The Cook County Assessor's and Cook County Treasurer's online records indicate Emanuel's Chicago neighbors pay between $3,500 and $7,000 annually. However, Illinois Review has been unable to locate any evidence that the former Clinton advisor and investment banker is paying his fair share of Cook County's notoriously high tax burden.

Why wouldn't 4228 North Hermitage property owners Rahm Emanuel and wife Amy Rule pay property taxes??? This might be why...

One reason may be because Emanuel and Rule declared their 4228 North Hermitage home as the office location for their personal non-profit foundation called the "Rahm Emanuel and Amy Rule Charitable Foundation". As the non-profit's headquarters, their home could be exempt from paying property taxes.

In January 2007, USA Today reported on Emanuel's foundation:

The Rahm Emanuel and Amy Rule Charitable Trust was formed in 2002, when the Chicago lawmaker was first elected. The former Clinton White House aide and his wife, Amy Rule, are its only donors. Emanuel was an investment banker after serving in the White House.
The trust reported having $2,900 on hand at the end of 2005 after receiving $34,000 from Emanuel and donating more than $31,000
During the past three years, Emanuel's charity gave nearly $25,000 to the Anshe Emet synagogue and school [a private school that the Rahm/Rule children attend]..., and $15,000 to the foundation run by former president Bill Clinton. It also gave $14,000 to Marwen, a Chicago charity that provides art classes and other educational help to low-income children. Rule is on Marwen's board.

THE SENDER OF THIS E-MAIL WRITES:
He doesn't pay any property taxes and he gets income tax write-offs by donating $25000 to the Synagogue
and other amounts of money to his Foundation. This allows his kids to attend school tuition-free
and allows him to expense a lot of personal expenses. What a racket!
Take all your income and donate it back to yourself via tax exempt orgs where you can spend it on as
expenses to operate your car, pay the electric and water bills, etc.
I guess if you are a hypocritical "liberal" democrat who advocates raising taxes on everyone else, this is all permissible.

Emanuel's 4228 North Hermitage home is one of the largest in the neighborhood, with a side yard that appears to be a vacant lot, making the Emanuels' property the largest portion on the block.
Other North Hermitage homes on Emanuel's block are valued in the $500,000 plus range. According to Cook County Treasurer's website, the Chicago owners of nearby 118year old 4222 North Hermitage pay almost $6800 annually. The family at 4224 North Heritage pays $6000 each year in property taxes.

  14. Very good ... very scary ... post. However, I am not surprised. This is nothing but straight up fascism on the part of Emanuel. And I see from the comment above that he is also corrupt. No surpises there.

Boy, is our country in trouble if we don't start enforcing the law properly. Chaos is lurking around the corner, I can feel it.

  19. @ Anonymous - Wow, you are a true genius, really. This has nothing to do with race, go back to Think Progress for some validation. See you in 2010. BTW, I'm not a Republican either and don't talk about social issues on this site, ok?

  20. Anonymous: At least have the nerve to use a screen name if you believe your rhetoric. "Anonymous" is for cowards.

You and your cronies have no intelligent debate in your aresenal, so you have to stick to the only play in the leftist game book: When all else fails, resort to name-calling and insults.

We pledge allegiance to the FLAG of this great nation, and we pledge our allegiance to the ideas the Founding Fathers set forth in the Constitution. You know...that outdated piece of paper your side enjoys wiping their behinds with. That is, unless it serves your cause of defending those at Club Gitmo who seek to destroy western civilization and take us back to the Stone Age. Because we support the Constitution, you are free to say what you do, and we will defend with our dying breath your right to say it whether we agree with your point of view or not. Can you say the same thing? I doubt it.

Now that I've exercised my rights under the First Amendment, get back under the bridge, troll.
