Blackburn, Campbell & Culberson now co-sponsorsby Eric Dondero
While it may be too late to revoke Barack Hussein Obama's hold on the Presidency, it is not too late to make the issue of his birth outside of the United States, most likely in Kenya, an issue for Campaign 2012.
With that in mind, a coalition of conservatives and libertarians around the Nation are pushing for the enactment of HR 1503, introduced by freshman Republican Congressman of Florida Bill Posey. The legislation would require proof of birth in the United States of America or its Territories to run for the office of the Presidency. This shall take the form of a valid hospital-issued birth certificate, and not just a receipt for such a certificate as Obama has released.
The legislation got off to a slow start. It was introduced back in March of this year. And only Rep. Bill Goodlatte (R) of Virginia, agreed to sign on as a co-sponsor. Then a few weeks ago, Randy Neugebauer, R-Texas, came on board. Within the last two weeks, 5 Republican Congressmen have signed on. Besides the 3 mentioned, co-sponsors include: Reps. Marsha Blackburn (TN), John Carter (TX), John Culberson (TX), Ted Poe (TX), and Dan Burton (IN). Notably, Burton and Blackburn are considered leaders of the GOP House Caucus.

Of note, on the Senate side, the Hon. Tom Coburn of Oklahoma has gone on record in support of such legislation in that body. There are some notable Representatives who have yet to sign on, including some libertarian Republicans. It would also be nice to have a principled and honest Democrat or two as co-sponsors.
Please take a moment to contact your Representatives by email, phone or letter to urge them to support HR 1503. Just tell them it's the "Posey Bill" requiring a birth certificate for Presidential eligibility.
It may be too late to do anything about Obama's 2008 election, but not too late to make this an issue for 2012.

Note to Left Coast Rebel readers - Eric over @ Libertarian Republican requested that I put this post up. While I have not been on the birth certificate bandwagon, (only in that it distracts us from Socialized Medicine, Socialism, Cap and Tax, the dissolution of our freedoms), it is interesting to note that several top-shelf congressional leaders are calling for HR 1503. I would tend to support this bill as it may affect the 2012 election on the long-shot chance of passage.

HOLLA!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm part of the 'bandwagon', only because Obama refuses to show any real birth certificate (sorry, the one on the web isn't going to cut it). He also has three law firms (not lawyers; but firms) defending him on this. Something smells fishy, and it ain't the seafood you had for lunch. Doesn't it say something to have attorney generals and now congressman filing these suits against our POTUS? How sad that we have to go to these measures for some simple proof that Obama is even eligible to hold the highest office in the land.
ReplyDeleteI think that like going after Clinton in 98 that Republicans are totally wasting their time. We care about ISSUES...like, "it's the economy stupid." The American people didn't like it when Repubs went after Clinton, and they wont like this either. I think conversely, the American People will be just as hostile to the Obama administration going after for Bush Administration staff. The Repubs need to show America that they have figured out how to listen to us and also that they understand where they went wrong in the last decade. Or they can side in the minority until a 3rd party replaces them. I see it, You see it, and Sarah Palin sees it too. That is why she is chatting with folks from both parties. I believe she intends to start or support a 3rd party and there are many "blue dog" Dems that do not want us to be a European communist state.
ReplyDeleteIt's not necessarily "Republicans," who are "wasting time," on this. It's us Libertarians.

@ blackandgold - hola to you too!
ReplyDelete@ goddess - I understand, it is extremely fishy, etc, I just think that we have bigger fish to fry - like income tax rates over 60%. If this law has any chance on keeping this guy out next round, I'm all for it.
@ Andrew - I know what you mean
@ Eric D - yup, I see both sides of this point..
@ Mickey - I was not aware of that, perhaps she should get booted out in 2010 as well!
