Decades of excess being wrought out of the United States financial system, our markets
, our economy. Sharply lower real estate prices, market indexes still 40% off. A national gloom, a fog over our can-do collective spirit. Such things would point to a national grumpy economy, hard to get by, much less excel. But we have fought implosions of our system and markets. 9-11, the dot-com blowup, October 1987, many others. And we snapped back, ready to exceed, excel, innovate - to be the best in the world.
18 months into this thing, this recession; the real cause of our malaise.

Why is this job decline happening? The private sector — the real engine of economic and job growth — won't hire because it's scared of what it sees coming out of Washington.
On the horizon, as far as the eye can see, are higher taxes, uncontrolled spending and layers upon layers of new regulations.
Who would hire new workers faced with that?
Also, the federal government is meddling in the private sector as never before — in essence, nationalizing two of the three major carmakers with $200 billion in subsidies and capital infusions, turning our banking system into a fourth branch of government through the $700 billion TARP program, spending $200 billion to take over Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and put them back in the business of lending to people who can't pay their loans — which is how we got into trouble in t
he first place.
Socialism - not a normal, or unusually bad recession is causing our malaise. A literal Carnival of socialism. Our Obamanation is causing our malaise. Our pathetic, corrupt congress is causing our malaise. Never let a good crisis go to waste is causing our malaise -
- Ambiguous so-called health care reform is spooking business and the markets. Howard Dean thinks that private insurers are destroying America. 46 million so-called uninsured, 10 million of which are illegal aliens. Ambiguous costs range from $1 trillion to $3.6 trillion. Socialized medicine thrust by this corrupt regime is causing our malaise.
- Cap and Tax, a massive reshaping of our energy policy, replete with myriad new taxes and regulations, a regressive monstrosity thrust upon the middle class. Average family of four - $1800 per annum. Small business is confused and irate. Huge, new regulatory schemes are causing our malaise.
- Stimulus II. No I'm not kidding. When something fails as miserably as the so-called $787 billion stimulus bill, Washington sees fit to add insult to injury. I vote for repeal of the first one. Spending future generational wealth through debt-financing is causing our malaise.
- Wealth creators are being stigmatized, the engines of the economy - the entrepreneur. Every socialized scheme under the sun is put on their collective backs. Envy and hate of achievement is causing our malaise.
- California would be the canary in the coal-mine for any sensible government. The Golden State is teetering on bankruptcy. The reason? Progressive Obamanomics of the Left Coast. California liberalism on a national scale is causing our malaise.
I want off this carnival ride in perpetual nightmare-motion. Ignoring the Constitution is causing our malaise.

Nice Rant! Love it, but you left something out. Something big.
Listen to Obama. Only Government can pull us out of a recession. Only Government could get the car industry up and running. Only Government can reduce the costs of health care. Only Government will solve environmental problems.
With talk like that, what do you think people are doing? In the past, people felt a sense of nationalism and as you stated "can do attitude." Rugged individualism pulled us out. Obama's thuggery has caused those with the ingenuity to solve our problems to say "your pointing a gun at our heads? Fine you have a go at the wheel and see how you like it."
This is truly monumental. The arrogance of a single man may be the largest factor to prolonging the biggest recession in recent history.

It's interesting - the only allowable explanation is that not enough money has been spent. It defies logic. "Oh no, we're in terrible debt because we spent more money than we had! I guess we'd better spend a bunch more money to get out of debt!" What nonsense. The answer is not to spend money better, but to cut the spending. Barely any of the "stimulus" has even been applied and yet it is assumed that more is needed. Don't these pols seem just a little anxious to spend even more money we don't have and can't afford?

You nailed it again!!!! the malaise is their fault. Rham or however you spell it, is a grave robber, if you don't have your eyes glued into your head, he will try and steal them from you. In 2 years time (tops) the kool-aid drinkers will be thinking differently. We all have to still fight he good fight, get the word out, and tell the truth about what is going on in this great country we call AMERICA. They can't silence us forever.
Absolutely, it would take someone with deep pockets and limited intelligence to invest in business and hiring with what looks like a Marxist regime forming.
I think Howard Dean is in denial. It is his party that is destroying America, and his insurance company refused to treat his mental disorder.

I heard an interesting question raised by a caller to Rush. The question which I will raise on my blog in further detail is "If Obama crashes and burns, who do the Dems have left?" Name one person on the Dem side that can draw crowds and get votes like Obama.
Great post; IBD pretty much nails why the economy is not recovering like all the pundits with more hope than brains predict. As logic would predict, and history has demonstrated time and again, you can have a nanny socialist state which attempts to regulate and control everything, or you can have economic prosperity, but you can't have both.

That when may have happened. Obama's favorable rating is down to 49% in Ohio. That is a double digit drop from a month ago.
I swear, Obugger is the dumbest president I've seen since...well...FDR. The man has no concept of history, no concept of what his policies are doing, and will do, and no understanding that FDR tried all the same crap he's pulling...and needed a war far bigger than the ones we're in now to pull us out of out of far dire circumstances.

I feel the same as you, I want off of this endless nightmare carnival ride! I am just so disgusted with all these jerks, dem, rino, whoever, they all suck, but who is the piped piper leading the lemmings off the Cliff? BHO. He is the worst thing to come out of chicago since mrs. o'leary's cow (who had more common sense, btw). I don't know how much more I can take, it's pretty grim looking. We must keep up the fight.
